QUOTE(iyz96 @ Nov 7 2014, 09:25 PM)
So both HX750i and HX850i would do the job?
Haha ive told him that..

He is so fussy that he is confused about the efficiency of both power supply..
You know that a power supply is at its best at >50% load..
So he is afraid that if he buy the HX850i now, he will waste on his electrical bill before getting a second GTX 970..
And if its the HX750i, he is afraid of not enough power in the future..

Since you said that both also can, ill tell him that again
Haha but this time its the Sifu that taught me about power supply which is TristanX

Thanks tristan!

Thanks a lot!

Bleh, he's paranoid. Just buy it and use.

Like TristanX said.. the 750W would be enough.

And PSUs aren't only efficient at 50%+ load anymore.  Now that 99% of the (quality) PSUs out there use a resonant LLC topology, the efficiency is fairly flat line across all loads.

FSP Hexa+ 550W or Antec VP 500W ? Both are around the same price but I'm not sure about other specifications.

Do you plan to upgrade your graphic card to R9 280 or higher?

does FSP Hexa+ 550W  goes well with r9 280x guys?
*
Not recommended. That is a low grade power supply. Recommended to go with at least mid grade PSU like Seasonic S12 or M12.

well how about corsair vs series vs550/650 one?
*
Still a low grade power supply. It has very low ripple and noise though.

How 'boutT hermaltake Smart Series or Cooler Master G550M?
*
The CPU side of the APU is absolute crap once you install a graphic card. Even i3 with graphic card could make it look stupid.

For the love of god, G550M is very close to Seasonic M12 II 520W for the price. Seasonic blows it away.

heck, my last PC was a Pentium I.

For your information

i3-4150 (4330 has only better built-in GPU) vs A8-6600K:

Ignore processor graphics part since you gonna install graphic card.

Hi, got question regarding good psu. As suggested by sifus here, best psu for my rig is seasonic x650. But due to some special reason, i need to find corsair psu that have same or better quality. The question is, is corsair ax650 good enough?

Can't find it on corsair website thou. But available on viewnet pricelist.
*
Yes, Corsair AX650 is good. It is Seasonic built slapped with Corsair label anyway.

hi guys, i plan on upgrading my graphics card very soon, most likely b4 gst, and was wondering if my current psu have enough juice to handle the new card?

the plan is to get a gtx970/980(most likely leadtek, budget is under 2k). my current rig setup basic info is as follows:

-silverstone strider 650w gold
-leadtek gtx670
-i5, 16gb ram, and 2 internal hdd inside, as well as some fans(5).
-dvdrom
-gigabyte mb, forgot the exact model name...

these are the stuff that i can think of using power...
*
Piece of cake. Maxwell is not power hungry.

Hello,

Which is better between Odin Pro 550w (GE-M550A-D1) and FSP Hexa+ 550w 80 Plus (H2-550)?
Is there anything better for budget less than RM170?
I only need to power a low end PC.

Thanks.
*
Odin is better. It has 100% Japanese caps inside.

Antec vp500 have enough juice to power r9 290?
*
Not recommended. That is low grade 500W PSU. 550W or better mid grade PSU recommended for R9 290.

http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/radeo...chmarks,10.html

Go for Seasonic S12 II 620W at RM299, or M12 II Evo 620W at RM359.

GTX970 is the best you can get for that PSU.

i planning to change my psu in order to power R9 290 tri-X or reference cooler due to price/performance ratio for used set.
here are the PSU in my mind right now :
1. FSP Hexa+ 550W (12V - 36A - 432W)
2. Cooler Master Thunder M 520W (12V - 40A - 480W) by CWT *cannot find any review
3. Gigabyte Odin Pro 550W ( 12V - 41A - 492W) by CWT

which is better to power single R9 290?
*
Odin is 100% Japanese caps. It should be able to take more punishments from R9 290. I still recommend 600W or better for R9 290 though.

Nope. It's Seasonic S12 II 620W.

Hello

Just curious to know what happens if your PSU is underpowered to handle the current GPU?

Will it risk burning? Will auto shutdown occur?

Recently purchased MSI GTX970 Tiger running with Coolermaster B500 W. Seems to be running on borderline 500W. Am I running risk here?
*
•Bad 3D performance
•Crashing games
•Spontaneous reset or imminent shutdown of the PC
•Freezing during gameplay
•PSU overload can cause it to break down

B500 has 408W on +12V rail. It should run fine

Hey guys, i have a prebuild bought computer by Dell.
The specs are here. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documen...&sw_lang=#N1297

I want to upgrade my graphic cards to r9 270 and it require a 6 pin cable so i have to change the power supply too. Any recommendations for power supply? Can i switch the power supply since it's prebuild.

Your link sends me to HP website. Your computer is Dell. Is the HP spec accurate?
