QUOTE(free_enuf @ Jul 12 2013, 08:44 PM) 4rings no offense, but there are huge mistakes in your statements. Excessive protein and fat dont get excreted. They are stored as reserved form of energy aka adipose tissue aka fat. Try eating 4000kcal of protein and fat a day but only burn 3000kcal. The extra 1000kcal will partially used to repair the muscles you broke down in the gym and the extra will be converted in the liver to glycogen or fat. And carbs are not all evil. Just gotta know whats simple carbs and complex carbs. Two basic rules in cutting. 1. You gotta be in calorie deficit to lose those fat. 2. In order to preserve those hard earned muscle when you are in calorie deficit (which is inevitable) you adjust your macro in a way that protein makes up a bigger percentage. And by all mean avoid simple carbs. I totally agree and could not agree more. Creating an appropriate caloric deficit/set caloric intake appropriately is the fundamentals of fat loss. Maybe high fat/low carb can help you lose weight faster in short term due to water loss and glycogen depletion, but in long term calories deficit determine how much fat you can loss.High fat/low carb diet sounds interesting to everyone which you can eat all the fatty meat you want. However, I tried to google around about this diet. Lots of supporters said they had great results following this diet but......no one show their pictures to prove. On the other hand, those who achieve low bf% with picture shown, their diet is pretty simple...calories deficit with good protein, complex carbs and good fat. Free_enuf, you had great result on your cutting diet with your pictures proven. Maybe you can give us some advice on how you diet works. Lots of conflicting information out there telling you can eat all you want but still losing fat make beginners like us confused and always skip the fundamentals. "New", controversial & uniqueness catch people attention. To calculate the total calories for the diet given by 4ring Breakfast ... 6 whole eggs fried with 2 tablespoon ghee (656 cal, 77p/2c/56f) Lunch ... 300g lean beef fried with red palm oil (758 cal, 79p/0c/48f) Post workout ... 50g whey protein isolate with 2 tablespoon olive oil (419 cal, 30p/3c/29f) Dinner ... 6 whole eggs raw with 2 tablespoon red palm oil. (656 cal, 77p/2c/56f) Supper ... Steamed whole chicken thigh or 1 small steamed tilapia with ginger and 2 tablespoon red palm oil. (460 cal, 84p/0c/34f) Total (2949cal, 347p/7c/223f - 47%P/0%c/53%f) Well, we can see total of 3000cal per day is not that much for those who lifts daily. The diet is simply strict if you ask me, no junk food, no sugar, pretty consistent, if you can follow the strict diet like that, why not follow a good diet combine good protein, good complex carb and good fat. My opinion, high fat low carb diet is suitable for those who lazy to count calories and sensitive to carb. Because high fat diet help you stay full longer. |

QUOTE(lilredridinghood @ Jul 16 2013, 10:52 AM) I know a couple of NOT-SO silent forummers here who is on this high fat, low carb diet. Really? Hope they can share their real life experience on high fat, low carb diet. But I do believe that calories intake is the key lor, then only play around with the macro ratio. Needless to say, their results, erm, may shock you. I am not saying high fat, low carb does not work. What is right is what works for you. |
