QUOTE(zweimmk @ Feb 8 2013, 11:41 AM) Keep practicing okay? You'll definitely get there one day Happy Lunar New year to you too...Oh yeah, Happy Lunar New Year btw. Got a fat bonus I hope? Fat Bonus? Adalah sikit sikit, 5 figures, so am not complaining. One needs to count his /her blessings nowadays these days. Practise some more, sure, but need your help though, pratise needs dummies like the Shaolin Wooden Men and if you can provide, sure I will practise until achieve mastery. Note: I am not implying dummies as in referring to one's IQ, but dummies as in Crash test dummies, hope you get the picture... My experience with 408 NA? Well I have to humbly admit I've just owned the car since late Sept/early Oct 2012, so to me, it is too soon (afterall it has just been a couple of months, and i am not even reaching 10,000 km mileage yet) to boastfully say I know it all Mister unlike some cocky fellows who don't even own the car and claim as if they know it better) but so far so good, it meets all my expectations and pleasantly surprises me in some area. Why do you want to know from me alone? I am no different from other owners and you can read what they have written here especially all my taikos and taije who owns it since May 2012 or not so later. But i am curious why? want to ditch the Passat and get a 408 and join us? |

http://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?f...01&sec=business
http://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?f...siness/12458875 Nasim sold 2,800 units of Peugeot cars in 2010, 5,400 units (2011) and was aiming to sell 9,300 units(2012) but reported only 6,500 actual in 2012. Not bad lah a 20% jump in sales, but could do better-one thing they really need to overcome is the financing part IMHO, what they have done in Nov/Dec 2012 is a good sign (staggered financing), so the effect is seen even here -the exponential growth of Pug 408 owners, see how the owner list has grown. QUOTE(lowpro @ Feb 8 2013, 03:04 PM) if you are referring to MAA then it is 6114 (2012) vs 5,345 (2011) so it is a 14.39% jump instead of the expected 20%.If you are saying don't think my opinion that the financin stagger financing is the missing link. Well like I say it is just my opinion |

QUOTE(zweimmk @ Feb 8 2013, 03:45 PM) Good good, having a fat bonus will ultimately work towards your goal of owning a bigger and better car or house whichever you prefer Is FC your question? well , if you have read it all up here in this thread (which you should) FC will improve after 10,000 km service according to my fellow owners here, i have not done my 10,000 km service so i will tell you once i have crossed that line, hence you need to patiently wait. Currently my FC is ok but not great but i expect that to happen simply becoz i opted for 2.0NA engine , surely it cannot match Prince 1.6 Turbo or Passat TSI engine lah. But surely you jest, would you consider going back to driving a Proton from your current P408NA? I would consider it a personal tragedy if I had to move from a bigger Passat to a smaller P207 for example. No my friend, my advise to you is always look up and strive towards a bigger goal, there's no point looking down... not unless you're on top of a beautiful chick I'm always curious what owners think about the cars they own and what car they were previously moving up from. I doubt there would be any single one owner that would have the same kind of experience would there? Just like I'm curious to know what sort of FC you are averaging. I do actually have a spreadsheet which I'm compiling that compares various C/D segment makes in terms of FC, maintenance cost and other issues. I'm been fortunate enough to have access to the pre-facelift Corolla Altis, previous gen Camry, the new Ford Focus, and also the New Honda Civic, so it's definitely good info which I can share later once I have enough information to upload freely for everyone to view. So what kind of FC are you averaging right now? Btw, can't help you with the crash test dummies there. Perhaps you can go ebay and search for the toys or head to Miros and see if they give you access There is really no competition here simply becoz you cannot compare an apple with an orange. Also, unlike you, I am not obsessed with FC. Call it personal choice call it whatever you want but I don't do what you do, i don't like what you like, but as far as what is common among owners here, we own a pug 408, and that is the link, so my facts is just as subjective as any, because I thought FC is a function to the driver individual habits, whether like to speed a lot or are as gentle as you should treat a lady, No? Aiyo no free lunch lah bro if you don't help me with providing the dummies, then why should i help you with your FC research? issh! This post has been edited by EnergyAnalyst: Feb 8 2013, 04:03 PM |

