Nexus Store/Hotspot should say thanks to you, bro.  thumbup.gif

It'sa circulating cycle of benefit: I break the news, you guys come in and purchase, the Nexus Store/Hotspot sees more reason to bring in Nexus related devices because of the support, I break the news, etc.The cycle goes on. The benefits reaped together. nod.gif

Good news.

I've negotiated a way for outstation potential buyers residing outside KL who cant come over to the Nexus Store/Hotspot to do the preorder personally to text your preorder request via SMS.

Please do it as per this format:

QUOTE
SMS header: Nexus 4 Preorder
Name:
Phone number:
Email address:
Quantity:
Text/SMS to this number:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Text/SMS only, DO NOT CALL, otherwise this privilege will be revoked

Be advised that it is still better to proceed personally to the Nexus Store/Hotspot to confirm and see where your number is, in line at the main master list. Walk-in buyers doing preorder in person, to the Nexus Store/Hotspot, retain this privilege.

Again, I repeat,

Text/SMS only, DO NOT CALL, otherwise this privilege will be revoked. Also, do not make chat conversational messages at that number, you will not be entertained, or that privilege again will be revoked.

Please be advised.

That means we have to go exchange the sim card?
Is it the same as sim used in iPhone 5?

Yes bingo

The Nexus 4 uses microSim, iPhone 5 uses nanoSim. They are not the same.

Also, the date, January 7th/8th will also be DiGi's own launching of the Nexus 4. Expect to the news/pricing updated on DiGi's website between new year's day right up to January 7th.

So, two sources to get your Nexus 4, DiGi for subsidised model, The Nexus Store/Hotspot in LYP for outright model.

That number is not me.

As for all these questions whether your SMS received or preorder entered in your name or not, the only way to be sure is to personally go to that Store and check yourself. Please be mindful that there is a human being behind that number and like other human being, patience has its limits.

DO NOT start asking the person behind that number about all these little queries. Too many queries and he may revert back to in-store preorder only.

Also let's not spam this thread with posts about the preorder event alone. I'm sure the others who already have their Nexus 4 wanna discuss about their experience with their own unit and talk about other related issues and discussions about the phone besides the preorders. Things like custom ROM developments, tips and tweaks, etc.

Question: If pre-order, from Nexus Store or the "SMS option" for outstation customers, how much deposit need to pay?
*
No deposit. Just to secure your place in line. Placing deposits designates a bonding agreement between you and the provider, and this sometimes can be abused by the buyer to force themselves into getting a unit under the pretext of " hey I made partial payment, I'm entitled for one". This way, both party knows what they're getting at: the provider does not and have not promised anything other than your place in line in a preorder list, and the buyer cannot and will not be able to abuse the provider with regard of guarantee-ing a unit. No monetary transactions made, no promises given either. Fair and square.

Because I am not in Town, around the launch date.... even if I am on the pre-order list, I am NOT guaranteed a unit right?

Will they hold for me? Or still first come first serve?
*
The latter. Since no money exchange hands, it's not fair holding a unit while others in line are waiting for you to get back in town. Responsibility lies on the buyer to get back to provider on receipt of news of the release.

Not gonna post how many units they will get, the Nexus Store/Hotspot has a certain figure in mind, and being promised to them on release date. As of the writing of this post, if circumstances has not changed, there's enough for everyone. If they are not allocated enough units, that's when it gets tricky, and that list comes into play along with first come first serve basis.

This will be the hint I can give as I am N4 fan too.

N4 arrived in Malaysia. All exclusively for Digi only. Pre-order from Digi opens next week. Official launch is 2nd week Jan. What you see in the market who selling, Low Yat or Tech Armory, total BS to me that the stock is from LG Malaysia. They might be parallel importer. I read their thread they said their stock is from LG Malaysia. Personally I cross checked with LG Malaysia - there is no arrangement for the shop in Low Yat or Tech Armory so careful on that unless they are Digi Gold or Platinum dealers then they will get their stock from Digi not LG Malaysia.

My 2 cents, do not pre-order with whoever claim they have stock. Wait till official news from Digi or LG Malaysia themselves.

Peace!
*
Info from my side: DiGi has cornered a sizable amount of Nexus 4 for the launch. They are betting heavily on this as they've captured exclusivity on the phone, they'll be the only telco selling this phone, Maxis and Celcom will not be selling it. From that amount (no exact figure, but numbering in thousands), the Nexus Store/Hotspot has been allocated stock as well (but numbering in hundreds) from this, provided that the launch is a go on that date I've mentioned. The stock IS already at the distribution warehouse, waiting for the green light for the launch.

The stock situation is the wild card here. DiGi holds all the cards, and it's up to them to release stock as appropriate, including to the Nexus Store/Hotspot. Common sense would dictate that if you really want to be safe and almost guaranteed a unit, go buy from DiGi, but common sense also will dictate, that DiGi will not be selling outright, but will be tying subsidised purchase with a plan.

