I am planning to go there during December, may be end of December
But I don't know what should I do because 1st time organize this for myself
Used to just join friends for trip. Sorry for being a noob here >"<
I am not sure shall I buy the air ticker from air asia only then go straight to Langkawi or how
Which area is the best to stay? I am not into swimming just want to relax.  unsure.gif  unsure.gif  unsure.gif

Pantai Cenang's beach motels biggrin.gif

If you're not into swimming there's lotsa stuff to do.. go island hopping (feed eagles, maiden lake), go gunung mat cinchang etc

you can visit my blog to see what I did in my 2D1N stay.. got some contacts for the motel and island hopping if you want smile.gif

They will be so many car rental agent at airport and I guess you do not need to booking through online. You can take a look 1st at the car, then proceed to the next stage. Its better because we can negotiate the car rental price with the agent. About motorbike, it would be pricey if you take scooter because most of european tourist prefer scooter more than a car. If I remember correctly, 24 hours scooter rental is about Rm40-50.It about the same price for Iswara !

Guys, i might be planning a return trip to langkawi some time in May with gf... It's gonna be another 4D3N trip just like my previous visit there in 2006 (long time back!)... Just to ask, has any1 stayed at the Westin Langkawi Resort? I loved the place when we stepped in during one evening drive after shopping in Kuah (that time, it was still the Sheraton Perdana) and am seriously considering making it our accommodation place for the coming trip... What do u think?

Also, how much are the rates u guys paid for rental of an automatic-transmission car? I drove a manual car the last time around and unfortunately, my gf didn't get the experience of driving in Langkawi because of this...

Oh ya, before i forget, one major screw-up of my previous trip was missing out on a trip to the reknowned Payar Island... So just to ask, tix to Coral Payar are available at the booths near Jetty Point ya? And what are the prices of the tickets, btw?

i oledi booked for the it..around 480 per person.i choose the langkasuka hotel..i think the price is quite reasonable coz if u just get the air ticket for both ways oledi more than 200 if u just can get the normal price but not the promotion price..so depends to you lo..if take the package then don need headaches about the hotel..
*
Oh ok, u took the Langkasauka Resort... It's the one that is closest to the airport, just a 5-10 mins drive and it was where i stayed during my trip to Langkawi in 2006... Quite a comfortable hotel with nice pool and reasonable facilities, but the beach has not much of waves as it's sheltered by the Port Langkasuka breakwater...

Interesting review there, thanks for the link bro!

Btw, how about Sheraton Langkawi? That Starwood hotel looks more traditional and is very near the airport, although quite a distance from Kuah... Furthermore, the rooms are more traditional ya, rather than the contemporary theme of the Westin...

Yeah...I go there too to survey about the hotel but unfortunately there are no superior/deluxe room available at that time, so I decided to go to Westin. 1 more thing I discover that, if money is not a problem to you, try The Datai or Four Seasons rclxms.gif smile.gif You will never find in Malaysia the resort are so beautiful and serviced are unbelievable.

Sheraton look old from outside but I guess inside room got something special for Starwood Preferred Guest. I dont have opportunities to go and see inside the room.

yes, its tax free for life!!!

at the airport you can discuss the car rental fees.. look for the last counter at the left hand side and ask (not car rental counter)... its more cheaper than the "car rental counter" on the right..

Hmmm....Bayview i think it is the one in Kuah.
Being in town itself without beachfront, if i am not mistaken.
Should be clean and okay but boring.
Car rental people will bug you at the airport.
Haggle with them for the best price.

Stayed there 10 years ago... smile.gif. They refurbished the hotel since then. Nice hotel but no beach... ask for sea view room otherwise you get the mountain view... but all views can see rooftops...

car rental no nid to worry la.. go there and haggle till cows come home at the airport. If you are going on weekdays, you probably will get better rates. Last I got Sentra 4d3n for 250/=.

10 years is a pretty long time.
10 years pass and Hilton KL moved to Sentral and the old one has become Crowne Plaza tongue.gif
The Wira i rented was pretty cheap, i think 25-35 per day.
I not going unless u invite me wub.gif
