just wondering, does anyone have problems downloading patches for Lineage II? Got the game from a friend in the US but the connection keeps getting terminated during the update.

i'm assuming that the game versions found in kl is the USA version unless otherwise?

if you already have the cd-key then no need to buy the box game cuz malaysia one still in chronicle 1 while now NA servers are all chronical 4.

just go www.lineage2.com and download the client.

If I'm not mistaken, if it's new updates, the server is probably overloaded with people downloading it... what I would usually do (or used to do) is wait a day or two before downloading.

Malaysia servers still in Chronicle 1? There are NO Malaysian Servers for Lineage 2. There are only 2 official places which you can play Lineage 2, which is the US and Korean servers.

Anyway, I hear C4 has expanded the map by 1/3, making it really huge. OMG... running from one end to the other would take 2 hours + now I guess.

Oh yea... I think you can get the download for Chronicle 4 from FilePlanet. Check out www.lineage2.com

i am not talking about malaysian server, i am talking about lineage 2 box they sell at place like pcgame.com.my, are chronicle 1 cd. i got it just for sake of cd-key to play the game.

and C4 already out almost a month now. so if still getting disconnection from update should be the cause by streamyx. anyway i didn't have that problem when i play.

last year, 512Mb dsl I'd get about 200-300ms. If I recall, there were some tools that help you check your ping to the L2 servers. Anyway, there are a few servers. Those days, the best were Bartz (first server), Lionna (I think.. cant remember the 2nd server, )Kain and so forth.

u get to explore new places ...meet new ppl/mobs .....
the harder the quest..... the bigger the satisfaction after u completed it

That said, the quest in L2 really has that 'quest' feel compared to most mmorpgs where a 'quest' is done/completed in 10 minutes. After all, 'quests' are often related to some sort of embarking on a journey in search of something or to achieve something. hehe

this game has great graphics, played it 2 years ago when c1. but its alot of grinding. but then again which mmo no grind.

personally i feel that wow has the best quests in an mmo, and usually the rewards are very good and satisfying.

DDO doesn't really have a grind.

I do agree that WoW's questing and rewards are much better than L2. L2's quest can be really tough & exhausting and their rewards are really 'dependant on luck'. I can remember running a quest which requires me to run from one end of the map to the other (almost running all around) to come to the end where the end boss (some death knight I think) had to be killed. This Death Knight is quite hard to kill and therefore, one has to get their clannies to help so no problem. To make things worse, you have to get in the final killing blow in order for the quest item to drop. geezz... that drop is also based on %. If the server calculates one kind then too bad for you as you'll get the lower end reward like some potion.

Crafting higher level equipments are also a pain in the arse. You need the materials such as blade heads (for swords) which drop from certain mobs (also % dependant), tonnes of other material (which can skyrocket the price due to it being a player based economy) and the 'recipe' for it.

Anyone remember how tough it was to change/upgrade profession/class? The amount of running and monsters you had to kill just to be a Knight from a Fighter. Necro/Sorc from a Mage, etc. I recall dying so much that I actually delevelled when I was doing my level 20 profession change.

For those that played L2 and WoW. You'd know how much harder it is to acquire a Pet and to maintain and train it. That said, L2 really isn't for the general gamer. Those who can't cut it won't make it in L2. Therefore, there's a lot of complains about L2. It's not that it's not a good game. It's just a much tougher game than the likes of WoW.

the profession change is nice

even nicer is the hatcling quest

all mmo is about finding frens/parties to trade/level up/do quest right

so i don think its pain in the arse since so many ppl are there in the server

oh.. I did my profession in Close Beta and Open Beta and retail. Those days, Kain server where I was at was pretty quiet. Not like right now, everywhere you'd find farmers.

anyway the level 40 job change is just insane. if you go do it without proper planning might take u 3~4 days to get it done =_=

omg you're right man.. the level 35, 37 & 39 trials and tests... I had to kill those tough mobs that were higher level than me which were impossible without certain spells which I hadn't gotten yet without my guild, I wouldn't have completed it. the journey itself was much longer than the level 19 profession change.

Those are what we call Quest. not some run around and killing stuff for 5-15 minutes and it's done stuff you'd find in most mmorpgs these days. Talk about hard core.

about the time card. you can actually use any ncsoft timecards for lineage2. like city of heroes or city of villains and such.. as long as they are ncsoft owned. been buying that for my play for the last 4 months

Wooo... I used to hang about there being low level 50s. The mobs are tough there. One time I joined a party to get to the top, they say the mobs right at the top (angels?) give good exp and are easier to kill... but as we reached (almost), we ran into enemy clans, a fight ensued, 85% of everyone died. especially with the mobs hitting on us as well.