Just done 10k km service at Chan Sow Lin/Sg Besi. Paid RM300.70 The service agent issued initially an invoice with RM126 for labour but after pointing out first 10k km comes with complementary labour charges. The SA made a few phone calls, reissue minus labour. Used petronas synthium 1000 15W50 but 4 litre, is that why it is cheaper service for NA compare to turbo that needs 5 litre?
Wanted software upgrade but were told there is none that will solve iPhone pairing issue. The centre service standard has deteriorated due to staff shortage n one thing that irks me most is how young and ill informed the service agent is , that and the still broken coffee machine. QUOTE(lowpro @ Feb 16 2013, 04:08 PM) Hi lowpro Not sure if u have any idea why after Peugeot changed its logo in year 2010, the current batch of 207, 3008, 5008 and 408 still has the old logo at front and rear (old logo means the one with lion sticking its tongue out) and only at the steering and wheels you will find the new current logo (lion with no tongue). Only the new 308 and 508 has new logo used everywhere. Feel like a bit of cheat by Peugeot to dump stock of old logos like that : ( Below is the old and new logo difference Attached image(s) |

QUOTE(lowpro @ Feb 16 2013, 05:20 PM) actually, you're 100% correct. they had excess stock of old lions. eventually, the new lions will find their way to the cars in the showrooms. but with peugeot, the importers usually don't have much of a say in these matters. Thanks for sharing what u know. A bit of cheat is still a bit of cheat n it just kind of show how Peugeot is not serious about its image and brand.it is on the 508 simply because they can't have the old logo on their new flagship model and the new 308fl was introduced after the new logo was launched so they had to develop the new logo for it which is much better than trying to slap an old logo on a newly facelifted model. the older cars have no facelift so they make do with the older logos till the stock run out. but in latin america and the recently facelifted 408 in china, they already use the new logo for the 408. for that, unfortunately, i have no explanation. maybe we will get the facelift when production ramps up for the aussie and nz markets. Take the good, the bad and the ugly all in one package. But ignorance is not bliss neither would denial be. So no one here should be either.
I think IMO all my pug bro and sis who have come to own 408 or other x08 definitely are brave to have made the less than common or popular choice. It is definitely not for the faint hearted I would go as far as saying. But one principle I dare to propose is that we remain objective and fair minded and really takes in all the good, bad and the ugly. Now before you say my pug where got ugly/bad please remember no car is flawless, one will be foolish to believe as such. So I will be open and discuss it here any good or bad or what appear ugly like the consensus the 408 present one of the argubly could have been better rear light design. Newer face lifted version elsewhere in the world brings hope to future buyer, but we are the one living and breathing the current version of 408, so allow me to have this faith---that my pug bro and sis , fan and fren know this as much--- none of us work for Peugeot, none of us really care Deep down if they sell their car well or not. The only thing that we care is about the ownership experience and a brotherhood or sisterhood of different people all tied into this forum with only one thing in common, which is we care and we love our pug. So here is my part of sharing, u are welcome to make your conclusion and judge it any way you like. I will be happy if you care to comment and they too can come in good, bad and ugly! |

QUOTE(yarusaru @ Feb 17 2013, 08:09 PM) 1. Price, if i got money sure will pick 508 over 408. It is strange how this discount is derived by Peugeot. When I was there at the 3S (claimed 4S but more like 4S ready) centre last week 15th Feb. I was told the discount for 3008 is RM5k.... so 8k for 408, 6k for 508? It does not coincides with price level of the models.2. Yes, 6k discount. Being told by SA today last day to get 6k discount for 508T. Still too much for me to spend on a car Overall to me, 508 is a better car, just that i can only afford 408 at the moment..Felt 508 under power, where having no such with 408 driving..i guess the 508 bodyweight does make the difference I think the step up financing makes ownership easier but it only effectively defers higher cost at the later years So really it is a personal choice. For me 8k discount now worths more because the value of money is really depreciating fast judging from the inflation that has gone crazy nowadays and is projected to continue that way This post has been edited by EnergyAnalyst: Feb 18 2013, 11:17 AM |
