QUOTE(off_shore @ Jan 27 2013, 12:42 AM) I checked sammobile, it doesn't listed as one of the Malaysia's firmware. Or is it as what you said, a Thai version? If I flash it, will it be a different method or any difference? I am using a SME set and now using the Thai DMA5. If you look carefully even our DLL7 also is the same with Thai, Phillipines, Vitenam. Singapore and other Asean region...Edit: Alright, it's a Thailand's firmware. Is it safe to flash over a SME set? |

QUOTE(off_shore @ Jan 27 2013, 12:55 AM) Thanks for the replies. I read last few days I think from tot31 that flashing a version before XXDMA5, LL2 will increase the flash counter. How did that happen or any special instructions before flashing to other region firmware? I think that you may have confuse with some of my posts before. Ok I will explain the whole situation.Sigh, I really asked like a noob here regardless hw many hundreds custom roms I flashed before When I first bought my Note 2, I was on stock unrooted for more than a month, maybe almost two months, just to see how well the stock rom was. Then when the Exynos exploit was discovered and Chainfire released his ExynosAbuse app, I decided to root using this method as this the easiest way to do it. My flash counter did not trip and maintain as 0 and the download mode was still flagged as Official but the system status was flagged as Modified. I bought Triangle Away and and run an option set the system status to be Normal again. Then DLL7 was released and I know that I can't get an OTA update so I bought Mobile Odon Pro to flash the new released DLL7 to maintain root. So I flashed and the flash counter was tripped an by using TA I managed to reset the counter, as well as the system status remains Normal. Then our beloved joytest posted an app called Orange Backup which can do a nandroid backup without rebooting to recovery. So I decide to try it knowing it that it would trip the counter but I took the plunge. The OB managed to make all of my nandroid partitions with no problem but it tripped the counter like what I suspected. I was unable to reset the counter by using the latesr TA 2.60 and fortunately joytest had suggested to use the older TA 2.37 to reset the counter and it was a success but the system status remains as Modified. So install TA 2.60 to make my system status to Normal back gain. So just coincidentally the DMA5 was released and I used this opportunity to flash the DMA5 with Mobile Odin Pro to retain root and getting back the system status to Normal. When I flashed the DMA5 the flash counter remains 0 and download mode status remains as Official.... hope that this will help you to understand....what a long story... QUOTE(joytest @ Jan 27 2013, 01:49 AM) This looks like the one with the emmc brickbug. There is an xda forum for this. So I don't think we have enough data to understand whether this 0xf1 allows TA to reset counter despite a new bootloader. it has been so long since I wrote an essay... QUOTE(eternity4av @ Jan 27 2013, 11:43 AM) I eventually found out that the original USB cable charges around 400 - 460 on USB port, but whenever I hooked up with Pisen USB stick, the rate had changed to 1698 for current_now despite both current_avg and current_max is at 600. Apart from that, I also found that USB cable from Yoobao 11200 mAH also charges at 1698 on its 2A port while 1000 on its 1A port, kinda fast compared to standard USB charging. you should always look at current_avg not current_now or current_max |

QUOTE(yyt @ Jan 27 2013, 01:32 PM) normally what is the main reason why you all want to root the phone, re-flash custom OS? can share? I only root but not using any custom roms, the reason is to block ads, running apps that require root. For me the stock rom is already great.maybe if i do that i want to block advertisement, do backup... but so far, i find the samsung stock OS is so good. |

QUOTE(PeeEl @ Jan 27 2013, 03:00 PM) Would appreciate advice here. Samsung has already pulled out the 4.1.2 update because of the battery draining issue. You are not missing anything on this 4.1.2, nothing special actually. It was just a minor update only 0.0.1 increment. Just enjoy your Note 2.My newly acquired SME Note2 is a few days old. Unrooted, unflashed. It is still on 4.1.1. When I tried to update, it informed that it is the latest fw. Could it be that I have not registered the phone yet? TQ. |

QUOTE(PeeEl @ Jan 27 2013, 03:27 PM) Thanks but I was referring to the dual screen mode which I believe is called multi-view available under the 4.1.2 upgrade. Correct me if I am wrong. if you really want 4.1.2 then just go to sammobile.com and register and you can download the Malaysian 4.1.2 firmware and flash it using PC Odin and pls don't come back here saying the battery life sucks after the update... |

QUOTE(kevyeoh @ Jan 27 2013, 10:03 PM) Anyone who installed AVG anti virus here? Any impact to system resource and cause lag? I have been with Android for 4 years now and never have any what you called anti virus install in my phone, one of the reason why I went to Hackintosh from Windows was never to install any anti virus..I know previously got forumers recommend other anti virus software but personally prefer AVG so just asking if theres any serious issue on AVG... thanks! |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Jan 28 2013, 01:09 AM) Main advantage no need any anti virus, no need any utilities to run disk defragmention n best of all it never crash since I started using it 5 years ago. Unbelievably extremely stable. Compared windows 7 is "rubbish" I would say. I use windows only to flash my phones I am running windows only on vmware.... |
