So I've been trying to burn in more hours on the AD2000x as it still looks and sounds like a new headphone. There's another unit of AD2000x in the store which has more burn in hour as I can notice the difference but the earcups of that one are a bit dampen. I've never listened to AD2000 before, so I can't really do a write up on comparing it with AD2000x. Please note that my primary headphone is W1000, and my setup is heavily coloured on midrange, which has eliminated any sibilance.
Here goes my brief impression: The moment I plugged it into my setup(D6->Yammy), I just couldn't stop listening to music. It is lovely and musical. I couldn't find any word to describe the sound signature and not able to pinpoint the 'strongpoint' or the 'emphasis' of this headphone. I can say it is a quite neutral headphone, with a bit of coloration on midrange. The midrange is bodied and full. But the high is kinda disappointing for my liking, I find it a bit cold and sometimes harsh. Bass? I can survive with W1000, surely AD2000x has better bass in terms of quantity and quality. For vocal, I would go back to W1000 anytime. Instrument separation is good, wide soundstage. Suitable cans for groove jazz, light jazz, orchestra and OST! It is a fast and responsive headphone, but not thin sounding. In fact, the sound is quite full and bodied. My Yammy is a slow amp, so I can't really test the headphone on rock songs. But one thing for sure, AD2000x shines with Jpop too. Final thought- It's a mixed feeling. I like the headphone, it really sings, but I am a bit disappointed with the sound. Maybe I have put the wrong expectation on this headphone. Some quick snaps. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Cheers! |

QUOTE(sheenho @ Jan 7 2014, 04:24 PM) Thanks bro. Covering up a tube amp helps, especially in an air-conditioned room. Not really sure about solid state where cooling = better power Yup, I always cover the amp with cloth to keep it warm. Usually it sounds better after at least an hour of warming up(in my case). |
