Harry Redknapp on Frank Lampard in 1996: He'll go all the way
The fan continues to argue with the West Ham boss as Lampard looks on, until Redknapp forces his point home, saying: “I’ll tell you now, you can sit here in front of all these people but I’ll tell you without any shadow of a doubt there will be no comparison with what Frank Lampard will achieve in football and what Scotty Canham will achieve in football.
“There is no favouritism and if anything I’m holding him back more.
“I’m telling you now — and I didn’t want to say this in front of him — but he will go right to the very top.
“He’s got everything that’s needed to become a top class midfield player.
“His attitude is first class, he’s got strength, he can play, he can pass it and he can score goals.
“I’m telling you, in my opinion I couldn’t be more strong how I feel about him.”
SCOTT CANHAM made 34 League appearances for Brentford before continuing his career in the lower divisions with Leyton Orient, Woking, Farnborough Town and Thurrock.
MATT HOLLAND did bounce back as Redknapp predicted. After three years at Bournemouth he enjoyed a successful career at Charlton and Ipswich, amassing over 550 League appearances. Holland also won 49 caps for the Republic of Ireland, scoring five times.
FRANK LAMPARD has won every major domestic honour with Chelsea plus the coveted Champions League last season. He has won three Premier League titles, the FA Cup four times, the League Cup twice and was named FWA Footballer of the Year in 2005. He has also won 93 caps for England, scoring 26 goals.
