Really stupid. The fares for school holidays are exorbitantly high, therefore the miles required also high. Give peasant discount better don't give.

The rate of redemption is different when doing cash and miles, compared to full redemption....even under the current revenue based system.....it's always more expensive doing cash and miles compared to full redemption....

check the cash you still have to pay....it's really rubbish system now....

i sham book one way lhr to kul in y, full fare 546 pounds...use miles MAX it allows is 32,900 miles, and still wants me to pay 254 pounds.....

with j class, it's 3272 quid, it allows only max 114,000 miles redemption, and still wants 1827 pounds in cold hard cash....

trying from kl.....it's rm2176, or 45k miles + RM106......for j its rm13,473 or 116,000miles + rm5728...

with krisflyer, it's 92,000 miles full redemption with RM150 cash.....

Those "bet" on Enrich are not meant to fly MAS.

Still nobody tried calling to redeem, check and see a what's the redemption rate like miles only vs points+miles?

just redeemed to bne....y unfortunately, as j redemption is out of this world....

called the call centre....no more full redemption website, only cash and miles....but "full redemption" can be done by sliding the redemption bar full to the right.....well, supposed to be....

cannot be done, as after sliding fully to the right, there is always some cash upfront over and above the taxes needed to pay....

the cs officer says that's not supposed to happen....asked me to take picture and forward to the centre....

redemption through call centre incurs an extra RM80 over online redemption.....

then, after changing name (redeeming for wife), cannot change enrich number....

after booking completed, can amend details, so when back into booking to change the enrich number....final result....now booking has TWO enrich numbers....

mh website/system is full of bugs.....

to top it all, redemption forces you to the basic pricing, no access to the promo price....which is rm800 higher....thus forcing you to use more miles in the revenue price system mh uses.....

It's actually still quite decent using Enrich on direct flights on Economy to cities which MAS flies to. You can get KL to  London / Tokyo / Melbourne for 50-60k Miles return. It's worthless for anything else.

And that's why the miles required also not too high.... although the revenue price they use to calculate the miles is not the discounted price....

MAS is going from bad to worse, I think their financial woes is causing them to make decisions that impact the quality and value for money.

Yes, and unfortunately I really hate transits esp when travelling with children and family.
I actually tried looking up SQ and although they charge for seat selection for cheapest fare class, it is free if there are children in the itinerary.
MAS really need to buck up.

I’m perfectly fine with MH’s mediocre product if they price consistently to their offerings. Some of their promo prices are dirt cheap if you ask me superb value for money.

If they start offering SQ level of service with SQ price I’m sure everyone will start complaining like all good Malaysians do.

I think MAS with recent price throwing strategy, they are on the right track.
For now, their major competitor is AirAsia, rather than SIA etc.
Their main routes are south east asia countries, and a few hot destinations.
No point for them targeting business class passenger for now, probably prioritize on those wanna go holiday (family, tour, affordable).
Cargo is another profitable business (that's why they limit 20kg for economy super promo).
As you mentioned, the equipment cost is there, promo will at least attract more passengers and hopefully it is enough to sustain the business.
I rather they go slow, minimize loss, rather than use OUR money to bail out.
Hopefully MAS will also look into lowering Enrich redemption, to attract more frequent flyers.

Seoul return J 66400 miles + rm300+ tax. I thought it was pretty good value.

Based in Singapore people can go for escapade redemption almost around 60+k. Tax a bit lower. No rm150 departure tax.

Not really hard to collect for Msian.
All CC* can redeem Enrich at least same rate or better rate.
I think only Grab can't redeem Enrich.
