QUOTE(omisa @ Jan 12 2013, 06:16 AM) had that before. soft and hard reset won't do. in the end, had to send to nokia centre, which, in such "professional" way, told me it is just a software issue. Yea, most likely a firmware issue. Was on call through Bluetooth, then when I was about to end call, an SMS came in, TellMe started kicking in and it froze over. Damn the NT Kernel. On CE Kernel, it would automatically force either one to terminate without you knowing, it wouldn't even freeze.in which took them 4 days to resolve. after got it back, screen goes blank when I wanna make call. after soft reset, it goes normal again. really, we need Portico, pronto! |

QUOTE(azraeil @ Jan 12 2013, 11:41 PM) This would also depend on network signals. If you're in an area with low coverage, your battery drains faster. In the best case scenario, with moderate use, you'd be correct. In the worst case, you could get slightly less than 10 hours because the radio is actively trying to get a better signal source, switching between 2G and 3G and so on. |

QUOTE(azraeil @ Jan 13 2013, 04:13 PM) It's probably because I'm on GPRS only. Something is weird with my network provider these past couple of days. Soemtime I get 3G (or H in the signal) but most of the time now I am getting G (which is GPRS). Whatsapp still sucks on WP8 though .... it's barely bearable. Agreed on Whatsapp. They seriously need to fire the team. |

QUOTE(KayK @ Jan 13 2013, 10:51 PM) to be honest, i'm not entirely sure if whatsapp 100% at fault... I'm not sure about this. Haven't noticed this on my phone. But that's beside the point. The whole Whatsapp experience just sucks on WP. LINE is so much more responsive than Whatsapp.i noticed something with WP8...let say the signal drop from H/3G to E or GPRS, i wont be able to fetch any data at all, people hub / weather and other chat apps, like LINE and wechat, i would need to either turn on flight mode or on / off my data connection... not a biggie, hopefully the upcoming update fix this issue... |

QUOTE(JasonWilton @ Jan 13 2013, 11:23 PM) I would like to ask, why mainly those games in WP is somehow laggy(low framerate), unlike iOS and android. Can you list down the games so that we could have a check? Angry Birds run fine on my phone, which happens to be the only games I play, casually. Is it the cause on the developer of the app or the WP platform itself? QUOTE(godhpf @ Jan 15 2013, 05:25 PM) My gf's 920 suddenly suck at taking low light pictures. When it first came in, it was brilliant. Now the pictures it takes is the same with my 620. Just barely brighter. This is usual. Until you get Portico update, get ready for more data consumption. When the phone goes to sleep, the WiFi will go off as well. So any toast notifications you get, it will consume your data. Portico will fix this, in February. The wifi has intermittent problem too. Sometimes it works. sometimes it doesn't. Because of this, it eats up the data plan. My gf only have 250mb and it's all used up within 10 days though she's always on wifi. Going to nokia SC tomorrow to have it looked at. Sucks. As for taking low light pictures, kindly enable Focus Assist Light. It will create a flash before taking pictures so that light enters the lens (something along the line, I ain't a photographer pro). You may leave your flash off though. |

QUOTE(godhpf @ Jan 16 2013, 08:27 AM) I know about the wifi off when screen off thing. It's not that. The wifi is problematic. I cannot upload anything to skydrive using wifi. I tried multiple AP. still same. It keeps waiting for wifi. Then i use my 620 to use those AP. works without any problem. Yea, in that case, it sounds more like a defect. Bring it to the service center. It's eating a lot of data, 250mb is gone in 10 days. Any youtube/surfing is done only with wifi on. My assumption is it's cannot transfer via wifi and the phone is reverting back to data. Not sure about this though Edit: restarting the phone didn't help I enabled AF light. Flash off. The day I bought it, i took some pictures in really low light. Works great. Now the photo is very very dark. barely better than 620. Same pose, same location. It can still take the butterfly picture at those nokia shops. But if it is slightly dimmer, then the picture is aweful. Cleaned it. still the same. Hard resetting the phone seems to solve the wifi thing. But I'm tired of resetting. 3 times d. No choice but to take it ot the service centre. |

QUOTE(foxxy @ Jan 21 2013, 09:45 PM) Anyone can try this, take a screenshot, go to whatsapp, try and attach the screenshot to a friend. Any problem doing so ? This has been reported. It's because Whatsapp only supports .jpg while screenshots taken are of type .png. Next major release should see Whatsapp rectify that, fingers crossed |

