QUOTE(azrash @ Jan 19 2013, 04:40 PM) you might be able to solve it with a kernel. there are kernels from franco, faux, motley, intersectraven to a name a few. I would recommend you read the OP of each kernel first, and use the stable version of the kernel, and the appropriate version for your setup, which is AOSP. do remember to flash the stock reset kernel zip file from either motley's or faux's page if you are changing from a custom kernel to another, or if you want to just restore the stock kernel. Stock kernel should not give such wifi issues Changing kernel is not a good solution though it might help If recur frequently do not dismiss wifi chip is problematic.

QUOTE(azrash @ Jan 19 2013, 05:00 PM) hm benny, this thread said that there is no efs partition for nexus 4, how did you backup yours? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2003518another possible way, is to reflash the stock images (you can stick to 4.2 images if you don't want the battery drain bug in 4.2.1) in the xda thread (the great battery life impression) a few folks like undercover, and jeff mentioned that re flashing the stock images improved their battery life. they said something about incomplete firmware installed in the device during the manufacturing. kernel is different than firmware. so that might help too. they thought it was a placebo effect but they did noticed an improvement. they recommended using efrant's manual way, because you'll have full control of the process. if that still fail, then request a replacement unit, might be a faulty wifi chip after all. link to xda thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1992627I am still looking how to backup EFS. Is important. Easily done using toolkit in previous Nexus

QUOTE(plm38 @ Jan 19 2013, 04:51 PM) according to the response here http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=40065 ..it seems that version 4.2 and above are having such problem..is it because of firmware issue on 4.2? If firmware will affect all users, right? Why don't you try reflash stock image to assess better

QUOTE(zellleonhart @ Jan 19 2013, 09:06 PM) Anyone tried the kernel above? I am using franco r34 + pana android ROM but battery life seems bad... 1hr 10minutes of msm_hsic_host of wakelocks, killing my battery like water. BTW, if flash from franco kernel to the kernel above, need to flash back to stock kernel first? And my data/apps will it be gone? Thanks Flashing kernel will not wipe any data Just flash it on top present kernel. No need to flash back stock kernel first

QUOTE(zellleonhart @ Jan 19 2013, 09:22 PM) I just read further, the author said franco kernel used non-stock ramdisk and will cause bootloops if flash directly... I'll try flash to stock kernel first then. NO it will not. But if you want to play safe , go ahead and flash stock kernel I have been experimenting with flashing kernels and never have problems flashing directly

QUOTE(sophan @ Jan 19 2013, 10:02 PM) Very satisfied with aokp, just enough customization + stable + smooth. Look at my Nav bar 6 buttons all together. now i don't have to use power button to lock screen. and can use volume rocker to wake phone. Just what i need in a ROM. You can even reduce the navibar height further to get a bigger screen estate from default 48dp down to 6 levels to 24 dp I change mine to 36dp

QUOTE(azrash @ Jan 20 2013, 03:59 PM) open the motley link at my signature and search for reset. this reset kernel zip file is used if you are using stock ROM with a custom kernel, and you want to restore back the stock kernel. I didn't even bother to flash the reset zip moving from Franco to motley

QUOTE(azrash @ Jan 20 2013, 04:37 PM) TBH, N4 is the first device that i see that have to use all this reset kernel thing. from what i read this is because of the different ramdisk used by franco i like to play safe and just follow the steps given by the kernel devs I have been using Franco since nexus days n note2 never bother about this Developer always cautious about bad comments n if follow strictly their recommendations make their troubleshooting easier

QUOTE(Aquariusdenz @ Jan 22 2013, 01:17 PM) Guys is this phone worth getting? Been using samsung smartphone for 2 years dy.. I checked out the digi SC today they show me the plan with rm200 rebate.. I only need to pay rm1299 upon registration.. Monthly rm68 with 5gb quota.. So is it worth getting? Thinking of getting new phone fore CNY.. Haha.. For its price ( even at RM 1699) , is a no brainer. You can never get such a high specs phone with latest Android OS at this price. Is like buying a Honda Accord for price of a Civic This post has been edited by benny888: Jan 22 2013, 01:25 PM

QUOTE(josh. @ Jan 22 2013, 07:22 PM) One question: If i flash franco kernal and stick to stock rom (4.2), can I upgrade my OS to 4.2.1 without flashing my kernal back to stock? Can I freely upgrade my OS to 4.2.2 in the future? Upgrade through OTA you must be on stock kernel You can easily flash 4.2.1 or 4.2.2 stock google image yourself using the toolkit - your Franco kernel will be overwritten with stock kernel This post has been edited by benny888: Jan 22 2013, 07:31 PM
