QUOTE(zacevox @ Dec 18 2007, 06:03 PM)
1. has anyone live in Beach Hotel at pantai cenang cuz it's a budget backpacker hostel. RM20 pernight per head. comments pls.
should be very basic
2. is there any to do in pantai cenang? are there any happenings during christmas in langkawi? what the food?
walking on the beach and the kiosk next to the road, or you want island hoping, scuba diving or jetski also got
should be very boring compare to big city in malaysia.
nice food only can found in kuah area.
3. going with a group of 9 people. do u think it's cheaper to travel using van or bicycle?
bicycle? take van lah.
4. it takes 45 minutes ride from pantai cenang to kuah town?
i think it take less than thhat

Added on December 18, 2007, 6:04 pm
just bargain with the dealer lah, my friend get a saga for 2 day only 100 or less!

Added on December 18, 2007, 6:06 pmcan below 18 bring alcoholic out from langkawi or not? anyone know?
*
1. i forgot which one is beach hotel but i lived at hotel langkapuri, very good service, simple and nice for people like us rm70 a night with tv n air cond, shining toilet bowl shower with water heater and cannot find dust, very near to seaside, if rm90 is seaside view.the single bed i slept with my gf no problem, got two bed so i think can sleep 4 person. the rm20 i visited is a flat, located opposite the normal hotel that's beside the seaside and got lots of trees, sand, super dirty that i not dare to move there. the other the rm20 or cheaper ( i think, forgot oledi ) is near to the beach but super pack, like the room only one single bed, one row of building can see got more than 20 room, the room look like toilet size,it's a no no for me. shower must go outside sharing with many room, like a flat, very dirty,no tv,fridge, and only got fan.

2. pantai cenang not much thing to do, kuah town better... pasar malam bigger there... food cannot expect too much, no pork policy... chinese restaurant chop head 99.

3. if u go by ferry more choice of transportation but far from pantai cenang. take air plane when walk out is car rental. its better get a van, if not mistaken is rm80 or lesser a day. depends on how u bargain. if not, get two kancil and squeeze in, i get rm40 @ day kancil no problem with air cond super cold. only can find 2 seated bicycle @rm30 i think

4. from pantai cenang to kuah town, if the driver new as me just get P license... can reach there in 15-20 minutes so i think not that far. the sign board super easy to follow when u lost just drive to t junction then see map...

car must see one la... if have time then bargain ... if like me i just straight to the point... so if u r good at bargain, then bargain lo... if off peak sure can get cheap...

i think the airport doesn't check on age , as long as ur outlook doesnt look like a kiddo at all, i think it should be no problem. when check in baggage, i include one yomeishu for my mom inside the baggage, and ask the airport people put fragile, they will refuse to put if u say got alcohol inside... we said we bring pinggan mangkuk. then hand carry another one litre. when we get back the bag, no leaking... they handle my bag quite nicely... i bring 2 litre back to kl that day

TQ I just call them to ask for car rental prices but unfortunately the price is expensive .Example for kancil only can get Rm70 no discount.Anybody have another car rental services phone number?
*
this is a not so good car rental guy but the old kancil @rm 40 when off-peak, standard price at rm50. just walk out from airport.

I went to Langkawi during mid Nov 07, stayed at Malibest. They actually served me very well.
Im not sure abt tree top but i like my family suite, clean and very nice location.
I saw the tree tops, i wish i could stay there but they were all occupied cry.gif

This is one of the tree tops offered by Malibest - right on the beach, facing the sea of course.

And this is the beach (at the back of Malibest office)

hey guys. i just got back from langkawi yesterday night. all i can say is, if u are not a smoker or drinker, better go redang or perhentian.

