Planning to get 1.6 HS. Appreciate if any active forumer can list down all the potential/known issues and whether it is fixable by SC. So far I have identified below. I understand that all cars have their own issues but just want to prepared for upcoming potential issue.

a) bad radio reception - not an issue to me
b) brake noise during emergency brake - I assume it is fixable

Yesterday test drove a 2012 test drive 1.6HS with 5k millage. Still in good condition but noticed one thing. When I sit behind, when go through bumps, holes or uneven road, there's "ngek ngek" sound from the back seat left and right side as well just below the ear. Should be due to friction between leather seat with the side. Anyone encounter the same issue and found any solution for that?

I think what you heard is from the friction between the 4 door rubber lining to the side of the car body, every on and off I need to apply silicon lub on all the rubber lining to reduce the friction sound.. rainy season some more worst.. the lubs get wash off more frequent and need to apply more frequent.. quite annoying though sad.gif

SC also apply lub on it when i complaint..haiz~~ no permanent solution
*
I still think it is the leather seat because there's no noise at the front seat at all. There is no noise when nobody is sitting at the back. Test drive another 1.6HS, 15k mileage, got noise at back right side but very mild.
Test drived a new unit, no noise at back seats and noticed that there's a transparent plastic (actually plastics are everywhere in the new car for protection) between the side of the seats and the side of the car. Maybe thats the solution. i just need to make sure i dont remove that plastic in my new car. SA claim this new car will be their test drive car waiting to be registered so no worries to test it. Also tried the emergency break at 50km/h for this new 2013 car and no break noise/sound

This is the original one in 1.8 or original one in non-Malaysia Elantra? Got pic or link? Will this void warranty?

Does it means modification done at AG will not void warranty because they are SC?

Another option to choose for phone/GPS hold in case you don't like existing ones. This one hold onto the CD slot. Just got it today from a LYN seller. If interested you can search for this product name MOUNTEK in LYN forum

Looks good. How much you paid for it?
*
rm80 but i think it is reasonable. if you check at ebay or amazon, it is $20 not including delivery to asia. quality is quite good, not like cheap plastic.

mine 1.8 2013 also have really soft abs at the back...i notice if have passenger at back really obvious the swinging of car if the road uneven...(not potholes). never my whole life to experience this. my previous car with adjustable soft hard...also like this. but i can adjust the abs to hard...settle...

so SC can except this problem? does ur car did alignment after install new abs and springs?
*
I thought the soft abs happens for 2012 only. Just to share, mine 2013 1.6HS, abs very stiff, go through bump quite bumpy. Unlike previous car Vios, abs very soft, go through bumper very nice but when cornering like floating.

From day 1 until now (3.5k millage), full tank consistently travel at least 550km. Ron 95 at 16 cents per km. What is your car millage now?

I also hope my Elantra can go up to 500KM with full tank.. sad.gif
Wad to do to make it have a good FC
*
Your case are odd because initially you can go up to 500km, some of us getting 550++ because of driving pattern.
But now (21k millage) you are getting 380km with the same driving pattern definitely is abnormal. Can go complain SC directly with this observation.

Hi guy I was plan to buy a new car between elentra and new honda civic and my first choice are elentra vecause of his great design and also I have test drive it great but I am worry about few thing
1) the quallity of the car because I will want to drive it till 18 years just like my satria .can elentra tahan

2) the price for the spare parts is elentra expensive

3) also the oil consumption is it save minyak

4) service charge is it expensive .normal service for honda and toyota is around 170++.will elentra more than that

Hope some one in here can help
*
Just sharing my opinion and I own elantra 1.6HS.
1)Reliability: Korean is still korean, reliability is something they cant improve in short term and cannot compared to matured Japanese brand. I don't think it can last as long as a Japanese car.
2) Quality: My Elantra did not have major issue, just some rattling noise in dashboard during high speed ~ 140 and at another location that only appears under rough road condition. I guess these rattling noise are common for CKD cars including Japanese
3) Fuel: Car still new, 4k mileage, constantly getting 16cents per km using Shell. 1.8 will be more expensive based on the feedback in forum
4) Service charge: Should be the same as Japanese, you can easily request your SA for the price list. BTW my 1k service is RM170++
5) Car price: I still decide to go for Korean because cannot find C-segment Japanese car below 100k. Mazda 3 1.6 are close but have space concern.

I also did consider Civic but after you join their club facebook, you will read many negative feedback unless you getting the Civic Hybrid. You should consider Mazda 3 other C segment cars from other Japanese brand instead of Civic

I just sent my car to SC, and they scanned my car twice and told me at high speed that is the sound of ABS.  laugh.gif

As for the steering wheel, I just noticed there's no more noise.
*
There is an issue of loud noise during emergency break at 60km/h onwards. If you google online, oversea Elantra also got this brake pad issue. Someone local owner got it fix, not sure if I read it here or Facebook. I have the same problem but SC just logged in report during first service. To me nothing major because I seldom emergency brake. I dont think my case is ABS kick in because there is no light indicator it is active.

As for turning stering during full stop, I seldom do it, even if do also turn a bit only, so far no sound. Mine 1.6HS

My free labor last until 40k (or 20k need to recheck receipt). I bought from Advant Speed and sending to their SC for service can waive labor until 20/40k
