ARGHHHHH MAN I AM SO FED UP!!!

okay guys sorry for the impending whining but i really need to talk about this.. fishing experience of mine .. so far...

I have been fishing for like couple of months now. my luck hasn't been the best, earlier on back at my hometown i used to be able to hook a few fishes every now and then, small ones, big ones.

when i get to KL, sh*t started to happen, no matter what pond or sungai or lake or tasik i go to i always 90% of the time come back empty handed. i used worms, bomb or whatever shyt fish powder available in the tackle stores but still i get nothing.

tried all sort of diff ways and mixing diff bait and still nothing. what makes matters worst is that at the same place that i am fishing people are reeling in like nobody's business!!!!!! FKKKK, plus they love using those EFFING LOUD NOISE REELS that QUACKS so loud the whole world knows he has got a bite. nearly wanted to go over and kick him over the pond.

i think i need some guide on what bait to use, every bag of powder with those spcial codes on it 929, 636, 286, 266 and all that shyt means almost nothing to me, coz no matter what i use nothing works....

-----------------------
Places I Been To
-----------------------

1) Taman Danau Desa Lake (Reserve Lake, No Entry)
this place has been busted open and everyone is fishing there, it is beside Dragon Hut and Desa Waterpark. this lake is used for overflow and drainage from other parts of the area. water is clean in the middle while a little dirty and slimy on right and left sides.

Toman, Black Tilapia, Tam Shui Sek Pan (Tilapia with black and white-green stripes), tiger barbs, marbled goby, crawdads, clams, water snails, Wong Choi San (orange tilapia) and even a Koi was spotted there and also .. damned Bandarayas... chock full of them. nobody seems to be able to get anything there. last i saw was a malay uncle who caught a 5kg toman with fake katak.

2) Paradigm Mall (right side), right behind Shell
not sure what is the name of this pay pond. RM10 for unlimited amount of time, catch and release. can only bring back black tilapia.

Pacu, Black, Red and Striped Tilapia, toman, rohu, patin can be found there. fishes here seems to love pellets more than anything else. tried using 929 and bomb 236 if not mistaken (red colour, packet has eagle head on it) but nothing bites. a annoying middle aged dude fishes there everyday and gets fish every 15minutes without fail, apparently using pellets. those who used pellets seems to be able to get while others can fish for nothing.

3) OUG Pay pond
Rohu, Tilapia, Catfish can be found here. seems to be extremely picky with baits too, mixed pandan with bomb, cricket, bread with strawberry but after 3 visits and still nothing. and as always there will be one annoying uncle with tat screeching reel that keeps reeling in fishes.

4) Sungai Batu
Huge river/lake, polluted as F**K. i rest my case.

5) Semenyih (Beside Fish Village)
Owner feeds both 2 ponds with boiled chicken guts. 2 big pots of withcraft looking ooze, whole pond stinks of spoilt-cooked chicken. Keli and patin found there. caught fish cannot be eaten as they stink of the food they feed on - chicken crap.

the list goes on... there's 2-3 more places i've been to but point is i just cant seem to get anything at all.. i really hope some of the experts here could give some insights and help me out a little here ... so much has been spent on bait, accessories and stuff sad.gif ...

Sad thing is that its been 5 trips in a row i am getting nothing. Its really depressing, so much spent and i get nothing. Man the feeling of despair. Was fishing just now and a guy beside me just came for five minutes using tilapia pellets RM5 per bag and caught one. Seriously? And i am using those so called specialized pellets, easy to hook, big sized, smells great and not even a nibble. SOMEONE SHOOT ME PLEASE

Revealed: Fish DO have a good memory and can even be sneaky - Dailymail.co.uk
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/art...ite-sneaky.html

hmm never took this seriously after all these time fishing. i guess people do really mean it when they say fish learns and gets smarter over time. i suppose that is why i am not getting any fish at all from the catch and release pond at Paradigm mall. Below are some quotes from the article.

'And carp that have been caught by fishers avoid hooks for at least a year. That fish have only a three second memory is just rubbish.'

'Some behavioural traits that we think are very human, such as deception, fish have as well,' he said.