ACCOMODATION:
we stayed in berjaya langkawi. beach not bad. but food very limited, not nice, and expensive. according to the staff, this month mostly are tourist from russia. next month going to be arabians. during my stay there, i have not bump into any local guest. can u believe it??
they have nice pool but not deep enough. only about 1.5m. to get to the hotel lobby/beach/pool, u will need to call for the in house shuttle service cuz it will be too far for u to walk from the chalets.
berjaya is also quite far from the various tourist spot. 30 min to kuah, 30 min to tanjung rhu... the nearest is the cable car ride which is only 10 min walk from the hotel.

FLIGHT:
air asia of course! check in counter only open 2 hours before departure. the flight is around 40 minutes only. not 1 hour as mention in the schedule.
LANGKAWI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT have very limited food, shopping etc. they only have Kenny Rogers and starbucks. no foodcourt. only have one duty free shop each selling cosmetics, liquor, cigarettes, chocolates. price are much more expensive than kuah town.

PLACES I WENT:
mangrove tour which include eagle feeding. very very nice view and experience. cable car ride. and also walking around kuah town and the local pasar mlm. pasar malam is a waste of time i think because its has no difference compare to those in kl.

thank god for the nice weather when i am there!

some photos to share. (taken with 1.3megapixels camera phone)

i jus back from langkawi today.... as i promised, i m here to share wit lyn member abt nadias inn... the hotel is jus a very normal hotel... without nice environment, food, decoration, n the tv aso oni can watch tv1, tv2 n tv3 oni... but if u r those tat will spend most of the time at outside, i guess tis hotel should be no prob... tis bed is very comfortable to me as itz very soft n u can sleep soundly on it... tongue.gif

tis thing i dun lik abt tis hotel is the toilet... the toilet bowl is so dirty n the toilet paper is wet... mad.gif

if u all wanna go langkawi, i will suggest go langkapuri or malibest... trust me... tis 2 is the best hotel in pantai cenang as u can see the beach once u go out from the door...

n for the food, dun go restaurant lucky which situated opposite nadias inn... tis food sucks... better go palm view... tis food is nice n fresh, but will be slightly expensive... recommended 2 go zeno duty free shop n wawasan baru if u wanna buy choc or liquor at kuah town... the best price i found afte survey so many shop... laugh.gif

here are some pic 2 share...

some pic of the room in nadias inn...

KL - Alor Setar Bus ticket = Rm30 Most of bus to Alor Setar is from Pudu except Transnasional. From Alor Setar Bus terminal, u can take taxi Rm10-15 , bus Rm2 to Kuala kedah Jetty.

I just got back From Langkawi trip. Actually planning to go 5 days 4 night but end it 8 days 7 night.

Here My itinerary :-

Car Renting
- Rent A new Kia Rio at rm60 for 24 hours ( Negotiating 45 minute to get the price). Contact Bayu Adventures 0175423087

1/2/3/4th Day

- Check in at Mutiara Burau Bay at Rm 300 per nite and staying there for 3 nite. Overall I can rate Mutiara is quite nice hotel. During my stay only me and my friend was malay and other than that was european. You can watch topless european sunbathing at beach smile.gif

Service : 4/5
Room/Amenities : 2/5 (The room was so small)
Surrounding : 5/5
Overal : 4/5

4/5/6 Day

- I managed to get cheap rate for The Datai at 1100 per nite at Deluxe Villa using Citibank Credit Card.Staying there for 2 nite
- The surround , hotel and everything was fabulous. Its great to compare this hotel with Pangkor Laut.

Service : 5/5
Room/Amenities : 5/5
Surrounding : 5/5
Overall : 5/5 Perfect for those who love luxury hotel in Nature surround

6/7/8 Day

- Check in at The Westin for Deluxe Room at rm475 for internet rate for 2 nite
- The hotel was in great location near to yacht club but I dont like much about this hotel since its modern type of hotel and too near with Kuah Town.I just love "heavenly bed" at The Westin smile.gif

Service : 5/5
Room/Amenities : 5/5
Surrounding : 3/5 ( Modern type of Hotel )
Overall : 4/5

Place Must Visit :

-Those historical places ( I dunt go there...hahaha)
