Bro,

Why are you so angry???  sad.gif
I'm asking those question because i want to buy a PSU from u, i need to clear all my doubt before i proceed to buy a PSU from you.  sweat.gif
Since you are the owner of the company and i think you are the  most suitable person to answer my question.  wink.gif

Just curious, no offense.

If you really just wanna buy a psu, use pm or comment in trade zone instead of here.
Look at your questions, it just hilarious to be offensive to any seller imo.

Er guys, wondering is it save to pick up a one years old FPS Hexa 500w PSU to power a rig with i5-2500 plus HD 7770? Kinda tight in budget.

Is it true PSU efficiency shrunk every year of usage?

As long as the seller provides reasonable amount of time of personal warranty or receipt then should be ok.
A new one only cost around RM149.
Yup, PSU degrades little by little. If it has better quality components built then would be slower in degrade.

Rosewill look nice too. But it is hard to find seller in penang. Need to order from garage sales. I prefer buy at hikari shop, later if got anything easy to find her. Maybe next time i try rosewill. Thx for suggestion btw.

new fsp aurum still looking good overall from the review, but not as good as other 80+ gold rated. as this cheaper price point i guess there's no much to complain about imo.

In fact, 3 of them are good psu imo. btw what's your usage anyway?

i also very suspicious why gold rated psu quite cheap compare to other gold rated psu. but i guess at my pc level, 80+ bronze certified is more than enough.

for my pc usage, you can read here.

Yea, a true power 500w is more than enough for your current setup.
Any of the above PSU u listed is decent for powering up a high-end GPU plus some oc-ing without problem.

since this is a PSU thread.. i want to ask a question
my PSU is CORSAIR AX1200I
owned it +- 1 year
today i completed my build
during setting up my pc(i mean installing driver and bla bla bla, i accidently touched my GPU heatsink and i feel electric shock. To confirm this i bought a test pen to check if the current is there. The buzzing sound from the PSU is loud and clear. I got 4 fan inside my case and still hear the buzzing of my PSU.
some people say buzzing sound is normal, but the current leak is abnormal i think..

here some pic i took

need advice..

thanks

Current leak is indeed abnormal, strongly suggest u stop using that PSU now. It may further damage your other components with that current leakage throughout any metal contact. I suspect there's something went wrong with the grounding terminal inside the PSU or perhaps current portection/sensor spoiled.
Small buzzing that happen occasionally is normal during low load, pc start up or shutdown. But loud is surely something wrong sweat.gif .

Very questionable topic and u guys point it out smile.gif .
This review is for the 400W, not sure how about the 500 and 600W units from HX series.
Similar case like FSP Hexa 400W which having bad review, while 500W is still a decent unit hmm.gif .

Edit: the best bet is try to gather lowyat users' feedback about SF HX500W and 600W to see the defective, broken rate imo. Since the price tag significantly lower than other brands with 80+ gold rating.

Marketing strategy is really scary.
New product on the first batch are always good overall, but the afterward reproduction most company tends to find cheaper alternatives (manufacturer or components) to get the similar performance while cut cost of production to gain more profits from the previous reputation made on the models.

Not only PSU, other products as well.
Been away from pc hardware for quite a few months, still a lot to learn from u guys notworthy.gif .

Off Topic: Get addicted into mechanical keyboard too deep recently sweat.gif .

QUOTE(goldfries @ Dec 27 2013, 11:36 AM)
interestingly a lot of people also highlighted FSP Hexa 500w and all for gaming but from my personal test, it didn't handle well when I run an R9 280X on full load for long period while my Corsair CX500 and Corsair VS550 could do it with no issue at all.

I'm going to throw the same test on my FSP Hexa units again soon. Since I have 2 units of it, I'll get to see whether it's the same across multiple products.
*
280X is consuming more power since it is high-end GPu or rebranded 7970ghz. FSP Hexa 500w still an entry budget PSU suitable for low to mid-end GPU that doesn't consume much power.
Thou, ppl tends to suggest rig spec by pairing it with higher end gpu that i often try to avoid to be safe than sorry.

Not exactly...  Though the fact is SF tries to fragment their product range with multiple names can be very deceiving...
The unit in concern by JustForFun is actually the Golden Green/Ice mountain... and the unit has a GX suffix to it, which suggest a lower cost unit...
Technically SF didn't cheat customers, though they should be blamed for not correctly naming their product.

Even the Golden Green series can mean a lot of power supplies in the SF lineup:

Yup, too bad we don't much quality and cheap choice on <500W units...
*
There's some high quality psu that are 500w or less than 500w. but the price just make most ppl don't wanna spent for it.
example: seasonic 80+ gold/platinum fanless psu.
Easily cost more than rm400 already brows.gif .

to avoid diminish the brand reputation mah..

Nah, even reputable brands do have high defective / failure on some models. That's normal, hence we always try figure what models to avoid buying.