'Fish can recognise other individuals and modify their own behaviour after observing interactions between other individuals.

Dr Warburton added: 'But what's fascinating is that they co-operate more with clients when they are being observed by other potential clients.
'This improves their 'image' and their chances of attracting clients.

i guess i need to hide my line, swivel and even my sinker. since i am using baitcasting i guess i won't need them, just put on a heavier bait and try. any thoughts on this people?

what line are you using? brand? model? lbs?

any leader? fc? nylon? brand? model? lbs?
*
the line i am using is some cheap braided line brand RM20+ from Kepong Tackle. 150m
the lbs is 20. i don't use nylon leader line, usually i use my 30lbs braided as my leader.

regardless what you fish, always a good practice is to have a Fluorocarbon Shock leader / Nylon Shock leader in front before you connect your snap to your bait.

FC will make the end part of your bait looks "line-less", similar to Nylon. according to your article that you posted above, you will have to fool the fish by not letting the fish seeing your last part of the line. FC is good, Nylon is as good, braided will definitely show out the line and spool fishes. not forgetting a black color hook / silver color hook / gold color hook makes whole lot different in making the fish bite.

bottom feeders that tend to suck baits up from the ground will appreciate if you use something soft like braided as leader. FC and Nylon proved to be stiff. by the time they suck up your chicken liver they would've spit out the bait leaving you no chance to set your hook >D

i personally won't buy rm20 lines unless i know that :
1) the place where i'm going to have fishes that have not seen lines before.
2) the place where i'm going to fish is prone to lose line easily
3) use the rm20 for things like line backing / or to make leaders for specific fishes.

who knows you might develop a theory of yours when you go fishing, that's the fun part of it aight?
*
hmm thanks a lot for this info. ive seen those flurocarbon shock leader lines in stores, they are so expensive!! actually i sort of tested this 'fish-line' theory before. i was feeding minnows corn bits back at taman danau desa lake, when i gave them the corn bits like feeding koi fishes, they gulped them in without second thought. then, i used a line and a hook, placed the corn in the small hook and placed it right infront of them, what happened was that all the fish ignored it and moved away...

Guys, anyone here has some special bait for carp? I have tried using sweet corn as recommended online but got barely a nibble.

Use dedak also not much response. Must be something wrong with my technique, just can't seem to get fish hooked...

Anyone can share some insights? Tq

there are some anglers manage to land some big PBs. But yo have to be quick on your feet and bike, heard the guards will come chase on bike. It is trespassing private property.

monash lake also fishing prohibited  , but haven hear story about angle getting caught .....
PB = peacock bass
by the fence/drain near the sungai besi toll

watch your step ......
*
1st u gotta wait for the fish to bite, this is the time where we are most vulnerable
2nd, when the fish strikes and we are reeling it in (HERE COMES HE GUARD)

when we waiting and spots guard F1-ing towards you, cut line or reel the line back in? lol
so we cut line lari? damn .. either way damn sakit hati ...

but personally i think places like this deserves to be protected, coz there aren't many places that has such a habitat. clean, good size, and healthy amount of species...

BTW, you took the 17kg KELI HOME? wad u used as bait? intestines? casted straight into the middle? (as far as u could)

Pay Ponds VS Wild Ponds (KL/Selangor)

this is probably a newbie question, been fishing for a couple of months but i strongly believe i am still a newbie biggrin.gif

Pay Ponds
so far my experience with pay ponds is .... disappointing, rarely get anything at all and never seem to be able to figure out whats the problem...
tried different baits, different advice and experimented with my own ways and 'theories' and still get nothing ... i believed I've donated about RM500
in total cumulatively in different pay ponds....

Wild Ponds
had pretty much bad luck with wild ponds too, only catch are small fishes, not even bigger than the palm. wild ponds and rivers in KL/Selangor are
usually polluted and over-fished...

i have some questions...
1) Do you all sifu's have any special technique or knowledge when it comes to fishing at pay ponds?
2) Can someone tell me something, or give any advice as to what to do when it comes to pay ponds?
3) Are there even wild ponds that are fish-able?
4) Any places to recommend? biggrin.gif

Regards,
Despo Newbie
