just got 3 of my reels back from servicing from digital puchong, service cost RM25 each, and two of the below need replacement which cost additional RM20 each, total damage RM115. 1st pic is from daiwa exceller S, used i think only about 5 times and already need replacement? how does this gets damaged and any prevention that we need to pay more attention? any sifu can clarify? both reels also damaged same item
2nd pics is from my ryobi arctica but that reel is more than a year without servicing so i think its fair that only 1 part needs replacement

from what i can see at the bearing is definitely already rusty........

the both reel you use for sea fishing ?????

usually what i do with my reel is after sea fishing i soak them in fresh water for several hours (unspool the line)
after that put it under sun for drying without handle attaching, after that will oil the whole reel again before storing it ...
*
1 for sea 1 for freshwater. dont think so its rusty, the pics is not clear but i think what u saw is just the lubricant. and isnt that piece suppose to be stainless steel?

which bearing is this, bro?
line roller? or inside?
rm25/service pretty standard
rm20/bearing pun kire ok ... i look at mine as 'better i pay a little now than having to pay more later, or worse, need to replace the reel ... ' smile.gif
*
not sure which bearing bro i'm buta huruf when comes to parts. cost is ok just wanna know what causes it cuz the first one needs replacement only a few times' usage?

Looked like rust bro.. smile.gif

The larger bearing is either at pinion gear or the cranking gear side... where as the smaller bearing possible is the line roller... smile.gif

Wild guess nia.

Next time try to get SS bearings, stainless steel, at least could minimise the damage

Hint: Bearing=oil, gears and moving parts = grease

still so much to learn..thx rorytate

possible for the bearing to rust or begin to fail even after a few times of use
not often but happens

mine, even tho only freshwater usage, goes under shower when reach home .. reel & rod
air dry, after removing spool and drying off
oil the parts i can access
spinning i surrender when it comes to the insides

i find it easier to self service BCs
but replacement of parts goes to the sifus
my inshore saw a good few years before finally when in for proper servicing ... replace bearings only
*
hmmm...gotta start cleaning properly next time around

went to the fair this morning, couldnt see rory there at his garmin booth though
a lot of things to see, a few new tackle brands launched (cant remember name), overall its like a huge huge tackle shop, but dont expect any discount though, was disappointed with this.. i was looking for daiwa products but only managed to find 1 booth showcasing daiwa reels only, no rods and other stuff. same goes for shimano, no power pro....fuji is there and you can test the diff between normal guide and sic guide side by side. ABU only shows their BC reels yawn.gif some brands i never heard of are there, 1dollar can get ur boat there, coolman is there but at normal retail price, in fact most of the items in the fair are selling at normal retail price, and its rare for me to walk in to tackle shop and buy ntg, what so with this huge scale of fair lol

*remember to buy some rod & line mag and u're entitled for lucky draw plus a goodie bag full of non-fishing related items rclxms.gif
