Can anyone tell me what's the CAS latency for the original 4GB 1600 DDR3 ram of a Y580?

I wish the Y580 came with more space to put a second drive, so I can have both a HDD and SSD. Their option of using a small SSD isn't worth it

*eh, I can buy a mSATA SSD from outside and use as standalone dive right? First time I asked the guy, he said the 32gb SSD is only for a speed boost, not as a standalone drive

any mSATA can be used as cache or standalone drive.
Putting the Drive mode from ACHI to Raid will enable the caching method.

imo, for the SSD solution in Y580, i recommends using mSATA instead of transfering your harddisk to caddy.

Quite some customer walk into my shop buying Y580 but with their own caddy bay bought at forum.
The built of the caddy directly affect the slotting which will leave out extra space that the whole caddy is quite "Koyang"

Mechanical harddrive is very sensitive of vibration especially when you're working with your unit.

So I am actually confused by you guys now. Say I want to move my mech HDD to my ODD and replace my mech HDD with a mSata or SSD. Will this be an issue?

Hmmm... since the SLI is using the ODD slot... i was thinking of using mSATA since il need huge space to install games n etc.

240GB 2.5" SSD seems nice, but way too expensive. So i thought of using mSATA instead and leave the 500GB as game storage.

I replaced the hdd with a ssd in my y580, but found out the ssd temperature is rather higher than the temperature of hdd before.
Is it normal?

Sales people are arrogant, not helpful and stupid. I went to outlets there to look for internal Blu-Ray driver and 90% of outlets are so arrogant, I wonder who i actually the customer???

I thought i7 has its idle state with less power usage. According to my research, the graphic card switching is based on the task you do and system will eventually evaluate whether it needs to use advanced graphic power or not.

I don't quite like the way y580 dissipate the heat though. Unlike Y500 which has a huge ventilation at btm. Or maybe it has seperate ventilation for harddisk and graphic card. That's why they said Y580 is not considered a gaming laptop compare with Asus G series.

looking at the temperatures, I dont even feel like OC... thinking to downclock the CPU actually... XD
I think the extra exhaust will help actually... though I'm not 100% sure how the air flow going to be... perhaps Lenovo already R&D the airflow so that it won't create vortex or anything... 

though, I wonder if we can actually run "Dust Remover" while playing games...

mine come with mSata 16GB, this is the msata model SanDisk U100 Solid State Drive
this is the msata spec.

so i can use the Lenovo OneKey recovery to make a image to install on the ssd or any other way for me to do that?

just now when i select the odd the path for the recovery  file somehow become to C:/temp, is that normal?
