I do not have the slightest idea about getting into universities in the States and I'd like to pursue a major in computer engineering / computer science.
I finished my STPM roughly a week ago and results won't be out until around March. I was hoping to get a scholarship to aid my studies there ( If i were to score 4A's for my stpm ) but first i'd have to take SATs and IELTS first.
Does anyone here have hands on experience with the SAT because i went to do some research at SAT's official website but it's so so confusing so i was hoping to get some help here! Are the subjects for SAT really hard and how many subjects am i supposed to take? And is gaining admission to universities in the United States really hard especially for international students?
My family is not very well off so i'm cashing in on my chances of getting a scholarship or maybe a not so good IT university in the States because i really do want to pursue my studies there.
Anyone studying / studied in the States please give me some advice on the admission process because it's really tedious and confusing!

You must take SAT , and also at least 2 SAT Subject Tests for US universities .
Since you've completed STPM , SAT Subject Tests like Physics , Chemistry , Math 2 shouldn't be a problem for you to get a perfect score (800) . Take not , some schools like Harvard requires 3 Subject Tests .
The main SAT , however is a bit challenging .
Landing a place in prestigious universities can be difficult , especially if you're aiming for top engineering schools like Caltech / MIT . They value not only your academic qualification but your overall performance in other areas as well . Most importantly , they want to see whether you're passionate or not in whatever you're pursuing .

Gaining acceptance into some universities aren't hard. It just depends on which school you want to go to. If you want to go into an ivy league, it's going to be extremely difficult since you're competing with the best of the best, not to mention it's insanely expensive for even local students. In general, the price for international students an extra 400 USD per unit (or more) on top of the current tuition you have to pay per semester. I would not advise applying unless you're certain you can pay everything. That would be your first problem in my opinion.
