i think both of you misunderstand me. autolock is the idle time set before the phone screen off and locks.
if coming from iphone, u get that via cydia, sbsettings

http://www.appleiphoneschool.com/2009/01/2...ock-sbsettings/

the ones both of you mentioning is locking the phone without using the physical button on the note

Get Nova or Apex launcher and set a shortcut to the specific UI command. No need root.

If it was for screenshots, your friend is somewhat deficient in vocabulary.

FWIW, how do you say screenshot in Mandarin, or Malay? Someone told me the mandarin phrase but I just can't remember.

Youtubers have reported it working with external HDDs, you just need to have a separate power input. Should work with the same setup.

Yes AndroidNZ was one of the sites that I went for information on Note1 way back in 2011. After reading his review, I promptly went and got it hahaha.

The rest, as they say, is history....

Anyone successfully connect ethernet usb to their Note 2? I tried to insmod asix.ko but i got this output
"inmod: init_module 'asix.ko' failed (Exec format error)"

I compile the driver in Linux Mint 14, then transfer the whole folder into Note 2
Dmesg seems detecting the Ethernet USB, but no driver attached to it.
Can anyone give clue to this newbie? Thanks
*
In that case sir, you are above my skills in this area. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

I would suspect though that you might need some entry in etc\conf ? or dev\eth0 ? Or in the case of android, some libxx.so in the correct folders?

What about compiling with ARM flags set?

QUOTE(civic98 @ Jan 15 2013, 10:04 AM)
It's really funny to see the responses to my rant here, just because I clarified first I am a Apple user, and of which I intentionally did so. Well I've fought Apple fanboys, been labelled as one, defended as one and blasted as one, no harm done, it's fine.
But the reaction here, if anything, it's more than fanboyism. Apart from fruitie and cyberic (* and kevyeoh, andrewtho) others just blasted without even bothering the fact that I am in fact a Note 2 user, and treated a fellow user with complaints like an enemy of the "Samsung state", just because I'm a Apple user.
For those who criticized my complaints of the Note 2,I can't help it but label some of you hypocrites. I've screened through couple of pages and it seems I'm not the only one who complained certain issues. But of course because I'm a Apple user, you guys chose to put on the defensive hat and blasted almost immediately.
Well it's sad this is the behavior of the Note 2/Android community here, it's just embarrassing. While I expect most of you to say the same about the Apple community, well it is true as well, and you guys here are no different.
*
QUOTE(antt00 @ Jan 15 2013, 10:33 AM)
Well the issue here is that you stated problems that most of us don't have. Instead of looking for the cause and solving it you just blame it on android and the phone. From my experience using Android for the past few years with different phones most issues are related to
1) hardware defect which you should get the manufacturer to replace
2) user problem.  new users especially can mess up their phone when they try to do this and that without enough knowledge. They should ask for help and learn instead of blaming it on something new to them.
*
QUOTE(Isabell @ Jan 15 2013, 10:36 AM)
sorry to say that due to the fact of you complaining about issues that don't exist, we can't help but think that you are trying to start a flame war.

unless you have gotten yourself a clone Note 2 and that is what we have been talking about

Best way to deal with trolls is to ignore them. Some people have a silly craving for attention.

Flat slab with a button in the middle? I do like flat regular shapes, and have no real gripe about designs on a rectangular slab of most phones. However, as I said before, whatever the other guys are doing, it's an iteration of faster and bigger (maybe cheaper). The key differentiator is the active digitizer and the apps using it. Without this, Samsung is also playing the same game like the Sn releases yearly.

http://www.androidauthority.com/huawei-asc...-note-2-146199/

............
At the moment, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is the phablet, with Samsung really a couple of years ahead of everyone else in the segment when it comes to software tweaks and unique S-Pen enabled apps. It is not a perfect device, but at the moment only Samsung can manufacture a device that is actually better than the Galaxy Note 2.
.........
If all you want is a gargantuan display, the <insert any mfg name device> is not a bad choice, but if you really want the best tablet around, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is it.

Mr. I have all the oses phone also you don't see I rant. I have iphone 5, note 2 and lumia 800, 900 and 920

For me I adept to the phone limitations every phone have their pros and cons.

Iphone in the other hand the phone been telling the user what to do since day 1 . Iphone will say sir u only have two choice blue tooth the file or email accept it or leave it. So the user get so used to this habit its imprinted  in their head.

If those manage to come out of this brainwash see the difference and have a better adepting skill for those that cant they end up worshiping it and obey it like its their master.

No offense to anyone this just my perspective in thing learn from that ranting king
*
Sifu, good rant.

[PEDANT]
adapt = to change per situation
adept = being good at something.
[/PEDANT]

You sir are VERY adept at photography, and with so many phones, you have good adaptation skills as well. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Anyway, precisely for the reasons you listed is why I will never get a crapple device. I bought my own device, I will do as I f'ing please with it.

Reality Distortion Field aka Brainwash

Yes, I too did not consider Samsung until Nokia shot themselves and the Note1 came. Best of the convergence devices ever (until the current Note2, and then hope Note3 can carry it on).

Info for all about the new bootloader and kernel

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...&postcount=1325

I asked Dr Ketan yesterday and this is his reply:

What i believe is, exynose exploit is fixed with bootloader, after flashing new bootloader exynose abuse should not work. (it still works if your device is rooted)
while kernel patching was done (i heard on S3) for sudden death issue.

And his response to another post:
You mean for flash counter?
Of course it will check, even more smartly then older. More Difficult to set system status 'official' with new bootloader.

therefore what it means is that, don't get DLL7?

someone speak in plain english plox!  thumbup.gif

inb4 joytest thinks i'm dumb and do not understand plain english
*
No, for the vast majority of people, getting the DLL7 will automatically give you a new bootloader. The bootloader is the part that begins when you switch on your phone, even BEFORE recovery.

In our flashoholism cases, the new bootloader may be bad for us coz it's harder for Triangle Away to defeat and switch status.

But since DLL7 comes with the new kernel that also patches SDS, it's still generally a good thing overall.

However, I'm unsure why would the root access patch be fixed via a bootloader while the SDS gets fixed in the kernel. It should be the other way around IMHO.

is that means rom flashing ppl should get AP for better support?

AP sets you mean? I don't think so, coz the bootloader should be the same for any N7100. They will only change the bootloader for the US telco variants.

Or via the Auto Update smile.gif - so all unrooted stock users who upgraded ...are ... a bit more screwed over than we are ??? hehe

In which case please run an MD5 check on your downloads before proceeding. Compare with the MD5 on the download site.

Search google for MD5 hash checkers. A good one used to be Hashtab 4.0 and lower. The current 5.0 has some adware that you cannot avoid.

UPDATE: Hashtab v5.0 is fine now, seems they removed some registration that was needed for download.

BTW how do you make the font to show strikeout?
