hi, just got my white lumia 920 from digi yesterday. when my phone started, it manages to connect to 3g network, however, after i went to some area with no signal, and return to a place that has signal originally, the phone failed to connect back to 3g. i am using digi. anyone experiencing same problem?

hmmm... problem is, it manages to connect back everytime i restart my phone.

same problem also happens when i deliberately eject my sim card, and then reinsert back while my phone is switched on. it just fails to connect to any signal/data, until i restart my phone.

so was thinking, is this a defect? or is this something normal that needs to be patched.

That's the thing. WP8 backup system SUCKS!!!, sevennet has done a field test and review of the backup and it's not pretty. MS needs to really implement a full backup system like the iPhone (where you can do a full backup -- game saves, app data etc etc) to the computer. Skydrive only backs up certain things.

I havent updated to portico yet. I heard even if u updated the usual way (phone updates section in Settings and download the update via wifi) instead of flashing the firmware obtained from Navifirm, you have to reinstall all the apps?
If it's true then i damn headache liao, the Xbox games ahh... dunno want download till when, all big size... =.=;
Not to mention some of my apps are purchased from m'sia region, some fro s'pore region, have to switch around while reinstalling them... >.<;

Sh!t, i better wait for OTA update. So, update via OTA apps will still be around right? I guess of course it will be. I dont want to lose my Sonic CD that i got for free.

So best to wait for the portico update next month? I downloaded the firmware... but thinking twice on flashing it...

Your opinion? I also heard some people mention that maxis ones with portico. How to tell the diff?

If you are correct about the firmware as mentioned above.. then yes, mine is updated. However, i still had the same problems like most other users on this forum. self-restart and poor battery life is the most common. Just to mention that the self-restart issue seems to have stopped for a week now. So far so good, but I think the battery life issue needs to be addressed. I don't play games at all.

youre spot on. this morning, i installed calculator3 since its free for a while; its a WP7 app but said to be updated for WP8. later in the evening, i got my first ever random reboot since buying my phone and after that, i quickly removed the app. until now using the phone with no problems at all.

Okay, i think we now can conclude that the random reboots issue is caused by WP7 apps, not because of portico or not.   

Forget about razr maxx in terms of battery life, even note 2 also lose to it.

I think windows phone still can do some optimization on it. My battery life is average, but still can last for 1 day without issue.

there are news about microsofts next project Blue. many believe its going to integrate W8, W8 RT and WP8 altogether. 

Its impossible getting 1-2 days of usage unless you do not ever do anything on your phone.

I had 3 different separate Lumia 920s and I can attest to it that they do not last so long.

I uninstalled everything and just put on Whatsapp and it drains the battery like crazy. Microsoft's own Skype drains the battery like crazy on its own as well. Same goes to WeChat or any social application.

Social Applications -

I tested it again:
- Continuous usage of Whatsapp alone lasts me < 3 hours
- Continuous usage of WeChat alone lasts me < 2 hours
- Continuous usage of Skype alone lasts me < 3 hours

The stupid thing is that all these are supposed to be normal applications for a Smartphone yet the phone, well, can't use them well.

Playing Guns 4 Hire, Dredd vs Zombies or even Robotek and your drains like water. This is without any applications active.

I don't use the usb charger as it will charge very slowly. I use the normal AC powered charger.
