am very happy to hear of your progress, garager bro
no sifu la .. siput ada la if you were to ask ... i'd say it was your own effort that made it possible congratulations as for feathering, it just takes more practice and more fishing can try it while watching tv at home ... let the plug/lure fall slowly as the spool turns, try touching the spool line gently with your thumb let the thumb feel the spool line move .. stopping the spool just before the plug/lure hits the floor once you've gotten used to that feeling of the moving line with your thumb, let the plug/lure fall faster soon enough, the feeling on your thumb + hand-eye coordination will have improved very much your progress sounds like you'll get the hang/art of feathering soon enough oh yes, none of the above involves any changes to brake settings only playing around with the clutch/spool tension knob This post has been edited by acheong7: May 15 2013, 11:43 PM |

with live or dead but fresh bait ... two hooks is recommended
unless you're luring ... even then these lures come with 2-3 treble hooks worth the hassle |

sounds serious enough ... to withstand blazing hot sun, freezing nights, puke- and faint-inducing boat rides, getting pricked, poked, cut, stabbed, injured by your own gear, sliding and falling down banks .... handling earthworms, live fishbait, smelly bait, insect bait ... girlfriend up to these?
assuming you plan to eventually move on from payponds if yes, then better to invest in gear instead of trying out (cheap) tackle rod rm100 or thereabouts good enough - 1piece or 2piece depends on your usual mode of transport (each has pros and cons) - 8-17lb, 6-12lb, 8-20lb, 10-20lb are the usual suspects line @_@ mono(filament) has 'memory' ... after not using for sometime it will coil off your reel when you cast, not good for line management braid absorbs water and frays but has a general breaking strength of twice its stated strength ... about rm100 will fill one reel ... or two ... depending on brand ABU, shimano, ryobi, banax, penn 2000-2500 size reel these brands have their workhorse range that's <rm200 or <rm250 most ABUs come with a free spare spool bro fau is right bout terminal tackle, too many of us experienced the cheap thing no good adage as bro fau cautioned, no need for high end ... |

lemax, relix, nemesis, shino, bossna, protech, ryobi
fenwick, shimano, ABU, uglystik all value for money and tahan lasak relix and shimano have rods below rm100, lemax and uglystik USED to have shino and protech can get <rm100, too but need to shop around the rest can get below rm200 can't comment bout tomman line .. ain't tried yet try getting reels with spare spools ... one use mono, one use braid and you'll find out soon enough which you'll prefer all the best, mate btw, ss2 fishing fever has some nice stuff ... if you know how to haggle with Ann, you can get value buys ... value buys, not cheap buys |

i'd say design flaw ... putting on a metal cover is just a bandage solution
zaion is just daiwa's proprietary name for its own carbon/plastic material like Ci4 is for shimano granted, that happens when we retrieve while pressing down on line however, some local anglers shared that also happens when fighting fish ie, line is too close to the lip ie design flaw (for me) .. daiwa, in their focus on the t-wing lost sight of the overall ... i could be wrong the tatula looks like an improvement ... only time will tell |

possible for the bearing to rust or begin to fail even after a few times of use
not often but happens mine, even tho only freshwater usage, goes under shower when reach home .. reel & rod air dry, after removing spool and drying off oil the parts i can access spinning i surrender when it comes to the insides i find it easier to self service BCs but replacement of parts goes to the sifus my inshore saw a good few years before finally when in for proper servicing ... replace bearings only |
