Is it all the Asus router that come with 3 years Asus Malaysia warranty, the warranty cover by Advancenet Technology nationwide ?

Plan to get Asus RT-AX88U next month. Any shop in Lowyat Plaza to recommend ?

Thanks !

Can RT-AX88U easily cover 2000sqft double storey house ? Especially the 5Ghz wifi ?

If you're expecting usable internet around your house, it is. If you're expecting more than 100 Mbps, it isn't.

Means ZenWifi XT8 is a better choice ?

You haven't tell us about your expectation on network performance, budget and subscribed speed.

Assuming you have fastest internet (1 Gbps) and unlimited budget, ZenWifi XT8 definitely is a great choice.
*
My expectation is to have smooth 4K streaming throughout the house with 3 to 5 devices at the same time.

Budget below 2k.

Currently subscribed to 100mbps, but potentially upgrade to 300mbps in near future.

Blacktubi had tested and noted that ZenWifi XD6 could perform up to 400 Mbps on the mesh node. Your budget could get XT8 but XD6 and XT8 had relatively similar coverage and you're preparing for 300 Mbps, I would advice save some money and get ZenWifi XD6.
*
Thanks for the recommendation. XT8 can perform higher than 400 mbps ? Mesh node can achieve these speed with wireless backhaul ? Wireless backhaul mean connect the mesh node to main unit through wifi, so mesh node only need power socket n nothing else right ?

Do u have the link to Blacktubi review ?

Dont forget ASUS AX11000 router costs RM2000+

The XT12 is basically 2 units of AX11000 router.
*
Definitely will give it a pass if cost more than RM2000+ biggrin.gif
But if u look at Asus AX6000 router (RT-AX88U), it cost almost the same with XT8 2pack.

I just notice the XT12 got better specs than the GT-AX11000 as well.

ASUS put in the latest 2.0Ghz CPU from Broadcom with all new 5Ghz radio. Not to mention dual 2.5G port.

It will be a ridiculous product and probably the fastest mesh WiFi or wireless router in the market.
*
Hope Asus won't charge RM1000 for the upgrade smile.gif

Btw, anyone have upgrade ur XT8 to latest firmware version 46061? Any comment or face any issue?

Yup, been running it for close to 3 days.

XT8 been rather problem-free these days. In fact, the past few firmware been working fine for me.
*
Thanks ... glad to hear that, will upgrade mine soon thumbup.gif

Then, it's shouldn't be a surprise if the price here in the range of RM3000+ to RM4000+
Selling price in US for ET12 is US$899.

Anybody has suggestion for extension cord for Asus Zenwifi XT8's power adapter ?

Plan to mount the router near the ceiling but the cord from the power adapter is not long enough, and don't want to use power socket extension if possible.

What's the downside if I connect TUF-AX4200 (dual band) to my ZenWifi XT8 using wireless backhaul ?

Hi stormaker,

You will probably getting half the speed compare to the XT8 node.

Thank you
*
TUF-AX4200 have speed of 3603Mbps on 5Ghz band, so half of that would be 1800Mbps, even faster than XT8 node which is 1200Mbps. So, theoretically can support Unifi 1Gbps plan with this setup.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Wrong

First you need to factor in a 50% discount due to retransmission consuming the airtime.

Then, factor in around 60% singal reduction after 2 walls and another 40% capacity lost due to overhead.

3603*0.5*0.4*0.6 = 432Mbps, this will be the realistic maximum speed you can get when connected to TUF-AX4200 on wireless backhaul to ZenWiFi XT8.

Even you add another XT8, the theoretical maximum speed on wireless mesh node is around 700-800Mbps

If you want Gig speed on mesh node, only the XT12 can do it reliably.
*
Thanks for the explanation, currently I'm using 500Mbps, so I need to add another XT8 then. Planning to add another Aimesh node next to my computer in another room using wireless backhaul, then connect the node to computer using ethernet cable, should get me full n stable 500Mbps internet.

But will consider XT12 for future proof.

Hi, hope someone can help me on this.

I'm using Asus Zenwifi XT8 Aimesh with wireless backhaul and the connection between main and node show "Great".

1) My computer with shared folder is connected to the main router, when my Apple TV is connecting to the main router too, it can access the shared folder through SMB, but once I connect it to the node, it couldn't access the shared folder anymore unless I disable the AIprotection. How do I allow the shared folder access in this case without disabling the AIprotection ?

2) The shared folder transfer speed is very slow at 20 to 30 Mbps only with SMB 2.0, even though I can get more than 300Mbps when I do internet speed test. My computer is connected to wifi and Apple TV is connected to node through wired.

If I connect the Apple TV to the main router through wired, it can achieve above 200Mbps speed.

Anyway I can improve this.

Thanks !
