Tarcian here. IMO, UTAR degree is cheaper & u can financed by lower interest rate loan. Overseas top up programme (in UK) normally cost about RM 35,000. The interest rate of that loan is about 9 %.
About which degree is better?? Its the same since neither UTAR nor Overseas University tht link with TARC is FAMOUS !! Try to obtain a first class degree to differentiate u from the 2nd or 3rd class holder. |

I'm now really worried that if I even cant get any good job after I graduate from either UTAR or KTAR then. But I have no choice, I must choose either one of them. I just wanna know which one is better than the other. I got finance problem. If I'm going UTAR, it doesn't mean it'd make my life simpler since there's a new rule stated that whoever got PTPTN loan during the years of diploma must clear the payment first before going to apply PTPTN loan in UTAR then. Maybe people will say, just get loan from other association or foundation that recommended by UTAR, but but but, the thing is, the loan provided by others not enough for me to spend on both tuition fees and living expenses. Only PTPTN provides enough loan. How am I going to payback the loan that I applied before in order to apply in further then? I think perhaps some needy students' hope(Going to UTAR)will be ruined because of this new rule.
In case like that, there's no different between gettng into UTAR or KTAR because as i stated justnow, it's not easy to get PTPTN loan anymore(Except those who still can afford to payback the loan before). The stereotype could be changed that UTAR is not a choice for further studies for those needy students anymore. Perhaps I'm not right at all, but I just stand in the view of unlucky case. |

QUOTE(Sim (2) @ Mar 24 2006, 02:13 PM) It's because some said that UTAR is easier to graduate since there's 60% coursework marks will be given while KTAR advance diploma just as the same with diploma level, 20-30% only coursework marks. I also got heard before that most of the students going over UTAR all because of it's easier to graduate and got finance loan provided. Is that really true? Many people wonder all courses provided by UTAR is under approval of LAN or not. What's actually LAN? And National Accreditation Board? Are both the same? Why I heard people said that of course all courses provided in colleges and universities in our country is under approval of LAN, just have to see whether it got accreditate from societies or companies or not. ?? What's this mean?? Erm.. I heard a lot these kind of things. Hopefully there got someone that can really gimme some precious opinions and guidance. |

I knew that going for Top-Up programme isn't same with taking BS Degree Program since Top-Up Programme can get Honours Degree. Anyway, I think just taking BS Degree Program also isn't too bad, am I right?About which degree is better?? Its the same since neither UTAR nor Overseas University tht link with TARC is FAMOUS !! Just because TARC is cheap DOES NOT MEAN no quality.
There are (not foundation year) students from a "prestigious"/"famous" govt operated local U still asking "What is the difference between mild steel and cast iron" on a factory visit! So that's why my dad's previous company preferred to hire TARC graduates. This post has been edited by ceo684: Mar 24 2006, 05:03 PM |

QUOTE(jondevour @ Mar 24 2006, 09:27 PM) mind to explain why would you choose SHU?I believe UTAR has its standards to maintain, it has the necessary resources and funding since it is the pride of MCA. I am sure MCA will give the best to UTAR. SHU on the other hand, is just one of the many British universities which are struggling to secure funds from the government besides trying to stay afloat in all areas. It is only wise to go to the UK if you can get into one of the top 20 or 25 universities in the UK, other than that don't bother going. |

The topic I created is to discuss about the UTAR and KTAR only. Not included overseas world ranking universities. Of course overseas universities better than ours. But I have no choice, I must choose one of this. I don't have much time to apply for other universities.
