Hey guys, what tools should I download to flash kernel? I'm thinking of try the motley that you guys talking about and then only try the franco.

by the way, what apps of file manager you guys using?
*

tool? Any custom recovery will do. Just remember to use the stock kernel reset zip in motley's or faux thread when switching kernel if you are using stock rom.

If you are using a custom ROM, dirty flash your ROM again when moving from a custom kernel to another.

Kernel choice is subjective, all have their different perks. So many to try, franco, faux, motley's, trinity, harsh, matrix, intersect raven, bricked and others that I can't remember now.

I am going to franco latest kernel soonish. Oh I use es file explorer,

i read in trinity and motley, u can use this in terminal to determine online cores:
echo 4 > /sys/module/auto_hotplug/parameters/min_online_cpus
*
that command will set your minimum number of core to be 4. not good for battery.

to view number of min core, use this:

cat /sys/module/auto_hotplug/parameters/min_online_cpus

if your kernel support auto_hotplug, the core management already take care of number of core depending on cpu usage.

if i m not mistaken, franco kernel support auto_hotplug. stock kernel does not have such thing.

auto_hotplug is a complex piece of code (together with intellidemand governor), i dont fully understand it yet so i m not adding these into my kernel.

for stock kernel, the cores are managed by mpdecision. many developers complains about it mainly because it is not open source and there is no way to tweak it.

for me, i m still using mpdecision. can achieve 6 hours SOT...

to save battery, conservative governor.

but i m using the default "on demand" governor... can achieve 6 hours SOT too... sweat.gif

ps: if u using franco kernel, try intellidemand... it is supposed to be an enhancement over the standard On Demand, for best battery / smooth ration...

in short, conservative will be biased towards lower clock speed. by default, Google is using interactive on demand, they are improving the interactive governor a lot though.

since u are using r62..i wan to ask..will r62 will keep online for 4 cores?or only use it when necesary?
While i am using r53, i use perfmon to monitor my cores usage. I tested when i play subway suffer it only use up 1 core only, while playing undead slayer, it sometimes will get up to 2 cores. But it is still smooth...

since u are using r62, the core management is good??did this revision did any better improvement compare to r53?
*
By my experience. R62 will never throttle to 4 cores unless u not using ondemand governor. It will be on 2 cores all the time. tongue.gif u want 4 cores u can switch to other governor. N well, it depends, some user experienced good with r62 and some are not. I didnt try r53. I was always on test kernel for now. laugh.gif

For me I just speak like "flight <flight code>" (e.g. "flight KL 809") in the voice search @ Google Now. It'll show the flight status card.

haven't pick up mine yet. bought a grey one from racerx. the yellow one belongs to a forumer in xda.

even with rev 2, there are reports of peelings issue. but hey, they give 3 years warranty. so i'd use it till they get it right in whichever rev in the future.
