Try a hard reset. Probably a screwed up cache. Upon setting up the phone, did you sign in to your Microsoft Account? If you did, please proceed to perform a hard reset. Backup everything, go Settings, About, Reset phone.

For physical key presses, follow this http://www.hard-reset.com/htc-8x-hard-reset.html

no need to backup.i just bought last night tongue.gif

btw,i already reset it.now at set up your phone use recommended or custom?
*
Just use recommended. Make sure you sign into your primary Microsoft Account.

Edit: If it's still busted after this, bring it back for replacement. Do the whole process again, in front of them. If they still ask you to wait for software update, just shoot them with this "you mean Nokia products require updates to actually open office and wallet properly?"

Eh, how to do that tagging thing? lol

Anyway, the easiest way is to store everything in your Skydrive through PC. Grab a Skydrive installer, install it on your PC, sign in, plug in your Android device, drag everything and drop into your Skydrive.

Once done, go to your WP, sign in to your Skydrive and let it sync. You'll get everything you need there.

hi, is there anyway to transfer sms from an android phone to a wp8 based phone?
*
Unfortunately, no. Unless they use the same storing format (which I highly doubt so), it'd be nearly impossible to transfer.

Honestly.. I don't really feel much diff with portico in terms of the battery.. maybe I would need to wait a while since this is a newly flashed firmware. I did have a few restarts still.. so no clue there...
I do love that the wifi is always on as my whatsapp messages seem to be coming in frequently and well.
Hopefully the future updates would have more fixes smile.gif
*
While Portico looks like a decent minor update, it's still not good enough. These features should've been in there since day one and running out of time isn't an excuse. In terms of features, WP is more than a year away from iOS and Android. They need more work, particularly with TellMe. The next update will truly make or break WP. If they do not bring about great features, I will drop the platform and resign from all things WP. I've given my 3 full years to support this platform and it looks like they could use a wake up call.

Somehow agree with you as I hop into WP7 when it was first launched and the momentum doesn't really move too much... I know the current WP8 is a good product, but it's just a 'barely good enough' product to compete with the rest... Apps has been exhaustive since day 1 and yet after 3 years it's still not ramp up... Skype recent updates of Beta testing has not included WP8 as well?! Photosynth is still missing?! and guess what as both products are from Microsoft itself... haih... I shall give it 1 more year, if not I may also jump ship to Android...
*
Yes, that pretty much sums up my sentiments. It won't be another full year for me. Come this July, if nothing new is announced, I'm dropping it.

thats one of my disappointment as well.
Read the lumia 920 thread so many ppl having issue with their phones.
*
Having issue is one thing. No taking necessary steps to resolve it is another.

I'm fine with the first, but not with the latter. No device on earth is without issues, but it seems Microsoft is taking their own sweet time to address them, and Nokia could only do so much. Much of the issues stem from the new NT kernel.

Edit: And it's not only restricted to L920. Even the HTC models have similar issues, like random reboots, freezes, etc.

remember when lumia 920 was announce they delay the phone like forever to launch is okay but when launch tons of devices have problem. I cant brain this if they launch quick and have issue is acceptable but after long delay and with tons of issue is hard to accept.

Majority and higher percentage is on lumia 920
*
They didn't exactly delay. According to reports, they didn't have good enough supply, so naturally, US & Canada would be their target markets first. It did come to our shores before year end with decent pricing, that, to me, was good enough.

The problem is the software, sure L920 does has its fair share of bugs, but Nokia did take steps to rectify them through PR1.1 (img algorithm tuning - sharpness). On contrary, I can't say the same for Microsoft. From WP7 to WP8, nothing much changed. Portico, nothing much added. How much more time do they want? Come July (my yearly purchase month), I'll give them the middle finger if they don't do something about their platform.

I'll head over to BB or Samsung.

Yea WP7 to WP8 not much WOW factor to even begin to brag about it.

They did delay even in US

Announce in SEPT phone only available in December. 3 months delay.

I using Note 2 i can say quite satsify with the phone overall. Not much complaint.

Battery life also WOW
Apps acceptable
Updates since i got the phone i got like 5 to 7 updates just today itself got 2 100MB updates
*
Just to correct you, it was announced in Sept, available in Nov, some places, end Oct (early, unofficial release), so not too bad.

Note 2 is too big for me, plus it's still too early to look for a phone now. I'll see how much technology advances in the coming months.

Battery life WOW because it has a tablet battery, huge one, given its form factor, no surprises smile.gif

Not so much on apps for me, I just want to enjoy the core experience (email, attachments, documents, reading). For heaven's sake, on WP, I can't even attach a PDF or share more than one document file through email, that alone, disappoint me to the max.

Yup got 4g today. Basically you need a microSIM, not a CUT SIM to Microsim to allow 4g to work. Just incase those dumb dumbs at Maxis tell you anything advice that this is what you want.
2ndly you would need portico for 4g to work. Its not that fast as well, as I think they are still testing the service here and there. The best I have gotten is 12-13mbps -,-
*
Which is good, considering that I only get 5mbps from Unifi biggrin.gif

Nokia Amcorp Mall. Mine has the multi touch problem. Called them and they said the part will arrive in march. I'm seriously pissed. I only have the phone for like 10 days and I'm being made to wait for so long. This is even after escalating the issue.

EDIT: Initially they said two weeks which I was very unhappy about because it's clearly a hardware glitch. It's been more than four weeks now.
*
As expected. They are still running short of supplies.

Of course, a proper PR move would be to replace your faulty unit rather than fixing, but I guess it was Nokia Malaysia being stupid.

Videos wont be saved, will only be saved on the chat itself.
This is because of the limitation of the WP8 OS if im not mistaken  blush.gif
*
True videos can't be saved (I'm not entirely sure if it's an OS limitation), but they can be forwarded, better than nothing smile.gif

You can transfer any files via bluetooth to any other platforms, except DRM protected media files.

Well, programmers have families to feed too, right?

htc 8s got data sense right? yawn.gif

Data Sense requires telcos to adopt MSFT's technology and make use of MSFT's servers. Unfortunately, it's not available here. Even in the US, only Verizon is doing it.

Hi guys just a question. I text and facebook message alot of my lumia 920. A lot meaning alot.. but honestly my batter is dying in like 8 tomax 11 hours. How do you all fare? Honestly is it the same? Cause its only texting thats basically it.
I am wondering if my battery is having an issue right now. Do let me know guys. Thanks.
*
That's normal, especially if you're in an area with poor 3G reception. Portico should improve your battery life slightly, given the always-on Wi-Fi connection.

yeah well I am on portico. Mine was update in the Nokia Care center when I had the screen issue.. so I dont really see any difference at home or out...sad.gif with wifi or not with wifi...
*
Then I guess that'd be the maximum it can last. I don't do much texts, more so on calls and emails and I can get about 14 - 16 hours in a day which I think is fairly good.
