Just placed an order for a new toy today. Its an end of life item though, so getting it cheap smile.gif

I think it's a loaded Xserve RAID instead. Xserve, in general only weight <20Kg.

Can't wait to see a Mac server setup here. Although I did saw some at client's place, but those are strictly "no camera".

Yup, Xserve RAID 14x500GB SATA, complete with applecare + the FC controller card too

As for the price, let's just say that its a good enough price that I didn't even think twice about it.

Although I'm probably gonna ask myself what the heck I'm gonna do with it later though.. Most likely cart it to over to me office after playing with it for a few weeks.

crap... that's close to 7TB of storage depending on how you RAID them.... doing some serious hosting...?

wish i had a stack of xserves for some serious DCs... but what the heck, Apple don't offer good choices of GC for GPGPU doesn't it...

btw, Intel-based or PowerPC...?

The last Xserve RAID was in G4/G5 era.
Are you sure your unit came with SATA bus controller?
If I recall correctly they should be U-ATA.
