I wonder if Nokia accepts POIs from their users like how Google Maps incorporates all the input from their users (Panoramio etc etc). If they do that, then the POI numbers will increase really rapidly.

Toggle the Airplane mode for 5 minutes to cool the CPU down. Some apps are latching on to the CPU and really try to toast the motherboard one. A good cool down usually works.

I can confirm that apps in the background really hit your battery hard. Previously when I had maybe 1 app running in the background, I get maybe a 2-4% hit if I left the phone idle at night .... (email still fetches every 1 hour). Now I'm getting a 15-20% hit ..... then again, I stopped worrying about battery life already ... I now charge my phone whenever I want and I don't worry too much. When I get home, I put it on the wireless plate and I don't think about it ... this morning the phone only had 37% battery and I took it to work ... I don't worry about it and now the phone is charging via the USB cable .... all this worry about battery is not worth the stress ....

This happens everytime you soft reset the phone as well.

I can replicate this issue everytime I soft reset ... meaning that everytime I soft reset I will have to set the time and date again. They say this is affecting some of the units so I guess, I'm one of them ....

You need to setup the Microsoft Account in your phone first and then you need to go to the windowsphone.com and you should be able to re-install your apps. (that's the theory anyway)

Storage check is another 1.2GB update (another reflash) with 1357.1008 firmware me thinks.

Previously, before I upgraded to Portico, there is a definite lag between connectivity between G, E & H. When I am in a G (elevator for example) area and I move to an H area, it takes at least 5-6 minutes before the signal actually turn to H, in fact there will be time that it never turns to H and I will have to switch on the Airplane OFF/ON switch to force the phone to look for a better data network. The thing with this phone is that if it is in a G network, it will basically not connect to the internet. It will say G (for GPRS) but it actually means NO INTERNET. I think what you are having is the false H where the phone is saying H but actually it's not.

Did you set using those diagnostic code for 3G only? Maybe that is the culprit whereby the phone is unable to switch between signal strength or data connection type so it keeps saying it's H but in actual fact it's a G ... I'm just speculating here.

If all else fails, go to Nokia again and tell them your problem and your GFs problem and make sure they solve it ....

I just had the same issue just now. My phone was saying H but when I sent a whatsapp message, it showed the clock icon (meaning it's waiting for connection. So I open IE and tried to go to my favorite site and it was sloooow ....... once it's connected, I can then see the whatsapp chat message sent. There is a definite lag between the "actual" data connectivity and the one showed by the device. Same thing with the battery actually, sometimes it's 30 percent and sometimes it goes up to 35% when it was not connected to any power source so it's actually a false reading.

I suspect it's Digi having crappy signals in your case.
