I just called up to Nikon Technical support line. Guess what. The dust and oil issue is not recognize by Nikon Malaysia.
Reason : Statement released by Nikon USA / Nikon Europe is not the same region as Nikon Malaysia (which is under Nikon Asia) region

17-55 and 17-50 different alot? if so the i think i will save up my budget and get a 17-55 2nd hand, but most people ask to go for 1750 wor, can save money for other things...
yea most prob gonna go FF bah... thats why thinking about buy the 17-50 or don buy, save for 24-70...
brother using le.. ._.

Buy Nikkor 18-70. Cheap and good whistling.gif

QUOTE(teetaatee @ Apr 24 2013, 01:11 AM)
17-50mm im using, got pros and cons
pros
sharp at 2.8
cheap

cons
when shoot at 17mm, right side will blur a little, i also dont know why, might be the lens problem
focusing slow, noisy
plastic build

17-55mm
very good lens, sharp, focusing fast and silent, very nice color quality
but
heavy and costly.. lol
*
Tamron is lousy ! f4 still quite soft

QUOTE(gerald7 @ Apr 24 2013, 01:45 AM)
the 17-55 is defiantly worth to buy. even if you sell, if its in good condition the price wont dip too low. But I see from your signature, you already have so many primes. you sure you want a 2.8? From my experience those with many primes dont usually play zooms xD

@bold rclxms.gif

QUOTE(BlizzardCraft @ Apr 24 2013, 02:12 AM)
hmm okay... i'll invest in it ba... i need it for events.. 35mm for streets, 85mm for portrait.. so far still trying to use 35mm for events lah... paksa paksa can loh, just group shot more than 6++ people left to right will be hard abit...

so you're suggest go for 1755 only go 2470? dont str8 jump?

Btw spam biggrin.gif

17-55 personally i don't really fancy it. My friend using it for 1yr+ then when touch 24-70, straight sell 17-55
Tho, not that wide but he got UWA to compensate la.
If your situation, you have flash, f/2.8 is not a must. Why not opt for something cheaper eg Nikkor 18-70 ? Tamron, personally i feel the color is wash out. If you compare side by side with nikkor lens.
Nikkor 18-70 used only cost about 600 rolleyes.gif

dear sifus,

any recommendations for tripods, multipurpose use, basically indoors and traveling?
budget RM300-400 maybe?

first time buying so I'm not looking for those really pro types.

What do you think of Benro?
*
Get Beike. THere is one imitate 190XPROB which cost only RM 120 include ball head laugh.gif

using Beike Pro 471
so far so good...the only complain is it not able to support the total weight when i mount tamron 70-300 with either D600 or D7000. i try to tighten the plate very tight already, but then can see it slowly getting down when zoom to 300mm.

will changing the ballhead help? or just changing the plate with bigger contact area with the camera?
*
I change to manfrotto ballhead. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(Decky @ Apr 24 2013, 06:40 PM)
Hey guys.

I realized after taking quite a few pics with the D600 + 35mm f2D combo that I have a hunger for a little more sharpness.

Feel like selling of the 35mm lens to get the 50mm 1.8G  and slowly save up for either the siggy/nikon 35mm f1.4

I feel bummed sometimes that I can't shoot at f2 ):
I think while I still really love the versatility of the 35mm focal length, I'm sacrificing quite abit by using the f2D lens.
Good idea?

I'm broke right now, but if I manage to sell the lens and get the 50, I should be able to save up for an SB-700 soon!
*
Well, get Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art brows.gif
2.8k only. Build like CZ, sharpness better than Nikkor.
Even DxO Mark quoted that the best 35mm f/1.4 so far !

I hope they improved on the AF accuracy, I had horrible experience with the 50mm Sigma... made me use my 50mm f/1.8D even more reliable LOL!

The build is really impressive.
But if you jatuh the lens, definitely bye bye laugh.gif

Build looks good definitely, just the AF capability of the 35mm Sigma. Not the speed, but the consistency to nail the shot. Sensors like 36MP of D800 really demanding...
*
Go try out.
It's everywhere now. biggrin.gif

see lo, 85mm i use to blur lightings and all.. need to make sure the background colour nice.. bokeh only come out nice.. if colour plain then result also *meh* only... sometimes wan more of the background de i use 35mm... what lens u used for that? btw if UWA f2.8 the bokeh will be there bo?
i oso using D7000, normally u boost ISO to how much max? i normally max oso 1600 nia, if despo only 2k... but 1600 oso noise start coming out le.. 1200 there stil okay.
the sigma AF capability not good ah?  blink.gif  like that means its the IQ quality which makes it claim the first place among 35s in DxO?

Sigma launching 24mm 1.4 for APS-C soon btw.
Sigh all the new ART series lens for crop only.
Saving up for the 35mm 1.4 though.
*
APS-C ? I doubt. Will be like 35/1.4 which can be used on FF as well.