Then gone 15mins then come out okay sir your phone can collect tomorrow i was WTF. When buying HTC, well, just pray that your unit works without issue. Pray that it doesn't fail, otherwise, going through their warranty is like nightmare. My name card ada sikit power. I've personally been through that, enough is enough. No more HTC as long as SIS is the main distributor. |

QUOTE(ashwin988 @ Jan 23 2013, 05:55 PM) Honestly, Samsung is still the best when it comes to warranty. My Nexus S was repaired before with no issues. I agree about the SIS service. Their call center sucks and they will ignore your calls. I got my phone replaced in an hour. So i guess I have more power My problem with them was far worse. I had a Desire S for about a month+, started having issues, sent in for repair, 1 week later, it was ready for collection, then started having a different issue. The cycle went on for about 6 times, I got so fed up (delays in between, half a year gone), I asked for compensation for loss of use. Then HTC Taiwan called, ding dong ding dong, another month gone. In the end, after negotiations, they replaced it with a HTC Sensation without Beats (which I bet was yet another refurb unit). I sold it off right away.Told them off on the phone, said this is too much, they said ok, come tomorrow to Kelana will one on one for you and yes.. i got my phone in 1 hour As for Samsung, well, all I can say is, their units are not consistent. Sure they have good service, but I'd still stay away from Samsung until I see better track record. In the family, my cousin bought an S2, masuk factory dunno how many times. My aunty bought an S3, again, masuk factory. So far, Nokia hasn't failed me. Let's put firmware and stuff aside, at least, I haven't had to send a single unit in for repair. To me, Nokia's reputation is top notch in this regard. Worst is HTC. |

QUOTE(ticke @ Jan 29 2013, 09:14 AM) No, the Portico update is not available yet. It should be within a few days as it takes time to propagate to all the servers around the world. So if it says your phone is up to date, it means there's no update available, yet. QUOTE(murv90 @ Feb 5 2013, 02:20 AM) It may really come, but its price tag will be skyhigh. 8.7 MP pureview costs RM1,999 at launch, how much do you think a 41 MP pureview would cost? RM2,999 perhaps? |

QUOTE(murv90 @ Feb 5 2013, 11:41 PM) but dont think they can add the wireless charging functionality and OIS with a 41mp camera. that would make the phone too bulky and heavy. people are already complaining about 920. imagine more thickness and weight. If they choose to use Magnesium Alloy / Aluminium mixed with poly carbonate, they can significantly reduce the weight. iPhone 5 is a very good example. Although easily bendable, it's light, feather light.on the other hand htc's boasting about their oversampling tech. http://wmpoweruser.com/htc-mocks-41mp-coun...era-experience/ Honestly, I think HTC is making a very bad move here attacking Nokia. They should be going after Samsung, not Nokia. On top of that, their first ultrapixel phone is gonna be yet another Android, which they have been failing to sell. Time will tell how they fare, but whacking Nokia and giving a middle finger to WP (the fact that they chose to announce an Android first and WP later with the ultrapixel tech)? I've lost faith in them, now, respect too. |

QUOTE(murv90 @ Feb 6 2013, 03:07 PM) Yeah, they shouldn't have bashed nokia for their renown camera technology that actually works and not only show off. Very bad move indeed, and honestly doubt they will have a technology better than pureview. Well if they do its better for us only as nokia won't keep quiet after that. That, along with VPN. Let's hope more features will be announced come MWC.On the other hand, WP8 Notification Center! I can't wait for the day they finally merge W8 RT with WP8. That'd kickass. Edit: The info was found to be fake. Check it out here This post has been edited by jonchai: Feb 6 2013, 03:31 PM |

QUOTE(FlamingR @ Feb 8 2013, 12:19 PM) Ok, there is a lot of things to consider. From Router configuration to Wifi access points, device settings. Not all WiFi devices are capable of connecting to all channels. Kindly ensure that your router's WiFi broadcasting channel is not set to auto. Manually set it to channel 1 (most WiFi devices are able to search / connect), 6 (common channel) or 9, 10, 11.-Which router brand & model are you using? Who is your Internet Service Provider? -Can you see your SSID (Name of your wifi you want to join)? -Is it a public wifi hotspot or house network? Can you connect to other wifi networks? Edit: looks like I was replying to the wrong person. Anyway, hope the 620 guy sees this This post has been edited by jonchai: Feb 8 2013, 03:05 PM |
