They probably tried to avoid what happened in Amazon UK.  Royal Mail accused Amazon UK, who is also Royal Mail largest customers, taken the parcel business away from Royal Mail since Amazon UK also launched Amazon Delivery.  laugh.gif
*

I dont get it..

AMZ.CA raised their shipping charges from CAD2.49 to 9.99 per item and per order - 4.99 to 10.99[n tis is regular standard shipping . priority/expediated is even more exp..] - how is tis similar to AMZ.UK??

Just kidding lah.  laugh.gif  I checked the internet.  Seem like not only SEA but Europe too.  Someone did complained to Amazon CA after discussed with CS online and give examples of previous transactions regarding previous shipping charges (before shipping charges increased), Amazon CS submit Trouble Ticket for his order and said will fix in 3 to 5 days.  Seem like this the deliberate move by Amazon CA.  tongue.gif
*
Editted to add :
I actually didnt realise [my last purchase was a coupla mths ago..] they raised their charges until I bought de Weeds complete collection BD n when I checked my order/account - got a shock when l found it so expensive - luckily de boxset was cheap or else l would have cancelled..

QUOTE(fadthil @ Dec 3 2014, 04:16 AM)
i have actually contacted amazon's cs and he has looked into it and said my order was fine and everything was in order.

it is not so much that i really care about receiving such email but i started becoming concern when i received sms from my bank that amazon has charged my cc when actual fact that my order has yet to be prepared for shipping... knowing that usually they only do that when an order has been shipped. hmm.gif

but everything is fine now... all has been shipped except one because no stock... nod.gif
*
Bro,

SMS rcvd becos AMZ test your card - l sumtimes rcv sms too but for 0 amt.. n sometimes wif legit figure

QUOTE(maskedchan @ Dec 3 2014, 09:27 AM)
since CA and US are neighbours..i think it is reasonable that they have similar charging rate for shipping..
*

I checked de US site n no ; AMZ.COM still retain their charges
AMZ.CA with de new chrgs hv priced themselves out of most ppls budget - just imagine if u buy a cheap sale ttl of 5/- n u hv to pay 5 + 11 + 10 = 26CAD - Bill Gates oso lari la..
On tat subject ; AMZ.UK is still de most competitive wif their chrgs ..

I m so glad I invested in a rgn free player..

Which method did you use to ship your parcels? If priority shipping, if kena tax, DHL will not charge you (at least from my experience), they will collect from Amazon.  Remember when you check out, there is one column for import tax deposit?  If based on Amazon computation, you need to pay this deposit, once you paid, the import duty will handle by Amazon.  If Amazon said zero deposit for import duty, if you kena, that is still Amazon responsibility since the price you paid is all inclusive until arrive at your doorstep.  laugh.gif
*
Amz has access to your card particulars - they can add any charge they deem fit, later ..
At least tat is in theory la.. but normally they'll email u first if they wanna charge..

QUOTE(singz85 @ Dec 3 2014, 09:15 PM)
All of my orders are used standard shipping and I never use priority shipping before. Why some of you willing pay extra for priority shipping?
I found that AMZ CA was used DHL to ship my parcels even i just use standard shipping.
*
Actually, for tat .. its not a 'given' - sometimes AMZ.CA will use Royal Canadian Mail n .. god .. tat takes forever - like 7 weeks [actual time] ; 9 wks [their estimation] .. I know, I kena before.. but lately, all standard shpng pckgs use DHL..
In hindsight, maybe tats why they raised their shpng chargs - to reflect tat..

QUOTE(fadthil @ Dec 4 2014, 01:51 AM)
nice selection bro... and also the rest of u guys! i didn't share my full list yet, so here goes:

Transformers: Age of Extinction $5.99 (of coz this one is lightning deal; originally at $13.00)
X-Men and the Wolverine Collection (total 6 movies) $19.99 (lightning deal too; originally $24.99)
Godzilla (2014) $7.99 (i missed the lightning deal... tongue.gif )
Fast & Furious 6 $9.00
A Good Day to Die Hard $3.99
The Ring $5.00
Marvel's The Avengers $9.99 – this one no stock at this moment, so not yet shipped.

The first 6 titles already been shipped but split into two parcels... by MSI (whether this one is better, worse or more or less like i-Parcel; i have no absolute idea...)  hmm.gif
*
I tink abt d same - no better , no worse .. best is stil courier [ blast.. if not for de KDN cert issue.. ]

QUOTE(fadthil @ Dec 4 2014, 02:11 AM)
Through my experience, it depends. In my case before, i made two different orders, 4 days apart... but despatched on the same day (because of stock issue). Unlucky me, both arrived on the same day (maybe even together) so total accumulated to more than RM700, so i kena tax.

