Is it normal?

And i yet to see the media server available.

Should be instant ( in my case at least, 2TB non-ssd sata hdd)
*
no idea why in my case it's taking so long.

i am using ORICO SATA to USB3.0 HDD Enclosure High Speed 5Gpbs Transparent 3.5 inch Hard Disk Case
https://shopee.com.my/product/113963244/6303442075

Plus WD purple 2TB sata 3.5" hard drive.

after i set the media server again. it will take hours until it show up.

is it because i used a 5400rpm hard drive?

Exactly same to mine! If it takes hours, something must be wrong with the hard disk. Have you tried with other hard disk? This is to exclude router’s issue
*
no, only bought 1 HDD.

nowaday using laptop, no more invest in Sata HDD.

when the HDD go to sleep, do you able to wake it up?

What do u mean hdd goes to sleep? I just plug to usb 3.0 port and just use it. Do we have to set it up to sleep? In that case, I don’t set anything.
*
i left it overnight.

however the USB seem like gone in the morning.
i need to repower the casing to get it work again.

don't know what faulty is this now

i am ok with my previous portable seagate HDD.

You may use check disk utility in Windows. Use the one in Command Prom. Do a full scan & fix. Most of the time it’ll fix all errors
*
doing a throughout format now..
took quite long time for that.

probably i just quick format the new HDD and quickly insert movie into it.
will try after format done.

Yeah, I think it's the problem with the router. Don't buy ax3000. I have the same problem as you. It will randomly disconnect/hang. Try to swap and use your ac68u as the main router?
*
oh, i had the same issue. but never suspect it was due to this ax3000. thanks for the information.
occasionally will disconnect.

Yeah I have noticing for long time, asus routers are bit fussy when it comes to cable quality. Getting shit cat5 cable to work in GbE mode at 20m is hit and miss. My other mikrotik and dlink switches dont have this issue.
*
previously i had same issue with cat7 cable bought online. I rotated the connection, then it's back to 1gbps.
