BTW, anyone keen to have a customed rod for yourself??
I intend to make a few in a series and if anyone interested, can prebook first. No prototype yet, which i'm going to do so. Estimated cost would be around RM300+- 1. Fuji ECS reel seat 2. Split handle grip design 3. Affordable rod blank 4. SiC guides 5. Your name on it Any comments? Was thinking of spiral wrap guides with micro guides. Bro Acheong,
Taka blanks quite ex ler. When using ex blanks, we also intend to bring in ex guides and such to pair...total damage would be higher.. The blank that i recently acquired is Xzoga Takadum -G Taka-66 You wanna combo the BC and spinning in one rod...? Can be done My main objective here is to complete a customed rod with owner's name thus the specialty. Of course, the blank must be ok-ok type ler. If it's a heavy or jigging rod, then more things to consider - but if it's 8-~17lb rod, it's more to the application and balancing of the rod. So-so blanks is sufficient |

Bro Acheong,
I could split handle for you if you want No need to strip the whole handle, reel seat and guides(guides in the event of 1pc rod) Just the split handle is easy task Why not take a snap shot of the current single handle(preferably with a measuring tape next to it, so that we could see the length of the single handle), then show us your preferred split handle design. I'll figure something out for you... If it's not too difficult, it's just 2~3hrs job Costing is 1 strip of EVA approx RM30+ RM11 3tonnes Epoxy RM2 sandpaper approx 300 or 400 grit. Walla.... kawtim |

For the series of rod, i was thinking to make 5~8pcs at one go. That should be able to minimise the cost for own customed fishing rod.
Anyone game? 1. Michael 2. Viox 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. |

Bro Acheong, Rod balancing is very important to eliminate angler fatigue, or at least it can be minimised if not eliminated. FYI, a rod balancing is usually at the reel seat where the locking screw is. Try this: put any reel to your preference and lock it generously. Then place your finger on the locking nut or near to the T-joint of the spinning reel. See if your rod balance to forward or backward. A good rod customisation can place the rod straight to it's personal application. Eg: Light jigging rod PE1.8 matching with Shimano 5000 series. The rod should be balanced. Addon: BTW, we still can weight balance back your rod when we custom it to split handle design This post has been edited by rorytate: Feb 20 2013, 12:51 PM |

QUOTE(acheong7 @ Feb 20 2013, 10:34 PM) yessir, agreed and understood Bro Acheong, rod balances about 6" from estimated position of reel stem without reel balances about 3 fingers from reel stem with 2000-2500 series reel balances about 2.5 fingers from reel stem with 4000 series reel last line is most comforting 6inch from estimated position of reel stem as in forward to the rod guides or backward towards handle? Bring the rod to me, i'll kawtim for you.. |

QUOTE(SneakyLeaky @ Mar 1 2013, 07:47 PM) hey guys! newbie here, if it is possible i would like to have advice and suggestions by you guys here. ive been going to a dam near my place Nice place you got there Sneaky Leaky.![]() however after many many tries, me and my friends could not get anything at all. not even a nibble! i am really annoyed and wondering how on earth can a damn so big can have no fish in it!! probably we are casting at the wrong places, or maybe we should fish there at night since fish will look for food at night. the bait we use are nightcrawlers (fat earthworms). the damn is very deep as you would expect. Details about the Dam - Very Deep - Has grasses and weeds along the banks. - Has birds flying around and picking up small fishes on the surface - occasionally has fishes splashing water on the surface - water is dark slightly murky black any suggestions would be great! thanks! If not mistaken, it's a direct river flow into it. Not a very big damn tho, approximately 700~800m line of sight. Dont mind to make a trip there. possibility of toman very little, perhaps you may want to target sebarau or baung. |

Bro Acheong and fellow Anglers,
Below is the design which i could think of and it's one of it's kind in term of design. I have also mix and match from various rods available and ABC into one.... All comments appreciated. In order to lighten the rod, there will not be any winding check and aluminum bling blings... Comments? |

QUOTE(acheong7 @ Mar 4 2013, 04:53 PM) very nice, rory ... personally prefer a shorter butt end with the slant the other way around ... as in when the rod is laid to res in a rod holder, the butt is level or flush with the ground Bro Acheong, also prefer non-ACS trigger ... find the ACS a wee bit ... bulky but yes, salute ! skeletal or two piece seats will save weight, and increase sensitivity, too ... but no idea bout the cost tho' The picture above is not meant to scale. I'll do another one which have proper scale for you to see... If non ACS, then there's only ECS and TCS. ECS and TCS more bulky leh. Not so much of finger resting position too... ![]() ACS ![]() ECS ![]() TCS As for the split handle, need to specifically order from Matagi which is around 25USD each. Our Fuji disti in Malaysia(Sea Tackle) doesnt carry these fancy reel seat. ![]() Split handle AKA Acid seat AKA Naked seat However, if you still prefer the split reel seat type, i could figure something out |
