If you're a designer, just pick up a pencil and train yourself.
Its important as it raises your value as a designer. If given a choice, who'd rather take a designer that 'can't draw' if theres one that 'can draw' around?
But drawing is relative, honestly I don't find a big a difference in drawing and sketching.
At the end of the day, as a designer, its YOUR way of visually showing your client what he/she needs. Trust me when I say, verbal discussions on a project is the most f***tarded way to do things. Your margin of error is huge when you don't have a sketch to fall back on.
So, as for me,.. as a designer. Yes, it is important.
