are you guys topping up the personal rm60k limit? was thinking about it unsure if want to do it or not , since its better than FD.
*
I did that, and will continue doing it. If one day they implement "tier" dividen", then i will stop doing it. So far FD rate seems getting better, some banks have FD promotion up to 3% or more for 6-12 months duration.

Side Question :

If i was to put some money in my foreign currency account, would you recommend USD or SGD? Thanks.

If EPF can't answer you, I don't think anyone here can. But if I look at it. If you have withdraw your money, why should they pay you dividend? If I sold the stock or uplift FD prematurely, I also don't get anymore dividend or interests. I look at it, same logic applies. But as someone state, maybe leave a little bit there like RM100, just maybe you get pro rated interests.
Did you write in officially to EPF? Make them reply in black and white if verbal can't get any answers.
*
If he withdraws all the money on this year November, he will still get the dividen next year, the dividen will count until the day he withdraws the money.

Btw, regarding 1mil saving and having 4-5% dividen yearly, one thing to remind, you are not using that 4-5% forever. When you are reaching, let's say 65 years old, you might start to make use of the dividen + some of the 1mil saving already, you won't be living till you are leaving this world and still don't touch that 1mil saving. And i believe, when you are getting older, you won't be still spending big amount of money into things that you usually would spend, examples, foods, traveling, etc due to health related issue.

1mil definitely can retire now, it just depends on your living style and whether you still have other commitments or not. Personally, i am aiming to be retired before 46 and have at least 4mil in saving and expecting averagely yearly 4% interest / dividends, at 13k per month to use. Once i reach 65, i will go all wild with the money and expect i will leave this world at 75 or max 85.

The argument about if X amount is enough or not, really depends on how people wants to live their live.

If the next epf dividen still has > 5.5%, i would be very happy.

At 65, you already insap, leg pain, back pain, high BP, high cholesterol, heart problem. Got money also can't do much. Want to travel, also susah. Won't really need much money other than hospital fees, so make sure your medical insurance is enough..
*
Well, not everyone will be facing such a freaking bad situation, lol. I know some elderly who are still enjoying life and health have no issues at 70+. (to be safer, that is the reason why i plan to retire on 40+)

And that is also why i said the money being used to generate dividen / interests wouldn't be leaving untouched forever, you will use it one day, don't keep them unused.

How can that be? Don't think can simply report any reply. Check with admin to report the guy who simply report you.

Anyway, back to EPF again. My boss said i shouldn't put so much money into EPF, he thinks when a country having issue, the first thing government will do is using the retirement funds. But i personally still having faith on Malaysia / EPF, been hearing Malaysia / EPF will bankrupt since i was 10+ (living in restaurant and listening rumours / gossips everyday, all these kopitiam uncles / unties like having some secret channels to know all these secrets things).

Looks good for me, definitely can allow many people to retire without much problem, IMO. If have kids to give extra pocket money even better.

My parent retired at 55 around 20+ years ago, and i believe they had a few hundred K only that time (i suspected it was around 250-300k in total, no commitment on cars or house). Their lifestyle allowed them to stay alive till now (in a small town), and my father is almost 80 now.

It could be true...but if health goes south, means more money would be needed to spend on food supplement and long term medications, which might not be covered by insurance.
*
All the medicines my parent get (actually only my father needs them) are from government hospital, which are very cheap.

Hopefully Malaysia still able to control and give cheap medicines to patients for a long time.

Can get HBP and High Cholesterol pills from gov hospital?
*
Hmmm, few types of pills my parent takes, not sure what is HBP, but High Cholesterol pills should have if i am not mistaken.

I remember my parent told me when the hospital got stock, the staff will notify my parent to go there buy / take them.

----------------------

For EPF, i am wondering if these 1-2 years the FD rate will be very close to EPF rate or even surpass the EPF rate...

Also for those who already have 1mil inside. Increased to 100k is a good news for those > 1mil group.

As this was mentioned before the last round of withdrawal....
UP TO 46% members of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) below the age of 55 are having less than RM10,000 in their account,.

Wondering just how many (those really needed it) can withdrawal another 5k/10k??
*
These politicians just want to get votes, as long as 10 persons want to withdraw again, the politicians might be able to get 10 extra votes from this 10 persons... These politicians lose nothing by using country's tool as their politic weapon, but the citizens will be the one suffering the most.

QUOTE(gashout @ Nov 9 2022, 03:24 PM)
how much of epf ru guys putting as your retirement nest? and let it grow?

is 500k enough or 1 mil or...?
*
It depends on your lifestyle i guess. Personally, i would say > 1mil at least.

I want REAL retirement, so my money all in safe places like epf, FD, foreign currency account. When i say REAL, i meant i don't want to bother about checking what shares to buy, what investments to make, etc, altho these methods might give me higher return (but with the risk if losing money too or most importantly, need to make use of my time to decide which / what to invest)

I am wondering if that self contribution limit that was raised to 100k by the previous government still on?

If next year still has minimum 5% dividen, and if that limit is 100k, i will definitely pump in 100k.

For the above 50yo, i know it's just A/C2 la which is 30% or less of total coz of robbing for home loans XD

Last i checked the internet, it was from account 2 first, if account 2 not enough, then only will deduct from account 1.

I was hearing this since i was 12 years old. My parent opened a restaurant last time and i helped my parent in the restaurant, many uncles unties like to blow water every day and all of them know many secrets one tongue.gif rolleyes.gif . My parent also believed them and always "curi curi" told me / reminded me that EPF no more money already, already kena stolen by don't know who rolleyes.gif

After 30+ years later is still the same thing, people around me still telling me EPF kosong already, EPF dying soon, doubting me why still do self contribution into EPF.
