why everyone talked about install openWRT in TL-MR3420? what is it for? openWRT?  sweat.gif

i plan to use this TL-MR3420 with my E398..do i need to install openWRT also?

and how to identify the modem is v1 or v2?
*
OpenWRT just has more advanced functions than the stock firmware thumbup.gif It's up to your personal preference. icon_rolleyes.gif

I personally use the DNSMasq function in OpenWRT to access Hulu laugh.gif

I'm also now trying to use the Multiwan feature to load balance my Streamyx + USB 3G Internet...still haven't figured out how to use it sweat.gif

i have a weird idea abt it.. do u guys know how usb speed is rated at 1.5Mbps, 12Mbps, 480Mbps, and 5Gbps.
what if something is amiss with our usb driver on the router or our modem signalling itself as a usb 1.1 device, the speed would be limited to 12Mbps.. minus with bus overhead, it could well return 10~11Mbps..

how does my theory sound?
*
Now that you've mentioned it, this may be plausible hmm.gif

But with my e353, I did 1.5 MBps briefly last night (a few short seconds...maybe Networx delay?) hmm.gif

chuahcs79, did you ever get > 12 Mbps with MR3420 Stock or OpenWRT?

evit, Paste the following code @ System > Scheduled Tasks
CODE
* 12 * * * reboot

The above code will reboot router everyday at 12pm.

If you want to set a more specific time, can use

Crontab Code Generator icon_rolleyes.gif

then meaning our usb device is detect 1-1 = 1.1 all along these time ?  doh.gif
*
The 1-1 should just be the bus id.

If cat /sys/bus/usb/devices/1-1/version shows 2.00, then the device connected at 1-1 is a 2.0 device.

Maybe khairilyazit can reconfirm? notworthy.gif

I've been following the last couple of pages silently and I'm very excited with the new firmware. Special thanks to DairymanCanada & Wahroonga Farm smile.gif

Upgraded from 20022013 to 26022013 without a hitch.

I'm using an e353 modem and it works just fine connecting to the internet with the router (MR3420 V1).
Attached Image

...but I couldn't get it to work with ModemGUI. When I click "Connect" the window sometimes goes to "Not Responding" but still connects.

OpenWRT System Log:
CODE
Feb 27 06:33:46 OpenWrt authpriv.info dropbear[6377]: Child connection from 192.168.1.100:54430
Feb 27 06:33:47 OpenWrt authpriv.notice dropbear[6377]: Password auth succeeded for 'root' from 192.168.1.100:54430

ModemGUI seems to connect with the router but I waited for 10 seconds (and longer) but all the info is 'Unknown':
Attached Image
Clicked on 'Disconnect', waited for a while, all the buttons remains disabled (including the Exit button). So I had to quit via the X button.

OpenWRT System Log:
CODE
Feb 27 06:41:15 OpenWrt authpriv.info dropbear[6377]: Exit (root): Error reading: Connection reset by peer

Enabled "Debug Logging" but after exiting (X) Log.txt only shows:
CODE
---------------------------------- Application Starting ----------------------------------
Trying list of devices
Modem manufacturer is Unknown

From memory the E353 uses Port 1, so try selecting the 'Modem Command port'; rather than auto, which uses Port 2.
*
I did try Port 1 previously but it said "Modem Not Found". Nonetheless, tried using Port 1 again, and it works! thumbup.gif notworthy.gif

edit: Tried Automatic again, same thing, no info. Had to force exit (x). Then tried Port 1, error "Modem Not Found". Tried Port 1 again, then it works. hmm.gif

Great features on the latest Huntsman (2013-04-19)..especially the Network Status feature smile.gif I did notice some issues though;
- Modem Communication Port for Network Status not saved after reboot.
- Maximum QOS unavailable for e353

AttitudeAdjustment Final also works fine smile.gif
