QUOTE(drbone @ Jan 31 2018, 08:59 PM) Yup my concern is not regarding the dividend that’s gonna be declared in the coming 1-2 weeks. It’s about whether I will be able to maximize full 11 months when the dividend rate is declared in 2019 for 2018 balances. So are you saying if funds are in on 1/2 or 15/2 , I will be able to benefit for February based on the date I put in ? Or is it based on the minimum amount of the balance of that particular month ? From the article in the link posted in the amended post: QUOTE Monthly contribution start earnings dividend only on the last day of the month irrespective the actual day the monthly contribution is deposited. QUOTE(prophetjul @ Feb 6 2018, 11:18 AM) Someone mentioned that EPF was supposed to pay out a certain % of earnings by law. They cannot pay lower than that. Anyone? 2.5% min. The EPF ensures that your savings are secure and receive reasonable dividends. In fact, it guarantees a minimum of 2.5 Per Cent Dividend annually. To ensure dividend payments, the EPF invests your contribution in approved financial instruments for optimum returns. QUOTE(orangutan @ Feb 6 2018, 11:28 AM) If a company pays late, would the yearly dividend be calculated on the whole annual amount of that year plus the current balance or only what is bank in at that time? Example, Jan & Feb, paid in Mar Mar & Apr, paid in May May & Jun paid in Jul Jul & Aug paid in Sept Sept & Oct paid in Nov Nov & Dec haven't bank in until today. So will the divided be applied to the whole sum of that year Let's say annually $10k Annual Dividends, on the one hand, are calculated based on the opening balance of your savings as at 1 January of each year. Monthly Dividends credited into your account, on the other hand, are based on the monthly contributions received. URL: http://www.kwsp.gov.my/portal/en/about-epf...view-of-the-epf

QUOTE(watabakiu @ Feb 7 2018, 09:53 PM) Is there a way to contribute to EPF voluntarily? I am a freelancer, not earning fixed wages. I think you can open an individual account and contribute yourself like those who is doing business themselves (sole proprietor).

QUOTE(watabakiu @ Feb 7 2018, 10:05 PM) I used to contribute to EPF, but stopped when i began my freelancing. I guess I can remit my money into the account, and can quite simply be done via online bank transfer? I know Maybank2U can transfer to EPF account but I never do it before.

QUOTE(Duckies @ Feb 9 2018, 10:48 AM) Hi guys, sorry for this noob question. 1. Let's say I am withdrawing everything from Account 2 for properties in 2017. So the dividend only applies to Account 1? 2. If I am withdrawing Account 2 for house monthly loan, it's by monthly withdrawal or one shot? If one shot, how about future amount in Account 2? 1. Dividend is paid based on the balance on both. 2. Either way. If you still got future contribution, it'll partially go into Account 2. You can empty it again if you have sufficient amount to withdraw.

2.5% is the min dividend rate that the conventional fund needs to declare.
It doesn't say all net profits of its investment must be distributed.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

QUOTE(nexona88 @ Feb 11 2018, 08:19 AM) Wonder how those opt for Shariah feels... Since the dividend rate is below from the conventional one 😎 Or no feel because happy no more having "sin" income 💪 They want a "halal" income. So I guess no complaint from them.

QUOTE(nexona88 @ Feb 12 2018, 12:07 PM) Actually ASB not really 100% halal... But some states says okay for Muslim to invest... As long the "sin" portfolio don't exceed certain percentage 🙏 As long as profit cleansing is performed, it should be considered as halal.

QUOTE(drbone @ Feb 10 2019, 09:52 PM) Is the dividend calculation based on total amount of money put in for that particular year (regardless of from company worked for or self contribution) or is it based on total balance as of yr end? The way EPF dividend calculated is based on daily rest. Means that, dividend is calculated based on daily balanced of each account 1 and 2.
