"If price of property reaches RM5,000 psf, would you stay in a 400 sqft house/apartment?"
=> The answer is still NO (57%) more than Yes (43%) ..

exactly, looking at even other options like why not converting some prewar buildings into apartments....in KL many are converted into backpack hostel instead e.g.

http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=...6583&sec=nation

But why not small shoe size apartments (ok may be not must be in city centre) BUT OTHER SUBURB PREWAR BUILDINGS too?

I can see how this would be a great idea if a person was still young and single. But how much do they intend to sell it at? I can't picture having to pay more than 100k for one of these 110sq.ft homes. Even asking for 70k is crazy.

What are the investment potential for these homes?
*
Masian market has yet to have such microhomes, so it 'll be any one guess how good they will sell, but if what is happening elsewhere in the world is of any reference, Singapore, Japan, Korea, europe and USA, they are selling like hot cakes, who buy them? single, young couples, retirees.

Rental is great too in those countries, and they don't go cheap

Another reason for its poupularity is things we talked about for cars, the lower CO2 emission/carbon foot print.

Consumers like them because they're less costly and require minimal care and upkeep. Current renters who are anxious to become homeowners are particularly good prospects for these mini-homes.

Home builders like them because they help them shed high construction costs and offer a more affordable home to cash-strapped buyers

it is a trend now live with less and less things.

I visited sweden recently. their govt promote people to rent rather buy this and that. buy less ->more eco friendly, less waste and less materialistic wo.

Why we need so many shoe when we only have 2 legs / why need so many cloths/ so huge fridge etc/ why buy grass cutter when everyone should rent etc etc.

My wife  & me think it is kind of cool and actually very thougful.

i dont mind to live in a Micro home in Venice or Paris which are such a beauty, romantic and developed places.

But why i wanna live in one in malaysia when land still have amble around the city? Why forest reserve? why malay reserve? why state reserve? why?

Why cant Government exercising re-habitation like Hong Kong and SG? why old torn flat within the big city of KL?

No Proper Planning and diligent execution (corruption free), perhaps.

My oversea friends come KL for short business trip, why SOHO since google maps still indicating many green land and old building?
*
how about doing it so that those green land/ forest reserve can remain intact as long as it can?

It is one way to think there is still aplenty, why bother or we can think this way, today is the day I start bother/care, so what is important remain aplenty.

Thats why re-habitation is important. Old building must go to replace with a modern and convenient building. But when comes to compensation part, most of the time is about "SONGLAP". This is what the new Government should look into. i dont see Zero Corruption in BN manifesto, do u?
*
the root of all problem is constantly people's day to day choices: We are busy developing spatial near green/panaromic view and not knowing such demand create so much environmental issue. I dare the developer to look at small scale rebuilding old structure (recycle) and until those are exhausted, and then if we need to build, build small, there is an acceptance level i think we can endure if we put our pride/ego as the least of our concern.

Forget about govt for a change, as an individual, why not we start to look at what we must have, and learn to live with that instead of the biggest, loudest all the time,

How about forget about ego extension/pride and practise minimalist living?
