Sorry to know that you are very unlucky and got a bad apple.
Its seem that you bought the US imported set (AP set) and cannot get the official Lenovo receipt from the reseller for 1 to 1 replacement according to your post in garage sales quoted belows:

Lenovo can call for proof of purchase for major warranty claims for imported set as its stipulated in their international warranty claims terms & conditions.

I think Lenovo Malaysia and service centre wisen up to all those grey import Y series and decide to put its foot down sweat.gif
TS, alternative is try another service centre, and play nice / beg / plead .... tongue.gif

What happen if we claim that official Lenovo receipt/invoice is lost or misplaced?  laugh.gif

Definitely a tactic worth trying for TS, of course with another service centre tongue.gif
Make up stories like brother bought for TS in US or something like that .... laugh.gif Don't play angry, play "victim", teary eyes, ... that kind of thing.
The idea is for the service personnel to take pity on you sweat.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

not sure if extending warranty for your "import" set solve the local warranty problem?
*
As I understand from a re-seller, for Y series, Lenovo Malaysia only sell extended warranty upon purchase of local set tongue.gif i.e. buyer cannot even choose to extend the 1 year international warranty of the grey import unit sweat.gif

Claim without warranty shoukd not be an issue because they can always resort to the manufacturing date. In Lenovo Malaysia playinh with their customer?

Go to Lenovo website, check out its terms and condition for claiming International Warranty support, pay attention to ASEAN section.
Lenovo Malaysia just "throwing the rule book" at the grey imports re-sellers sweat.gif and acting within its terms and conditions tongue.gif