I'm actually surprised to see that they are still Malaysians (and Singaporeans) playing L2. I would have thought they've gone and play WoW. Kudos to you guys.

yea ToI = scary place...
toI 10 where the angels are is a god place for mages coz they physical resist. a full mage grp can xp there easily w/o any stop. crazy...

now there are more dungeons to kill and map has expanded.
c5 is gonna b a huge extension again..
clan system overhauled. major change to pvp sytem.
lvl cap is 78 now .. 77-> 78 is such a b*tch..will make 75 feel like a baby eehhehehe

but yea not sure how long i can continue work-day night-play tactic.

I was a hot red head sorc.. low level 50+ only.. never really had the time to play when it went retail from open beta. was in Bartz then move to Kain in retail. Was thinking of trying out C4 but know that I wont have time.. and I'm gimped btw... still using mid-level C-grade weapon/equipment.

equipments are not hard to obtain in l2
since ur a mage u get into raid grps easily and they only need like 1 grp to make a raid happen. so that is solvable.
but if ur in kain...
thats a whole lot of things to worry abt >.<
botters / ebayers too many there.

bartz is one server which i would love to play if not for my current server.
and mages (even tho i despise them) rule almost over any class now since ncsoft is like giving them "special" attention...
when a mage 10 lvls lower can take on a melee...thats something wrong with the system..oh well.
hope u get into game man. tons of new things to try out.. subclass system etc etc

yea.. actually in every rpg game, the mages would usually rule over other classes... thats what i see from playing several mmorpgs.

ive seen the screenie. looks nice. but the game takes forever to download...

Some gaming magazine (PCGamer I think) mentioned Lineage 2... it says it is not similar to other MMORPGs, and that group battles and sieges really shine here. The average player would not get to enjoy the game fully becos of the cultural difference with Koreans. In Korea, although people have broadband at home, they prefer to play at cybercafes with their guild members. Whole cyber cafes can be taken by a guild playing and the leader communicates with everyone with a loudspeaker, giving instructions. Now imagine someone playing in his room alone

HDR is a graphics engine.. thingy.. makes the game look really fresh and beautiful :3 one of the main differences I noticed between C3 and C4.

The sieges are crazy, I was never high level enough to take part but you can find decent fraps videos everywhere. There's one really good vid of a Phantom Summoner helping his clan defend Aden Castle. So many people

Yea, the sieges are packed with people... half of them just folks watching. Back in C1, I snuck into the outer courts, pass the gates to see a guild take on castles but I think best castle sieges I've ever seen or played would still be in Shadowbane. I wonder what the new Chronicle changes would be? I hear they're changing the PvP system... sigh* I'm still low level... stucked at level51 when I left the game.

C5 preview (English)

They are trying to balance PVP ,every class is supposed to have an edge over at least one other class, so each class has its own 'natural enemy', etc. Not sure how effective this is because as usual buffers are not supposed to shine at solo PVP (I had a SWS and a BD, in 1v1 I usually got my ass handed back to me xD).

As usual though the additions I like most are the new armour (clan armour!)

oh.. just balance in PvP... meh. I thought they would have OPEN PvP by now..
my Sorc used to own almost any class... especially when 1 on 1. So far, I've defeated almost every class each time except for the Spellsinger.

I had a friend who played BD.. poor dude.. I used to own him even when he was 6 levels higher than my sorc. I'd lose out to a Spellsinger because of their fast cast... but I won against a couple because humans have more HP and they miscalculated... of course, it no fun Casting Sleep on your opponents and dotting them to 1HP before nuking 'em to death.

Best dagger imo for TH is as below :
A grade : soul separator
B grade : kris
C grade : crystal dagger w/ Might mortal (IF you can get a hold of it...VERY VERY RARE coz ncsoft decided to nerf daggers..)

i only know one raid boss tat drop tat.. and it only respawn every 24 hrs. for so long camping at that site..manage to encounter twice only..

dazey... those daggers need you to craft one, if I'm not mistaken... there are almost no drops for higher equipments above C right? Its ok.. I was level 51 and still stuck with a mid-grade C weapon.

hmmm as far as i know, daggers are better off with kris(153/91) compared to demon sword(170/99) jsut becoz of the focus SA.
if ur a dagger wielding class i think its best to go focus coz thats all they are about.
go around enemy,swiitch on VS, backstab n your specials...
bloosyhell backstab deals 6k dmg to a 76 BD!!!!
Think about it, u got high patk but no crit makes u useless as a dagger
so kris is > demon sword imo. i dunno if i am overlooking any other points, but for dagger dont see the patk.
even if u use a ng dagger ur specials dmg wont differ much.. only ur normal hit and slash will b less.. but who uses hit n slash in pvp.. its all specials for daggers

hmm between a kris and a bloody orchid(patk186,matk107).. i will choose bloody orchid, unless if you cant afford to use it to fight mobs. pvp wise, bloody orchid is better too (and also there is a pvp bonus attached with the enhancement, believe its 6% more damage).

