The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was one of our favorite games at this year’s E3, and it’s currently set to release for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 3 in 2014. When it does release, the PC gamers who buy it will enjoy all of its post-release content for free.

The news comes from Rock, Paper, Shotgun in an interview with CD Projekt RED’s Marcin Iwinski. When asked about future content for the upcoming title, here’s what Iwinski said:

“It’s too early to talk specifics, but definitely all the DLCs and updates will be free…Of course, we’ll see what the platform holders will allow – what we can do for free [on next-gen consoles]. I mean, there are different business models on consoles. From our standpoint, we’ll definitely do everything we can to deliver the same experience across all platforms.”

On PC? DLC will be free for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, no bones about it. On the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One? Iwinski suggests that, as much as CDP wants to deliver the same content for free, it’s up to the console makers.

On a related and darkly hilarious note, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will likely be unbelievably famous in its home nation of Poland. They’re nuts for the whole Witcher lore, obviously. The Xbox One will not work in Poland upon release, yet Microsoft touts this as one of the console’s bigger games. Crazy.

Well honestly there wasn't much free DLCs anyway. Just kind of marketing gimmick if you asked me.

Just when Xbox1 or PS4 outsells PC Witcher 3.. lol.. you can forget about No DRM and stuff tongue.gif

There are about 15 DLCs in TW2. You probably don't realise it because they're free.

And DRM is always the publisher's decision. Hardly the devs.

And a lot of the Witcher 2's DLCs adds some small addition, like the hair cut one or a small story arc. How are they going to charge for that?

Hopefully CDPR will remain DRM free and no DLCs even after the taint from consoles (mainly microsoft)

How? Just charge la. 0.99, 1.99, 3.99USD etc. Just like what Beth did in Oblivion. New horse armor! lol that was my first experience ever having to deal with DLCs, it's a new concept to me and I hated it already. Top it off with the console-ish port feel of Oblivion with their silly DLCs, I've stopped getting their games.

You mean The Witcher 3? Well it's not out yet so we can't know for sure. But it'll have an open world, like Skyrim. I hope the similarities end there laugh.gif

The first 2 games are nothing like Skyrim though.

No in Witcher 2, highly doubt it in Witcher 3, as the steel and silver swords are the trademark weapons of a witcher.

The Witchers are swordsmen first and foremost and known to carry 2 swords around, one for humans and another for monsters. Asking a Witcher to be an archer is like asking Legolas to be an axeman laugh.gif

the W2 combat gives you the feel that you are not too powerful and some skills are still needed, which i love that.
