QUOTE(tungkw @ Jul 7 2008, 01:05 AM) Thanks for your advice. I'll try it in my next os installation. 250W enough for E6600? Added on July 7, 2008, 1:25 am My slim casing only come with 250W PSU. E6600, G965 mobo, DVDRW, ram 1G x 2, capture card, HDD x 2 work well. Low noise too. Only that 2 x HDD generated a little bit more heat. Will add some ALU to reduce HDD heat later. |

QUOTE(boonhoong @ Jul 9 2008, 08:50 PM) 2nd Update on HTPC Project. 720p totally smooth? glad to hear that.1. Silverstone SG-01B Evolution 2. Coolermaster 350W PSU 3. Gigabyte MA78GM-S2H 4. Kingston 1Gb DDR2 RAM 800Mhz - X2 5. AMD 4850e cpu w/ stock HSF 6. WD 500Gb SATA HD Greenpower 7. Lite-On SATA DVD Writer I completed the installation of VISTA Home Premium on Monday with the latest CATALYST Drivers and klite mega codec pack. Installation was smooth with no hiccups whatsoever I am happy to report that I did not detect any stuttering or audio sync issues, and the picture quality blew me away. Definitely money well spent. pls do a test on 1080p sample. wanna ask...since ATI provide h264 decoding, does that mean i just install media player classic MPC (home cinema) and enable DXVA, and haali media splitter, i can play those h264 mkv video files? how about Dolby Digital AC-3 audio? do i need to install AC3filter to hear the sound? or just the audio driver with MPC will do? DTS how? same also? (planning to get the exact mobo and cpu This post has been edited by Skylinestar: Jul 9 2008, 09:24 PM |

IMO, any typican Vista Certified tv tuner should be good enough.
but the problem for me is searching for the BEST UHF/VHF antenna for watching free FTA channels. most rabbit years and yagi type antenna in the market sucks. |

QUOTE(ericmaxman @ Sep 19 2008, 08:52 PM) I downloaded some HD trailers. Surprisingly though, it was stated as 720p, but when I checked, it was less than 720. Somewhere like 1280x539 like that. I use KLM for my HD playback. No problems whatsoever. 720p not necessary means 720 vertical resolution.720p derives from 1280*720. as long as the movie has 1280 horizontal resolution, such as 1280*539, it is still regarded as 720p. |

QUOTE(prasys @ Oct 28 2008, 07:00 PM) You must understand that MKV file uses CPU rather then GPU. My PC fails to playback any 1080p *Pirate MKV Files* clearly as it needs much more powerful PC. I just use 720p as my TV isn't Full HD and I don't need 1080p (after all 720p is good enough). if the MKV is properly encoded, it can support DXVA too.Your HD TV is pure HD , meaning that your CPU has to output pixel by prefect which takes up more CPU usage. Graphics card isn't doing anything here. Trust me , just press alt+control+delete and notice your CPU usage when you're playing MKV Files |

QUOTE(karhoe @ Oct 31 2008, 10:02 PM) please read x264 for DXVA(a very long text) as long as the MKV is properly encoded, DXVA will do the magic. |

QUOTE(kalakatu @ Jan 1 2009, 12:56 PM) guys, ive been googling all around, and i found a numerous setting on playing the MKV files.. why do you need CoreAVC when you have 4850?and i tried those settings, which results sometimes ok, sometimes worst than before. basically im using a VLC to play them, but ive found that the integrated ffdshow does not utilize the dual core.. right now i am tweaking the Media Player Classic Home Cinema with CoreAVC so i hope u guys can share the most optimized setting here.. my hardware is like the following: Intel E7200 Biostar TP43-HP Gainward HD4850GS Kingston 2GBx2 Dell S2409W 24" 1920x1080 HD thx in advance and happy new year |
