QUOTE(Sonyxperiatx @ Feb 8 2013, 12:44 AM) Not just video files...all media files. Read that the service constantly scans and indexes your SD card for media files.http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/suppor...r-xperia-ps103/ |

Most of the built in bloatware can't be disabled I thought? Can't uninstall either...

QUOTE(OptimusMaximus @ Apr 5 2013, 02:59 PM) Guys I have some more questions, hope can get some answers 1. Always been this way from my observations. Basically the discharging counter resets at 100%.1. Just found out that my battery needs to be charged until 100% before the battery history show the time from last charging. Quite weird 2. If just talking about the browsers that came with the phone without talking about Firefox that can be downloaded, you guys prefer Browser or Chrome? By the way the Browser is by Google? I don't really like it much though, I find Chrome better 3. What's the difference between Email and Gmail app? I am just using the Gmail app only because I already have a Gmail account. Only using Gmail app so far. 4. Is your Google account on your phone which is used for Google Play same as your Gmail account so u can check ur e-mails using the Gmail app? Or did u create a new Google account just for your phone? 2. I hate the built in Browser with a vengeance. Using Chrome now but it seems to be a bit of a performance hog. Heard good things about Dolphin browser but no time to test yet. 3. Only using Gmail app so far. 4. Not using my main Gmail account, which I check via the browser. I already had another Google account for registering stuff, newsletters, etc so I used that instead. All of these on stock ICS still as too busy to upgrade to JB yet. QUOTE(OptimusMaximus @ Apr 5 2013, 09:56 PM) Alright thanks for your feedback guys. I'm new to Android and Sony Xperia phones, so now at least I know I'm getting and knowing a few things right 1. All Google services/products are linked, so you can access any of them from one account. So basically yes, you can just use 1 single account and access all of the services provided by Google.Anyway some more noob questions relating to built-in apps in our phone: 1. A Google account that we use in our phone is the same account that is linked to Gmail ,Youtube and Google Play right? All this while I just use my desktop computer or laptop to login to my Gmail directly from gmail.com and I have no Youtube account so I'm not really used to Google services 2. What's the difference between Maps, Navigation, Local and Latitude? I actually don't use any of these services I think. And in Settings, under Personal>Location services, do u all enable any of the three options? It's not necessary right? We don't want our exact location to be known at all times, that's private isn't it? 3. What's WisePilot for Xperia? I don't think I use this program, Media Remote and Xperia Link, can we remove them? 4. What's the point of Explore other than for Sony to promote their products. And what's PlayNow ,appXtra and Sony Select for? They want me to agree to their terms when I first-time launch these 3 apps so I want to know what are they for before I agree to anything. 5. What's Google Settings for? There are just so many google settings that needs to be reviewed, and I think some of the settings makes our privacy more open...like Admob Ads and Web History..what the heck 2. Local gives suggestions on places to visit near your current location if i remember correctly. Isn't Maps = Google Maps? I don't usually use those 4 services, other forumers can probably give more insight. As for Location Services, yes you may disable it if you wish. Personally, I only switch it on when I need any particular app that requires my location to work effectively. (Basically, any mapping services = Waze, Google Map, etc.) On the other hand, if you like to post on Foursquare or Facebook about your location, then this will automatically simplify it. Note that GPS services will drain your battery faster... 3. I believe I removed WisePilot from my phone. As for Media Remote, useful only if you're going to link to a telly or other multimedia devices if i'm not wrong. Could be just for Sony compatible or Sony products. Xperia Link is for tethering the phone to a Xperia Tablet/Sony Vaio computer. Didn't try it so far. 4. Removed PlayNow (Sony's own app store, but it's crap and obsolete). Removed AppXtra as well so I can't remember what it was about. Never used Sony Select. 5. Google Search is your friend http://www.engadget.com/2013/02/27/google-...ster-g-sign-in/ http://www.androidcentral.com/about-google...ur-device-today |

Upgraded to JB and the first thing I noticed....
The time display at the top right corner is now missing the am/pm designation at the back? Is that normal? |
