will sent RMA tmr.
i brought it from Amazon as i'm based in NYC, i believe for sure is a hardware issue.

i try everything from what i describe 2 post back, even try changing SSID like what you suggested but aint working.

even if i manage to connect to 2.4Ghz, the connection probably last like 1 min then it will auto cut me off

update to my AC86U issue, sent back to ASUS for RMA within 2 days finish repair and mail back to me (not convince that they actually fix the issue because no reason is given either they repair the router or giving me a replacement unit), the good news is that Amazon is sending me a replacement unit free of charge (no question ask even after 2 months) and I will have 1 month time to return back the old router. Never knew amazon has such excellent service, now I get to have 2 unit to test out for a month before decide to return either one

RT-86U user here

out of sudden the 2.4G 40Mhz channel is getting very unstable and very slow (speed testing show less then 10mb)

but when i change back to 20Mhz, everything is fine. No issue with LAN and 5GHz

anyone encounter such issue ?

You should avoid using 40Mhz as 2.4Ghz is very overcrowded and 40Mhz will make it worst.

40Mhz will actually cause a lot of channel overlapping resulting in poor performance.

Lots of interference if you do that lol. That is why it gets unstable and become slow. Stick to 20Mhz for 2.4GHz.

I was using 40Mhz for quite some time and there wasn't any issue, I suspect it could be a hardware issue.

anyway, Amazon sent me a brand new unit as a replacement, gonna test out both unit to see is it a hardware issue.

btw, I don't have such issue when using my old router Asus RT-14UHP
