Hi All,

I"m fairly new to Unit Trusts and wish to look into investing in them, if indeed it provides good return. I was told they are better than EPF and heard some agents telling me that 8-10% (or even more) is achievable.

If so, can someone recommend a good fund to get into? I can put some money into it for quite a long time, am looking at highest return rate per annum.

Thanks in advance.

8-10%pa?
Ask the agent to show you the funds...then tell us here....will you?
Never just listen to anyone with vested interest
....ask them to show the data of the consistency of getting that 8-10%pa.....

If you're investing with EPF you'll need to allocate it to Equity funds in order to achieve 8% or more. In consideration of your time horizon of investment, you may want to go into foreign funds that involves US-Europe, ASEAN Funds at this point of time where it is undervalued with the current economic fluctuation.

My current portfolio are average 6% with a good time frame of 3 years and constantly investing every 3 months with my EPF. Last years was higher at 9% average p.a.

My agent had overly told me is achievable of 8% or higher but at least 5 years and above and well I'm investing with EPF, I can utilize it till 55 years old anyway. A very long way to go!

from this link .....(excludes Public Mutual funds)
https://www.fundsupermart.com.my/main/fundi...erateTable.svdo

for the last 5 yrs there are 10 EPF Equity funds that had an annualised rate of 8% against 57 that are below 7%
(abt 85% of all the EPF approved Equity funds (excludes PM EPF Equity funds in data) failed to have >7% annualised returns in the last 5 yrs)

select well and hope that past performance may repeats....

btw, are you paying 3% sales charges every 3 months on your invested amount when you buy into the EPF funds?
mind sharing your EPF funds portfolio?

many would say....go for risk free and worry free by going for compounding return effects .....reap the risk free reward and can utilize this compounding return effects till 55 years old anyway. A very long way to go! A very long way to go enjoy the passive compounding return effects of EPF dividend!

from the above link...can see for the past 1 year
50% of those EPF Equity funds loss 10% ~ 33%......
if add in the 3% sales charges + the opportunity cost lost of EPF dividend 6%.....
I wonder "when" those that had invested with EPF money from last year could ever recoup those accumulated losses that summed over the coming years.....

hmm.gif the first can see bad moves for starter is the extra sales charges incurred....
I think you paid 5% sales charges for it thru CIMB.....while some online platform DIY...charges only 1.75%SC...and at times during promo....if >RM5000....0% SC too.

there will be sales charges on each buy...

yes, you can buy from other sites too...
each of you accounts of unit holdings will not be sum together....you need to track the status of the units from each sites individually.