That is also the reason why the Nexus Store/Hotspot is NOT taking any deposit for the preorder, just your particulars. They cannot guarantee stocks will be available for them, or if available, how many will be allocated or enough for those in the preorder list. I would assume that if anyone confident enough to take money for a confirmation of purchase, he's be confident enough to produce result, a.k.a guarantee a unit.

There are two entities who are in the know on the situation of the launch and stock level, DiGi will determine the launch date, and SiS as the physical distributor moving the stock into the country. You are absolutely right about LG being out of the loop with regards to this launch, they have no hand in this.

Posting this to assuage the incoming posts I'm sure I'm gonna get, about those worried about the launch dates/stock level/price etc.

If it's named that. So far it's still codenamed Yuga/Odin.

2013 will be the year of 1080p Android phones. HTC DROID DNA/Butterfly/J and M7, ZTE Nubia Z5 and Grand S, Oppo Find 5, and Sony Yuga/Odin. I'll only go up to 5" MAX for a phone to put on my face, otherwise it'll look comical. Which is the reason why I didn't bother putting the frankenstein Huawei Ascend Mate 6.1" 1080p in the list, coz it looks like you're talking to a paper notepad stuck to your cheek when you're talking on it. tongue.gif

It's the styling and UI design that'll differentiate between all these 1080p. I prefer my DNA because of that particular reason. wink.gif

how's your experience messing around with DNA? nice?  drool.gif  drool.gif

so, you're getting n4 too?

OT: The age of lagless Android device on Full HD 1080p is here. This thing eats anything I throw at it without a hint of slowdown. Text look like a picture already. I can paste my eyeball right next to the screen and still not see any pixels.

As for N4, I'm considering. I had a short testdrive a while back and while it is smooth and that stock Android UI is so desirable, I like my DNA screen and styling better. Still, that prospect of fooling around with tons of custom ROMs on the N4 is so seductive. drool.gif

the droid DNA is from HTC right?  good luck with the updates mate.  i'm fed up with their BS of not giving us DHD owners ICS updates, sticking with Nexus from now onwards.
*
OT: I'll just switch between this and the N4. No biggie. And then there's the custom ROM side of things. I see HTC of today, different than the HTC of the Desire/Desire HD days, they're more open to listening to their consumer and allowing bootloader unlocking openly via http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader. I was stung similarly last time, my last HTC was HTC Desire and it was utter bollocks, but I kept an open mind. I can start rooting if I like on my DNA, but since Google Play on my DNA is US-based, and with VPN, I have access to all my apps and app updates. I did not even need to root, and maintain the stock ROM with that striking DROID menacing UI look. It's an instant eye-catcher!

Why not? As a...errm, 4th phone? tongue.gif Can always keep the DNA pristine, and do all the dirty work on the N4. After all. we are encouraged to experiment on the open-sourceness of Google's OS by customization and tweaks right? wink.gif

It happens and many cases of it in the early stage of its release, maybe it's really a cheaper glass than ip4/4s laugh.gif

Temperature change maybe causing the glass to crack because our hand has a higher temperature than surrounding.
Imagine surrounding temperature 10 degree, then our hand 30+++ degree celcius touches it laugh.gif Just my rubbish theory whistling.gif

I was about to refute that "rubbish theory" until I came to this:-

http://www.droid-life.com/2012/11/26/nexus...h-a-glass-back/

QUOTE
But back to these two cracked backs – both of which cracked without a drop. Let me say that again – both the Optimus G and Nexus 4 cracked in my possession without ever dropping them. You know what did it? Setting them down gently onto my room temperature stone countertop. That’s it. The temperature change after it went from my warm hand to a room temperature countertop was apparently enough to split both devices’ glass backs almost directly down the middle. To think, that deciding whether or not my device is going to crack just by laying it down gently, is something my mind doesn’t even want to entertain. But that’s where I’ll be should I decide that I want a Nexus 4 that no longer looks this way.

It’s not just me, either. Take a tour through your various Android forums and you’ll find reports left and right of scratches and cracks. Most of these reports also include lines like “I don’t know how it happened, I’ve been super careful with it” and “I pulled it out of my pocket and noticed a crack.”
.......damn.

It doesn't have to be about local weather. The guy even mentioned cases of folks taking it out of pockets and saw cracks already. Your workplace can be cold as hell and when you step into the cold office from Malaysian hot weather, or into any air conditioned environment, and *crack*!

You noticed that too, eh? I thought I was imagining things. Shame, we could've have a more productive community than members spamming one-liners.

Even if its a one -liner, at least post one-liners with content related to the thread at hand.

Are these people under age minors or kids still in school? No wonder I don't get responses when posting, maybe I need to start speaking on their level of comprehension.
