btw back to the leader setup.... the float with the spring correct??? leader line use a swivel to put in between float and spring or on the other end of the spring???
anyone can recommend me a decent travel/portable rod? like a 4 piece detachable, not telescopic ones? just for fishing on the go. gonna be moving around quite often in the near future...wont wana drag a bazooka tube with me. preferably spinning though. was looking at storm solitude or shimano axis stc. (can't seem to find the latter though )
yeah yeah, tongsan it is.. i suppose these are all from the carp family and would eat similar food. but sigh, everytime get nothing, even when i get its coz i foul hooked the fish on its sides... wad a failure man
hmm usually tongsan prefer eat dedak
let me share you a recipe
1)chicken feed AKA dedak ayam 1kg - yellow color dedak , find that contain corn grind into small pieces. most of the market sold are mix with alot of unknown powder. those are not good , find those with alot of corn in it. try to grasp a handfull and smell it , it should only with sweet corn smell.
2)dedak 929 500g - find those without burning or plastic smell , those are fake dedak - it should only have fish smell
3) dedak 286 AKA dedak bomb (with the eagle in front , yellow color sticker) 500g - alot of fake in market - if you want to know how to spot fake and real click HERE - now new sticker is square shape instead of round
4)1 packet of NS power yellow color or green color (chose either 1, for tongsan take yellow better) - on the left hand side of top and bottom roll
5)1 cap of star brand banana flavor
how to mix it is easy , pour ingredient 1-4 into a bucket
after that mix with RO water / mineral or pond water , NO TAP water the chlorine in tap water will ruin the bait. water no need too much
the mixture should remain in powdery form , when you put it into the bait basket (spring) it will stick into it and should be able to throw the spring
dedak fall apart into piece during midair = too less water
dedak cant split in water = too much water , when happen when you reel in you still see dedak at the spring either whole piece or partial still sticking at the spring
the ideal 1 should be like this video
so now what you should put at the hook there are several choice you can use
My father breed this fish.... how's the fish fight sir? Its hard to catch this fish...
actually not too hard is just that this fish is abit picky on the bait and most of the angle cant different between small fish stealing bait or tongsan eating
but this fish only over 6kg can put up decent fight , anything lower then that you hardly feel the fun of it....

Hi sifu2.. Am new to fishing too, only bought myself some cheap setup.. Started this hobby around 1 month ago, went to few pay pond near Klang, am staying at Subang. I visited sea lion, desa kemuning siakap pond and yesterday went pandamaran SHG, so far only landed few fishes only but I saw one malay that started same time as me caught 7 kerapu in 2 hours time.. Wtf.. Really untung already.. And he's using dead fish meat..
I noticed many people like to use bottom casting instead of float method, but I'm still learning, very hard to Feel the bites la..
