Man, I wanted to make my first smartphone jump to the Lumia 620. But these last few post sure is making me doubt myself. Uhm,may I ask what should I check when testing the phone out? Other than the multi-touch that is.

Off-Topic - Please don't take this as an insult, but any chance you guys would've gone for some other phone at the same price range? any recs please?

Thanks.

my personal opinion. the only thing lacking with WP8 is the variety of apps. of coz you still have your very 'basic' apps like FB, Twitter, 4square and Angry Birds but i think that's about it.

you might find yourself looking at your friend's iP or Androids when they're playing Clash of Clans, Bejeweled Blitz, Candy Crush, Temple Run, Instagram and etc.

UI wise, it's the most sexy thing you'll ever see, for now.

go for it if you're not an app/game person else....

Honestly, like I said, this would be my first smartphone. So, I haven't really been exposed to apps and such thus I can't really put a benchmark on what to expect. The nearest thing to a smartphone experience that I had was on the Ipad. Even that I use for only surfing, youtube, scheduling appointments and nothing else.

Heh,I'm more of the old-school type. Very hard for me to comprehend paying a lot for a phone when all I really want is just calling and SMS'ing. Hahaha, I even started my search looking for smartphones with buttons. But times are changing, thats why I'm making this experimental leap.

Oh,one more question though. Is the OS newbie friendly?

Wait until you get addicted to gaming and the apps haha.

As for the user friendly part. Every new thing needs time to get used to. But if you know how to operate an iPad there's no problem la. Easy peasy.

Really, WP still a not perfect OS, or i should say no perfect OS in this world?

Things that amazed me & my frends
~ GPS very very very fast
~ A perfect screen( for me )
~ Smooth OS

Things that annoyed me
~ Always switch on while charging althought I had switched off ( who can solve this ??)
*
My suggestion : switch on flight mode, so phone is on also no prob, wont ring or watsoever.

QUOTE(dgboy @ Feb 22 2013, 07:02 AM)
I don't need perfection, yet I expect basic convenience to use out of the box.

We need to install app like Easy Connect or Toggle to easily on/off WiFi, Bluetooth, etc.
*
Yes, easy connect is a must thumbup.gif

But anyone know how to pin "location" (gps satelite on off) on start ? Any apps for that ?

Then i guess this phone will suits u well smile.gif

Apps variety is not everyones need, but basic apps is there, so nothing to worry about. With this price u only can get a laggy android phone, since u dont need tons of apps, 620 is perfect for u.

620 is perfect for a outdoor person, under bright sunlight the screen still clear like indoor, first time i see a phone can performance like this.

for those having multi touch problem, can you guys plug in one end of the charging cable to the phone and hold the other end with your fingers?

It means you're not charging the phone. Is the multi touch working? Some has reported that the multi touch works if you do that.

If more people confirms this, then it can be concluded that the hardware is faulty and this is not something that a software update could fix.

EDIT:
This appears to be a widespread problem. Some people has reported that it happens on every single 620 that he can lay his hands on.

This means that this is almost certainly a design flaw or a manufacturing defect.
