Hang on first. I just got a unit to test. To be honest Mikrotik not that great with wifi. hAP AC2 had a lot of complaints for slow wifi initially but latest firmware supposed to have fixed the problems. Routing wise, the hAP AC2 is great. It's slightly faster than the RB750Gr3.

Ther first thing that comes to my mind is the value this product has is crazy. The SoC is better than hex and it come with wifi but at only 10 USD more expensive.

hi @ASUSmy or anyone that can help?

i'm using asus rt ac55uhp. unifi 500Mbps turbo. I cannot get pass 300Mbp (usually 250Mbps to 270Mbps) using the only LAN and the correct gigabyte cable. upload is okay 100Mbps +++. The problem is the download speed eventhough it is stated that the LAN is gigabt capable?

Throtle (QOS) and bandwith limiter is OFF.

Is there anything i can try?

or there will be a firmware upgrade or is this a hardware error

There are lots of routers support gigabit ethernet but the problem is the CPU in the router can't process so fast

QUOTE(firecracker @ Sep 19 2018, 09:19 PM)
oh..then that's it..it's the router...gonna welcome ac86u soon..btw..which part of the specs that dampen the ability to go 500 on lan?

The CPU

Hi,

I recently got UniFi Turbo Upgraded to 500Mbps.

I am using the Asus RT-AC66U and CAT6 cable to connect to the Internet. But if I use the Asus RT-AC66U my internet download speed cannot reach 500Mbps, the highest I can get is around 150Mbps, and the upload speed is around 80Mbps.

The Telekom Malaysia has provided me with the Dlink AC1200 Wi-Fi Router DIR-842 if using this router I can easily reach a download speed of 500++Mbps and upload speed of around 80Mbps.

I still prefer to use the ASUS router to connect to the Internet, may I know what went wrong with my ASUS RT-AC66U router?

Please help. Thank you.

Tom

Hi, hope anyone could help me. Purchased ac86u purposely to enable NordVPN & Netflix US on router level. Currently on Merlin latest firmware

Setup as per this guide
https://nordvpn.com/tutorials/asustwrt-merlin/openvpn/

I check my IP is US but somehow I cannot play US content. It said something like proxy or unblocker.

Please advise
*
Netflix started to clamp down people using VPN to geo-unblock the content and hence you are unable to use it.

This evening lightning strike the unifi pole behind my house. My unifi BTU display light went dead. I suspect it must have burnt the unit. Have reported to unifi technical.

Later I found out that my AC66U B1 which I bought less than 3 years ago also went dead with no led display lights. Can anyone confirm is warranty covered for lightning strike?

Try playing dumb and not mention lightning strike when sending in devil.gif

any Broadcom based routers has excellent NAT acceleration (CTF) that can handle gbps speed even on shittiest cpu by bypassing it altogether, as long you don't enable QoS. (Qos will requires traffic to pass through cpu, which conflicts with CTF) . Most of Asus routers are broadcom-based (All AX models and AC1750-class above)
*
The lone AX model that's not Broadcom based is the RT-AX53U which is Mediatek.

Is it? my bad. I thought its broadcom because wikidevi reports it's based on BCM6755, same as 56U.

A teardown by the FCC revealed it's Mediatek and a Russian review also revealed Mediatek SoC in teardown.

Can RT-AX88U easily cover 2000sqft double storey house ? Especially the 5Ghz wifi ?
*
If you're expecting usable internet around your house, it is. If you're expecting more than 100 Mbps, it isn't.

Means ZenWifi XT8 is a better choice ?
*
You haven't tell us about your expectation on network performance, budget and subscribed speed.

Assuming you have fastest internet (1 Gbps) and unlimited budget, ZenWifi XT8 definitely is a great choice.

My expectation is to have smooth 4K streaming throughout the house with 3 to 5 devices at the same time.

Budget below 2k.

Currently subscribed to 100mbps, but potentially upgrade to 300mbps in near future.
*
Blacktubi had tested and noted that ZenWifi XD6 could perform up to 400 Mbps on the mesh node. Your budget could get XT8 but XD6 and XT8 had relatively similar coverage and you're preparing for 300 Mbps, I would advice save some money and get ZenWifi XD6.

Thanks for the recommendation. XT8 can perform higher than 400 mbps ? Mesh node can achieve these speed with wireless backhaul ? Wireless backhaul mean connect the mesh node to main unit through wifi, so mesh node only need power socket n nothing else right ?

Do u have the link to Blacktubi review ?
*
XD6: https://www.blacktubi.com/review/asus-zenwifi-xd6/
XT8: https://www.blacktubi.com/review/asus-zenwifi-ax-xt8/
Take note that comparison chart in the XT8 refers to router running in mesh (2 unit instead of 1).

Yes, the mesh node perform those speed at wireless backhaul. If you're running on wireless backhaul, you only need a socket.

guys im thinking of getting RT-AC5300 from china, just wanna know is it compatible with unifi?

Don't bother getting it from China. Those device had lesser available 5G band (due to Chinese regulation) and weaker transmission power (due to Chinese regulation as well).
