welcome new owner ...its worth it. erm one thing concerns me ur next engine oil change...why 5w50? fully synthetic ok but 5 ok 50???? to my knowledge 50 is usually for racing right???? and if you look in the manual it recommends 5w30. 50 won't harm to the engine since ur 1.8. but its a waste since ur car is new why not get 30 or 40?50 weight is heavier than 30 right.correct me if i'm wrong here guys...

really sorry bro to make u ....u see currently i'm using 5w30 petro canada semi. HE recommend us 10w40 helix h7. good engine oil...its general to say new cars use 5w30 engine oil. 2nd hand car 5 years above 10w40 engine oil. more than 10 years better get new car!!!!! u see i once tried 5w50 for my old car honda civic ek. usually pour in 10w40. but since oil always getting less...shop recommends 5w50. oil is thick so will never go away. but drawback is it makes my car feel heavy after drive first time..so i let the oil blend in for 5 days. but still, feel the same heavy...so i decided to change back to 10w40. instantly the car feels lighter is before.so its clearly the oil makes my car feels heavy...other thing can make the car feel heavy is over fill engine oil. the next morning i check the dipstick and its true the engine was overfill alot..so next day ask them to take out the oil. after that car feels as normal...this my experience so u could ask others opinion before make any decision...

since shell introduce ron95, i stop using shell until today. i use only petron or BHpetrol. caltex have less station...my wifes car previously use petronas...now use petron. can feel the pickup...shell & petronas are adik beradik one...

what is the definition of the 1st 2 digits? and also the definition of the last 2 digits? viscosity and???

The two numbers on that you are referring is actually referring to the viscosity of the fuel oil.
Since there is two numbers it's considered multi-grade with the first two digit 5W (W) stand for Winter.
In other word, the viscosity of the fuel oil during winter or cold start.

In reality there is no Full Sync or Semi Sync.
There is only Sync or Non Sync (Mineral Base).
But local manufacturer had classified them as semi-sync so that they can profit from it.

yup. ok. feel lighter. but not that much because after a while u forget but it. with helix i've use once(1000km only) so not sure whether PC there is a fuel savings. rm70 can go 450km(petron) but what i'm concern is the protection. every morning start there is tet tet tet sound. but its normal in the morning(24 Celsius temp) after warm up sound goes away...

just that i avoid common brands like shell, petronas, mobil coz of recycle oil. petro canada in malaysia only 1 distributor. so originality is gerenti..

since the demand is high i reveal my secret rm70 450km

before 1000km service i didn't look at all the FC because i feel the car like heavy.(because engine parts still new, net yet loose)so no use at looking FC. after 1000km, i change oil to Petrol Canada Supreme Synthetic 5w30 and i bought potent booster. i pour in petron ron95 rm70.(in car have 2 bars left) at night.

my journey to office every day is 90km. start morning(time 6.30) town cheras bt9(jam about 5 minits), then hway(clear)speed 120km, end in shah alam(clear).  journey back start town shah alam(jam 5 minits) then hway(jam 30 minits) end town cheras batu 9 (jam 5 minits). saturday and sunday town strolling for 10kms. total rm450km.(left 2 bars at dash)remaining 113km.

i also use potent booster to help me to lower my FC. Use Mode EC level 3. never use HA or FA.

just finish my test for BHpetrol so rm70 i get 422km only. power feel slightly low if compare to petron. after this back to petron.

my conclusion potent booster, type of petrol, type of engine oil 5w30, pump gas in night time,journey in low temp(morning & evening),speed below 120kmh and lighter leg helped me get better mileage

thats my secret. FOC. my old 1.8 honda vtec rm70 can get 400km. many say its impossible to get that in B18c type r ron95 high cams...its the bond between man and machine they say. talk to ur car. it hears you... 

potent booster ur paying not just to boost your FC there 2 more modes to make ur car faster...really helpful if ur trying to get out from roundabout...the car jumps wow...really...sure can smoke other cars...i never try before coz sayang krete ma...but u can feel the car can go much faster than b4...

what ever the oil is as long as its original...safe for ur engine protection is most important.

wah, y so good in FC one. I filled up my 1st tong, and currently only run for 290km and it left 2 bars to go............i took my car on last Sat and seems it not really good in FC

For 40 litres of petrol.... My 1.6 Elantra gave me 590 kms!! I am really happy about it!!
I dont have any problem. This 590 Kms is after first service.....before that it gave me 560 only!!!

true...got to test them all and then will know which is better...and another teori is that if combine between petrol brand also can give better mileage...for instance, i fill petron whereby in my tank still have petrol shell.(about 2 bars) and it give me 450km rm70 petron.

now in my tank all petron, fill petron another rm70, couldn't get 450km..driving condition is the same... means here that if want to do testing need to empty current fuel in tank untill fuel light come out then fill another brand of petrol. if not it will give inaccurate results in FC.

it happens to previous with my honda vtec type r engine...i get better mileage(power is retained) when i mix bhp and petronas... bhp mix with others don't work...

its  . but its unpractical to mix fuel as u will waste fuel going to 2 stations...unless u mix petrols that is next to each other...but still its 

but i've done it as its the only choice i have if not the honda will be underpowered and get worst FC. people say I have the best FC for my honda type r car. the secret was mix fuel...

I think it's somehow related to my short distance route mayb??.. daily 10km from home to work.. no traffic jam.. only 2 traffic with short stopage, 10 to 15 min reach office..if my wife drive to work (her work place is more than 20KM from home).. she tend to get better mileage ( ask her how much she say better but dunno the figure...duh )...Also I'm a bit heavy foot..but previously I do try on to be gently on the pedal and always watch for the eco lite on.. does not help much.. only only~10km extra..mayb need light foot surgery
