I agree with kakak fruitie.

I signed up with umobile and tied up for 24 months so I can purchase a Blackberry for a cheaper price (only 300-400 cheaper). Regretted ever since, still another 10 months to go before i can port back to Maxis. Ditched the BB after 2 months and went for other phone biggrin.gif
*
Yea, I have the same problem too so none of my phones was bought together with any plan. sweat.gif

my 1st smartphone...  cry.gif

The site that you showed earlier should be able to give you an in-depth information.
First, you must determine how much you are willing to spend every month or how heavy is your usage?
Or,
If you don't go for plans, are you willing to buy the phone at RRP?

1. i'm not heavy user...cos got wifi at my college n home...
2. i'm not willing to buy the phone at RRP...
3. i think by buying plan n phone would be much more jimat than usual smile.gif
coz i think i maybe neec it for internet n social networking... smile.gif
*
OK, at least now it narrows down your options.
But I need to let you know, 1GB is barely enough for Note II. tongue.gif tongue.gif I have WiFi at home as well. laugh.gif
In long term basis, definitely buying phones bundled with plans is better choice as you will need to subscribe for a plan later. smile.gif

Next question, where is your location? If it is at Klang Valley, then nothing much to be worried about as even the infamous DiGi seems to work quite OK here. U Mobile works very well as well. smile.gif

Maxis' connection is really good though it is known as the premium brand. However, these days Maxis' plan seems to be quite competitive as well. smile.gif

Why don't you go for SurfMore50?

Buy Note 2 from Garage Sales, find the best deal for SME (21xx-2250 max) and sign up with Maxis iValue 50. Done  rclxm9.gif

I think she is looking to save more on the device by signing up for plans. smile.gif

If only those contracts were 12 months, then it would be perfect. 24 months abit too  doh.gif

SurfMore plans have 12-month as well. smile.gif

guys wanna confirm again... my friend AP set, he dunno which firmware he got ... so now if using PC odin to flash to Malaysian latest firmware, will all the data and apps wipe off?
*
He can check from Settings>About Device?
Plus, flashing from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2 should not wipe any data.

Anyway, I always wipe clean my data to avoid any issue. tongue.gif

Now you only need to know if you want to go for 12-month or 24-month contract. tongue.gif
Of course you could save more by paying lesser amount for the device (in actual fact, you will actually pay more in long term basis) with 24-more contract but I don't encourage this. smile.gif

Er, OMG I'm flattered by your comment. laugh.gif I'm always known as arrogant and I'm not so well-liked on LYN. tongue.gif tongue.gif

(com.facebook.katana.Facebook): 234.0 KBytes 61.5%
Will you consider on Friendcaster or Fast for Facebook Beta as an alternative app?
uninstall current facebook and install alternative facebook app and see how it's influence your battery life

Alarms: 178, Intent: android.intent.action.TIME_TICK
Other apps use it to wake up on specific times or intervals,
for instance you have a 'weather widget' that needs updating every 30 min or an application that checks your location every x min etc.

com.google.android.gsf (): Wakeups: 51
  Alarms: 2, Intent: com.google.android.intent.action.GTALK_RECONNECT
  Alarms: 1, Intent: com.google.android.intent.action.SEND_IDLE
  Alarms: 32, Intent: com.google.android.intent.action.MCS_HEARTBEAT
Signout from talk and disable this app. After you disable this app,
gsf (google service framework) will still trigger this alarm and you might need 3rd party apps to completely disable this 'unwanted' alarm wakeup

com.google.android.apps.maps (): Wakeups: 32
Can't help much since google map really annoying with 'unwanted'
alarm wake unless you follow this step to 'silence' the map HERE

*
Thanks for the analysis. Actually I noticed l2 hsic that drains my battery the most. I'm actually reading on some discussions now.

As for Google Talk, I don't even have this app installed. sweat.gif Already deselected it when I installed this app as it came as an optional.

that's mean gsf which intact with talk  that triggered your alarm. sending this nonsense to their server. disable this gsf using 3rd party app such autostarts or gemini app. personally i preferred autostarts  smile.gif
Intent: com.google.android.intent.action.MCS_HEARTBEAT

That means smile.gif
OK, will check that out now. Thanks!

worth to buy it. Even other app like viber, whatsapp, line and other app got it's own 'unwanted running' process. Since you wanted to try and error then gemini app will do. disable this 'unwanted' gsf:

In autostarts:
com.google.android.gsf.checkin.CheckinService

In Gemini as per below screen:
Menu>More>Expert Mode>Find Google Service Framework
*
Thanks. notworthy.gif
I have followed and disabled the settings based on your screenshot. biggrin.gif

Which modem has better battery life? I'm currently using UBDMA3, does anyone know how to flash to another modem considering I could find a zip file. Using CWM, is that possible?

It seems L2_HSIC issue could happen because of modem...

nehalem176 Just to let you know I have flashed to dlk7 modem and was using the method you suggested by deactivating some of the options in Gemini but the phone still woke up.
In the end, I changed back to default in Gemini and it solves the constant awake issue. rclxm9.gif
Looks like it's modem issue.

Absolutely. But who has locus standi to do it? Moderators. However where are they? That's why I did mention in one of my earlier posts that @joytest should become one and I even justified it.

We are not paid by LYN and that explains why we can't be here 24/7, do your part by reporting his post, so that the rest of the mod team can take action on him. If nobody reports, we will not know. No matter how active we are, we are human as well, we have our life outside of LYN. Please be fair to us, we don't owe any of you guys and we don't need to be here all the time. Thanks.
Though I'm always on this thread but could miss it out just like today as I'm on mobile the whole day, didn't notice that post.
Will warn him later.

Actually I don't trust in gemini app. the screenshot just for sake for your reference since it's free and after that I uninstalled it. Everything 'unwanted' process for certain app I disable in autostarts does not reflected at gemini app  hmm.gif  I disable service checkin for GSF and disable FD, now my phone got better deep sleep overnight. I'll post my dump tomorrow morning to show you my result  wink.gif  It is a good news that you figured it out to minimize your awake time  smile.gif
*
Yes, looking forward to your result. smile.gif

i feel like getting note 2 just because its hardware and screen size. but it is worth to get a set which s pen cant be used? i dont think s pen is necessary for me and it much cheaper than ori set
*
sweat.gif Are you sure that is Note II? Even if the S-Pen cannot be used, it can be fixed at Samsung service centre.
I'm afraid that's a clone Note II.
