I thought 550M SLI has better performance than 560m, right? And Y500 body is mostly metal instead of plastic. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I check the review. Those heavy games can run under ultra setting. ( like battlefield 3, crysis ). For those Y580 users, I wanna ask, is it really playable when the fps is around 30+? Cause I personally do feel the screen is a bit jerky when the fps is 30+ compare with fps 40+
*
its 660m.... anyway, it depends actually... since some games got problem with SLI config....

Wow. I'm really outdated, now I'm still using Dell 1420 with 8400gs graphic card!! Its around 5 years with me already.
I checked the review, found out that the heat is quite severe for y580 especially on palm location. Am I correct?
*
well, for me, it is a bit warm when playing games, but i don't think it that severe in my opinion

cool thread  rclxms.gif

anyone know how much the price for this ?

CPU: 3rd generation Intel® Core™ i7-3610QM processor (2.30GHz up to 3.30GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0, 6MB L3 Cache)
15.6" WLED FHD
1TB SATA HDD (5400rpm)
NIVIDIA GeForce GTX660M 2GB DDR5
8GB DDR3 SDRAM
2.8kg
DVD-SM: BluRay Combo

im quite confuse because some said it is below rm3k and this one i saw on the lenovo malaysia website for
(RM) : 3,599  rclxub.gif
*
the one below 3k is w/o bluray and only 500gb hdd....
but the price listed on lenovo website is just official pricing... you can get a bit cheaper from LYN seller here... if they still carry this model

Dear all users of y480/y580,

i need some your information about both of y480 and 580. until now is it got any problem with your lappy? i heard some issue from wifi or signal, some from lcd, some from temperature so high...is it normally with y480/580? how high temperature in your lappy? how heavy 480 and 580 compare with asus G50? the screen of 480 is it good ? and any issue of both 480 and 580?

last ^^, any seller are you recommend?

Thanks all ^^!!
*
stock y580 wifi adapter is lousy one... max speed only 72Mbps.. besides, the bios somehow detect the wifi adapter... so, if wanna change, you might need to flash to custom bios (later i'll update front page with this info... later)
the temp not that high imho.... it's kinda normal temp when you doing daily stuff or gaming.... don't expect very uber cool temp when doing heavy load on your laptop tongue.gif

QUOTE(Chartry @ Dec 11 2012, 07:11 PM)
I'm very interested in buying this laptop. I saw someone selling US unit with 1 year international warranty. The price is about 15% cheaper. Worth it? or should i go with local set?
*
QUOTE(liptonpc @ Dec 11 2012, 07:12 PM)
have same question with u #_#....the price is quite cheaper but only got 1 year. #_#
*
well, if you're really think extra warranty is not needed & yakin can take care of your laptop well probably can get from him... but i heard that there might be some problem in claiming warranty ... i'm not sure about warranty stuff since i never claimed any warranty on any of my devices that i owned. laugh.gif

I can say it is quite heavy. But, most of the time I kinda use it as a desktop replacement. I don't carry it...but if I must..putting it in the new Targus 15.6” Revolution Laptop Backpack XL, makes me feel more comfortable and less stress on my shoulders.

Here's the pic of the bag.

user posted image

Actually, the bag that comes with the laptop quite lousy one, quite thin and less cushion for absorbing the impact. That's why I bought the Targus backpack.
*
how much grabbed that bag? looks a bit nicer than my targus metro

hi all,
in y480 and y580 got how many slot for storage? can put 2 or just 1 hdd only? and i see the hdd between gpu and cpu....so get any issue about overheating of hdd yet (for both 480 and 580)?
thanks
*
got 2 SATA slot... 1 SATA-III and 1 SATA-II..... most spec list HDD at SATA-III and ODD at SATA-II, but many of us who opt to use SSD put SSD at SATA-III while removing ODD and put HDD at SATA-II slot with caddy...
honestly, i still haven't seen ppl actually said that their HDD really overheat... laugh.gif

some hdd model can push to 60 degree....
but in my opinion, reaching max temp =/= overheat

Added on December 12, 2012, 10:14 ambut yeah, better move HDD to ODD spot if you're into heavy gaming...

hmm i see, then dual booting is a workable idea after all. i was worried if they just use the old key then no way i can dual boot unless buy a new win7.

by the way guys, we should put some links in the first few posts the TS reserved.. especially links to drivers for win7 & win8, tips & tricks in using the lappy etc.

what do you guys think?
*
there are links & stuff from the previous thread... but right now i'm kinda busy to edit the front pages.. the earliest i'll start on it would be this weekend, since winter break starts next week
