Looks like there wont be any phone function on the 2nd gen Nexus 7 as well.

The spec sheet states APQ8064 without the T iteration. So its S4.

Hehe, I am actually using the phone capabilities for my prepaid cellular. Only the phone features can work with USIM codes to check balance, top-up credits etc.

And as a bonus, since my prepaid cellular is giving free minutes and sms to all telco every month....the tablet with phone function would be convenient for me to spend those free credits

It'll be a pain to have to take out the simcard every now and then and have a spare phone nearby to do the top-up, balance check n to call/sms

The one year warranty is inclusive of the internal batteries.

The *118# and other similar codes are all called USIM codes. The Nexus 7 does not have phone function, thus not able to support USIM codes.

You have to take out the sim and put into other phone to do all the USIM functions (topup, check balance, subscribe UMI Internet).

So far nothing announced during the recent Google I/O.

If you are going to wait....there's no telling how long you're gonna have to wait.

If you need something now, I'd say go ahead and get one to use it right away. New models will keep coming out once every year some devices even twice a year, there's really no end to waiting, you'll end up with nothing if you keep waiting.

For those deciding on ipad mini and those complaining of its low resolution....the ipad mini 2 most probably with retina display should be coming out end of the year maybe November.