Using a normal shipping, i have to drive all the way to Sepang and spent almost half a day to kautim the necessity processes. So tax plus expenses like petrol, tolls & parking etc nearly RM100!!  doh.gif

Bro,

U shld use different names , even wif same address or better still another address..

of course the best is the courier... but look at how much you need to pay,  shakehead.gif  at the end of the day, defeat the purpose for shopping during black friday... but that's just me...   blush.gif
good idea! but frankly, i dont really need that... i hardly buy anything in a year except year end; BF that is. so for a shipment to overlap and arrived together probably happen one in 50 purchases maybe. but if u planned to buy lotsa titles all year long and being a frequent buyer from amazon (like u bro dirt) then this is the method to choose... of course if u did not choose courier nod.gif
*
Haha,

Totally agree wif u .. besides I have patience like a saint [ well.. almost ] mostly I ll buy n kinda forget abt it.. so even if takes some time, not much of an issue for me..
Just stating wat u can do, even thou' its kinda hassle - l mean u need to kacau ur friends and kin..

QUOTE(fadthil @ Dec 4 2014, 06:23 PM)
if u buy titles other than region A like from the UK, it wont hurt if u invest a bit on a region B player too...  icon_rolleyes.gif   at the end of the day, u wont have sleepless nights wondering if u hv bought the right one, or getting wrong information regarding region related issues etc. unless if u r like me (and i'm sure like bro maskedchan too), it doesn't really matter to us because we dont buy region B titles (because of a certain "issue") haha...  biggrin.gif
*
Haha,

Unfortunately, initial outlay for a rgn free player is not cheap - more than double for a run-of d-mill bdp is wat ard RM300 now..
I just got a pioneer bdp450 - cheapest well-rvwd player in de market .. of cos Oppo would be better but its so Xxxx

QUOTE(low98944 @ Dec 4 2014, 07:38 PM)
If your single order contain many parcels which ship at different time, it is possible when you check out your order, they will estimate and include deposit for import duty in total amount, but during actual shipping date, they will recalculate the possibility of incur import duty for each individual parcel when they ship.  If not kena, they won't actually charge you the deposit for import duty.  This is usually happen when your order contain lot of pre-order items.

So far I have experienced few times in both Amazon US and UK that they initially estimated zero or some import duty, when DHL delivered those parcels to me, they never charge me and Amazon also didn't charge me even afterward.  DHL never collect any tax from me even that particular parcel kena import duty.  But all of those parcel is not related to BDs.  tongue.gif
*
I am just stating facts .. they [AMZ] have our credit card particulars, so they can recharge it , if they want to..
I once received a reminder of supposedly Returned ttl - If I dont return it, l will be charged the cost .. they didnt do it in the end but still the thought of them being able to..

welcome back bro..long time no see you hangout in this thread..
so what did you get this year? upgrade your tv already?  whistling.gif
i understand your point but if they refund the import duties to you after charge..you going to lose some on exchange rate..
some people are very particular even single cent smile.gif
charging your card without your acknowledgment will consider as fraud..
so you can report to your bank about that if amazon doing this..
there shouldn't over charge from what you agree on the invoice..
*
Haha,

It has never come to tat [for me anyway..].. all l am stating is tat they[amz] hv your card particulars n they can recharge watever payments they deem fit .. Of cos then its your prerogative to pursue the matter wif ur bank abt de 'unauthorised' payment [n in most instances you would win] but l tink if you were to do tat, then u'd better be prepared to be banned by AMZ's network.. Oso in AMZ's defence, they will notify u first before they do tat n usually a well worded email can work wonders..

QUOTE(ranger2020 @ Dec 5 2014, 11:10 AM)
I see. Thanks. I guess that why US version BD is more expensive.
*

I dont tink its becos of tat.. [ at least l dont believe so, others might differ.. ] I do believe tat at de moment, HD is still not mainstream - more considered a premium product - at least in de US ... so u pay more..
I keep track of both US n UK , AMZ site prices n for pre-order or brand new ttls, they are abt de same - its just tat UK has cheaper shipping n xchange rates tat we find its cheaper -
Only in old ttls [more than 6 mths old] does UK seem cheaper especially if its boxsets.. I remember not long aftr release of Matrix n Bourne trilogy sets tat I found out tat AMZ US ones are so exp compared to UK ones - of cos packaging n bonus features not withstanding..

Basically,

Just like tat.. no pt to argue wif them.. I have only one instance in me having a rather bad experience wif a CS staff abt price difference and in the end , l still had to pay for de higher price cos he/she wouldnt budge after 4 emails..
Abt late arrivals - I tink l hv only one instance where de pckg literally went missing [ statistically , l tink less than .01% of all my online purchases - Courier Pckgs not withstanding..] most of the time , itll eventually crop up [sumtimes 3 mths ltr..]