SA -> special attribute, c grade weapons and above have this, where u give some money and a soul crystal(level 7,8-13) to enhance ur weapon

VS -> Vicious stance

BD -> Bladedancer / Spectral Dancer

patk -> Physical Attack attribute, the one u find if u press "Alt+T" in game

crit -> critical damage, as compared to the normal ones u deal to your opponent

imo -> in my opinion

ng -> non grade

Yes you need to buy the game box and a time card in order to play the game. If you are lucky u can get the trial code which they were offering at mmorpg.com.

i using streamyx in pj area got lowest 300ms ping.

so its at borderline between good and bad because normal everyday hunting you will barely feel it. once you go to castle siege u might as well lay on the floor until time pass...

you need to buy the game (box) now, they've taken off the download feature for L2. Only those like me that first bought it get the option of downloading the installer but I'd advise you to get the box. Downloading 2-3GB really sucks.

I believe best ping would be on Bartz server with 200+ms (those days) followed by Sieg then Kain 280ms - 300ms (or close to it).

oh i c lineage II can win wow ?

yes it does.but it REALLY depends what ip u r playing with.If i play with 60.x.x.x or 219.x.x.x i get very bad lag and freeze of character while xping. dont bother pvp with those IPs..
but with 218.x.x.x *touch wood* its still playable. I blame it mostly on packet losses. way too much of them, and if u ask tmnet about it.. they'll ask u to flushdns..sometimes i wonder whether they really know what they talking or just read out the manual in front of them.




yeap thats about right.lowest ping i ever got was 325ms. pretty good for small scale pvps and xping. but when go to castle sieges.. you might as well charge in, go get coffee and come back see ur character on siege ground drop dead.

rule of thumb is, WoW for carebears(shit scared gonna kena wallap nicely from the WoW fans >.<" ) and lineage II is for hardcore players. There is no relaxed server in the retail version so.. there will be long , and i mean REAL long hours of grinding to gain levels. No way near as short as WoW where u can get lvl 60 in like 3 weeks or so..

how much is the time card?

pcgame.com.my sells the time cards. Thats where i buy mine. Ask for any ncsoft cards, they are usually compatible for all their games, e.g,City of Heroes time card can be used for lineage2 and vice versa. Hope this helps.

prepaid game time card = 60 days of time u get to play the game. its the same as lineage 2 time card.

There was a promotional period when u could get the game for free for 15 days without paying for the account.This came with the box for promotional purposes only. After that period they dont give those out anymore. but u still have to buy the original game. It was around USD 50 when i bought it a few years ago.Try asking around pcgame.com.my. hopefully they have stock for the game cd key.

AMDG bags Lineage II

MANILA, Philippines--After almost a year of courtship, South Korean game development giant NCsoft and Philippine publisher Asian Media Development Group have closed a $5.5-M deal to distribute Lineage II not just in the Philippines, but across Southeast Asia.

The exclusive $5.5-million marketing and distribution deal with the South Korean company marks the first time that NCsoft has signed a non-subsidiary to distribute its game. It will also be the first time for AMDG to expand its operations outside the Philippines.

In an interview with hackenslash, AMDG chief operating officer Ronald Allan Aquino said that under the partnership, all NCsoft products, primarily Lineage II, would be solely distributed in the region, which will start in the Philippines, followed by Singapore and Malaysia.

"While we will distribute Lineage II in the Philippines, we'll be looking for partners who will distribute it in other countries," Aquino said.

Likewise, Aquino said they are preparing the buildup of their server facilities in the Philippines to host the local Lineage II players.

"We'll be launching the game in the next half of the year, simultaneously in the Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia," Aquino said.

Lineage II, including its predecessor Lineage I, is a major success among the massively online game triple-A titles that have come out of South Korea, with an estimated 14 million subscribers globally. It is currently being played in Taiwan, Japan, China, Thailand, and the United States, among others.

On the other hand, AMDG is a major distributor of PC games in the Philippines, particularly those published by Vivendi Universal.

Among the titles AMDG carries are Half-Life 1 and 2, Counter-Strike, StarCraft, Warcraft and Guild Wars, the popular online game developed by ArenaNet and published by NCsoft.

there's plenty of f2p games better than this game. no offense to l2 fans, i personally liked the game last time. but there's too many f2p games right now. should be better if they made it f2p itemmall style, thats much more popular mmorpg trend here in malaysia.

Botting issues... last i played the bots is still the same no changes but private servers going down very badly now.. which is a good sign.

Yes, I'm a Filipino, but then as I've said, I'm not aware of that situation coz I always prefer joining an English-speaking and/or international guild (or start my own) than join or create a Filipino-only guild.

i can attest to that when it comes to Gunbound, Rakion, O2Jam, Audition, Granado Espada, Mu Online. It's hard to play with the Philippinos, they must launch it all at the same time and there must be only one lineage ][ south-east asia website for it to be fair, and we will play there. Otherwise, we will play on private servers or other MMOs.

Tantra Online is one of it. English speaking players is pretty little there and everytime i ask for party.. someone sure ask me " Party po " means Party plz in tagalog. When i reply in english they didnt do the same, they reply in own language. Used to happen to Brazilian players too back in year 2005 but they changed now
