All you mentioned here is just like what I'm using here. Digi with micro SIM card.
I seldom using WiFi since I used unlimited data package (5GB). But sometimes when i want to download apps i will use my house TM net Broadband wireless WiFi and never failed so far.
I just dunno what is the problem. Anyway when i used Network Diagnostics APPS I noticed this :
This is the screen short of all the findings:

Previously, before I upgraded to Portico, there is a definite lag between connectivity between G, E & H. When I am in a G (elevator for example) area and I move to an H area, it takes at least 5-6 minutes before the signal actually turn to H, in fact there will be time that it never turns to H and I will have to switch on the Airplane OFF/ON switch to force the phone to look for a better data network. The thing with this phone is that if it is in a G network, it will basically not connect to the internet. It will say G (for GPRS) but it actually means NO INTERNET. I think what you are having is the false H where the phone is saying H but actually it's not.
Did you set using those diagnostic code for 3G only? Maybe that is the culprit whereby the phone is unable to switch between signal strength or data connection type so it keeps saying it's H but in actual fact it's a G ... I'm just speculating here.
If all else fails, go to Nokia again and tell them your problem and your GFs problem and make sure they solve it ....
